    Basic Guidelines:
    1. First Round matches are conducted under basic WWE singles match rules - the really inconsistent ones you see on television weekly.
    2. Polls will open after - approximately - twenty-four hours.
    3. Vote how you like, by whatever criteria you like.
    4. Strictly no alts.
    5. No regions, no arenas, no gimmicks (for now) - everything is based on merit.

It's 14:41 GMT as I begin the first thread of in a tournament that is sure to go down in history. Our first match is, as if you haven't already read the title:

    Match One
    "Scorpion Mutilation"
    "Awesome Narcissists"

There was a minor kerfuffle when I introduced DBD (Daniel Bryan Danielson, for the uninitiated) as Daniel Bryan, with xfearbefore reasoning that the main body of his work - and, very arguably, his most impressive - was outside of the WWE as Bryan Danielson - not to mention that he's teaming with the biggest wrestling star to never work for Vince McMahon, Sting. When his current WWE archnemesis The Miz is on the other team, however, his work as Daniel Bryan is definitely relevant.

And I think that Sting and Lex Luger might have some semblance of a history together. Dunno. Maybe.

    What a strange pairing.

Danielson and Miz are currently embroiled in a feud after spending a short while as a rookie / pro team. Luger and Sting were practically joined at the hip in WCW for much of the 90's.

Give me Scorpion Mutilation for the win.

Sting is not only a multiple time World Champ, but he has tag team credentials out the ass. Whether teaming with Warrior (bladerunners), Luger, Flair, etc, he was a solid tag team guy. Luger just doesn't get over with me as a tag team wrestler. Too selfish.

Plus, with Luger's hefty regimen of steroids, his tendons and joints are just asking to be snapped like dried out rubber bands in a taffy machine. Enter the Dragon - Brian Danielson.

Miz is a wild card here, but is too green to make up for what Sting brings to the table.

This wasn't drawn at random, was it!

Danielson, he should have a Chinese mentor who calls him Daniel-Son by the way, he's pretty much the only talented guy out of the three. Ok, ok, Sting had a good series with Vader. But that Vader, huh, he was good in them days. Lex Luger, that guy couldn't even get over properly in 2003 (EDIT: 10 years before 2003, actually). And The Miz is a crappy worker. He's improved a lot, but when you start at the bottom the only way is

I vote for the team Daniel Bryan is on, I forget which it is now.

Let's see Sting is better then Luger in pretty much every way imaginable and has gotten the better of him in the past. Although Bryan and Miz haven't really had a match yet, I'd say Danielson is going to get the rub and the US title over him at some point in the near future so give me Sting and Danielson.

Sting is clearly the most accomplished wrestlers out of these guys, being the face of WCW for pretty much the last decade of their existence. He's been a Tag team and World Champion in both companies that he's worked for, and has pretty much proven time and time again that he won't bail on his partners. The War Games match in 96, everyone thought Sting had defected to the nWo, but he showed that he didn't, staying true to WCW. Having Sting in this match already gives them the advantage.

As for Danielson, he's been one of the best independent wrestlers of the past decade, and would be able to pick apart the Miz inside of the ring, Luger also because of their lack of in-ring ability.

Miz has been a tag-team champion before, but he's not afraid of turning on his partner. Morrison in 08 or 09, whenever he the team was split, he was the one to turn. And Luger, while being quite accomplished, does have the Miz in his corner as his partner, which certainly isn't a perfect scenario.

Sting is certainly the best here out of the 4, and Danielson has been more accomplished and is a better wrestler then the Miz, which is enough for them to earn the victory.

It was. I know, I was surprised too.

Isn't that one of the things you're only allowed to think and not say out loud? That's what I do with most things.

The one with Sting. Who, coincidentally, is the only other one you even remotely complimented. Well, you complimented Vader but he's teaming with Batista. In another match.

While we're on the subject of things I normally think and don't say (or type, whatever) out loud - I prefer Daniel Bryan's short WWE stint to his entire ROH run. Perhaps it's because I had one of those rare mark out moments at SummerSlam - you know; one I didn't have to fake - or perhaps it's just the novelty of seeing someone in a promotion they're not "supposed" to be in. Like, I dunno, I was enthusiastic about Mick Foley in TNA for the first day or so.

    DBD has my vote too.

    They have. Bryan won, remember?

I have to go with Scorpion Mutilation in this match. Luger and Miz would just clash because they both wouldn't be able to get over themselves. I would see them arguing with each other at some point during the match, which would lead to one of them getting the scorpion death drop, Sting then tagging in Bryan to put the cattle mutilation on for the win.

Ah, my picks finally head into action. Sting & Danielson is an excellent pairing, most notably because I can see their styles mixing up quite well. Luger & Miz? Not so much. Luger's a big guy with a big mouth. Miz is a small guy with a big mouth. They'd have lots of arguments. As everyone & there mothers know, Sting is a multiple time world champion and had a far superior career to Luger. Danielson is about to go over Miz and take the United States Championship, thus leaving us with our winners; Scorpion Mutilation.

Sting and Danielson, and it really isn't that close.

Luger was big in WWF and WCW, but was never really the man and even though Miz is destined for greatness, he isn't there yet. Sting is one of the best wrestlers even and Bryan Danielson is excellent as well. I really cannot picture a scenario in which Miz and Luger win this one.

I'd be routing on Bryan Danielson and Sting, because The Miz would probaly somewhat turn on Luger in some way, or he would end it up in a dq for Luger and himself for bringing the briefcase into place.

So, I'd say BD & Sting win this one.

I feel these first four matches are like #1 vs #166 during March Madness (even if I hate bball). This match up is easily Scorpion Mutilation based on the fact that both wrestlers compliment each other. Both are technictions and can put on the best wrestling clinic during there hayday. Yes I know The Dragon is just entering his I'm talking about Sting's even though he can still put on a match when needed. Also, from there "gimmicks" they are both unselfish and want to win.

Next, you have the Awesome Narcissits. These two wrestlers I see having a problem with each othet. Both have similiar gimmicks and that's where I find this team's downfall. Both Luger and The Miz are egostistical and they both want to be known as the one who wins it for there team, the one who is better than his team mate, the one who is simply AWESOME!!!! When you put two people who share these qualities in their gimmick into a tag team then it is obvious what will happen. They will fight for the spotlight and will do whatever it takes to get the spotlight, even if that means they will lose the match. I might get bashed for this but its alright. It just so happens that this match is against probably two of the top twenty if not top 10 technical wrestlers to be in professional wrestling.

I have to give my vote to Scorpion Mutilation. Though i do not believe in mutilating a scorpion and hope none of you do... Anyway simply when u look at each team and disect them down individually you get this. Sting better then Lex, Sting better then Miz, Bryan better then Miz, Bryan better then Luger. Plus factor in that Luger and Miz's personalitys will almost certainly clash you easily see that Miz and Luger are easily going to lose to Scorpion Mutilation.

It's gotta be Scorpion Mutiliation for me. They just win this all round really for me and I could see cracks appear in Awesome Narcissists. It's disappointing cause The Miz is awesome... but DBD and Sting just work better as a tag team.

That would undoubtedly be the greatest tag move in the history of professional wrestling. Probably even the most painful looking to boot.

Anyways, definitely go with Sting and Bryan Danielson. They're the better wrestlers, they would win a kayfabe match against these guys, and I simply like them more.

I mean, Sting is my favorite wrestler of all time, and in my opinion one of the greatest when you add up everything, from his charisma to his athleticism in the ring. The guy was phenomenal, and much better than Lex Luger (who I do like) ever was.

Bryan Danielson... it's definitely between him and Punk when it comes down to my favorite wrestler to debut since 2000. I think the dude is awesome and much, much better than the Miz at pretty much everything. And yes... that includes being a heel, which Danielson is fantastic at, whether you want to believe it or not.

And kayfabe wise... I mean, Danielson has already beaten Miz, and he'll beat him again soon. Sting beat Luger pretty much every time they faced, and there's no reason to think this would go any different. Sting and Danielson would dominate this, no doubt.

Gotta go with Sting and Danielson here. Miz is improved, but Danielson is still the better wrestler, despite not making it in the big time until recently. And Luger, while he has the look didn't really have it in the ring. Sting is one of wrestling's greats and probably the face of WCW. Sting is better than Luger and Danielson is better than Miz. So by default that makes Scorpion Mutilation better than Awesome Narcissists. Would be a good match though since the guys know each other so well.

Sting is the most accomplished wrestler to never work for the WWE and Bryan Danielson (before signing up to the WWE) could be considered the most accomplished wrestler to remain an independent wrestler. Now, if both of these can become the successes that they have become by not venturing into some important areas of the business, you have to give them a shit-load of credit. Hell, Sting can still put together a solid match and perform well, with Bryan Danielson being quite over within the short stint that he has had... I mean, he had a few weeks on NXT, left for a while... and came back getting huge ovations in a match during the main event of the biggest company's second biggest PPV. Not too shabby, aye?

Lex Luger might have made his mark on the business, but there is no way, shape or form he is better than Sting... maybe muscle mass? Danielson would out-wrestle Luger too, so having him against this super pairing is quite useless. The Miz is improving and will become huge one day, but unfortunately he is not ready to take on the likes of Sting. Miz would get slapped around by the legend... as for Bryan, he'd get out-wrestled for sure. There is a mental edge that might affect Danielson due to the history, but I don't see Miz being better than Bryan.

Even if you analyse this team-wise, Scorpion Mutilation would still have the edge. They both would respect each other and work well together, whilst the Narcissists maybe become... err.. narcissistic and possibly implode due to the ego's. Sting/Bryan to advance here.

Well this is obvious, Sting and Danielson definitely pick up the win here. Sting is 100X better than Lex Luger ever was, even in his current wrestling shape, and style. Luger was no more than a muscle-head with a good gimmick. Yes, he was somewhat able to go in the ring, but how many quality matches can you think of that Luger was in, and that Sting was in? Chances are, Sting will have more. Also, on the mic, Sting was better than Luger.

As for Danielson and Miz, Danielson is better. While The Miz is certainly one of the hottest rising superstars in the WWE today, Bryan Danielson has wrestled all over the world. He's also been voted "Best Technical Wrestler" five times. He has competed for many different companies, and can certainly out-wrestle The Miz. Despite their feud thats going on right now, Danielson is a lot better in the ring than The Miz is.

Scorpion Mutilation is the obvious choice in about every way imaginable. There's really no advantage theam Miz/Luger has here. Sure, Luger was pretty good back in the day, but was he better than Sting? Hell no. While Danielson may be overrated, surely he isn't as overrated as the Miz, who really hasn't had a good match ever. I also wouldn't be surprised if Team 2 fell apart. Just too much ego there for my liking.

Pretty much a no-brainer here. On one side of the coin, you have Sting. Now I am by no means the biggest Sting fan in the world (and I hate the thought of him being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, especially at an alleged WCW-themed WM27 in Atlanta). But there's no denying his contribution to the wrestling business, and he is above average in the ring. Combine him with Bryan Danielson, supposedly the best in the world outside of the WWE (based upon his pre-WWE ROH days) who is now getting his chance to display it in a WWE ring. And so far, he's been impressing me and living up to the hype. A formidable team.

To oppose them, we have Lex Luger who I always felt was grossly over-rated. All physique, with minimal in-ring skill or charisma. Teamed up with a guy who I have grown to really like in the Miz, but he's still too green to be seen as a threat in a tournament of this nature. He's got the look, the charisma, the mic-skills, the arrogant attitude, but while his in-ring work is improving, it's still not there.

Edge to Sting over Luger. Edge to Danielson over Mizanin.

Sting and Danielson is quite the nice little tag team. You've got power, high flying, ground grappling, and technical abilities up the wazoo in that team. Then you have Luger, who is underrated, but can barely move a lick, and The Miz who is still on his way up. I've got to give this one to Scorpion Mutilation on experience and cohesiveness, because Totally Awesome (Better team name BTW) will have an ego clash, which will lead to mistakes, which Sting and Danielson don't make.

    Scorpion Mutilation all the way.

I think Sting and Danielson would probably win. I can't imagine Miz getting on well with the Patriot Luger and Narcissist Luger was, by definition, a one man band. Sting and Bryan are probably given more love than they deserve, but truth be told, Sting has won a lot, with a lot of different partners, and has beaten Luger in the past. If John Cena thinks Danielson is a better tag partner than Miz, who am I to argue?

I can't see how Scorpion Mutilation will lose here. Sting has beaten Luger countless times and I can't see how he would have trouble with the Miz. Luger may be able to overpower Danielson but the Miz has already lost to Bryan. Sting can basically get along with anybody when he's a face so he'll have no problem in the chemistry aspect with Danielson. However, Awesome Narcissists, their name says it all. I can't see how they'll be able to coexist without one having an ego trip. I feel either Sting or Danielson will catch Luger or Miz in a slip up and lock in their submission for the win.

I really cant see how Sting and Bryan lose this. Luger I always thought wasn't that great as people made him out to be, and Sting basically shits all over him. Bryan and Miz is interesting tho. I here people rave on about Bryan like he is a god. I actually haven't seen a match with him in it yet so I cannot comment on that and Miz is overrated. The only good part about his game is the Mic skills, and they obviously have no way to affect this tag team match. But I am going to trust every person in the whole world and say Danielson is as good as they come and with Sting in his team they might be the favourites to win it.

Sting and Danielson with the win.
