ROUND ONE: Albert Wesker & Joel vs. Light Yagami & Gordon Freeman

ROUND ONE

Albert Wesker is a dangerous man with powers galore. He is an insane megalomaniac willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his ends. However, he may have met his match in one of the craftiest and most dangerous criminals of all time, Light Yagami. On the other side you have Gordon Freeman, a man known to take on all his problems with a crowbar and a brain, and the fourth man in the mix, the survivor, Joel. This is a lightning battle of brains and brawn, but only one team can walk out alive.

I love this match.

Okay, obviously you guys know by now that my love of Death Note runs deep. If Light manages to write your name in the Death Note, you are fucked. End of story. Dead. Done. Okay, we got that. Here's the cool thing: Everyone knows who Albert Wesker is, so he's basically done for from the start. With the main threat gone, that leaves Light to write Joel's name in and it's done, right?

Wrong.

Joel is just Joel and to use the Death Note the other side needs to know both first and last names, so Light's become useless. He probably gets knocked out by a stray weapon shot. Maybe the Death Note gets destroyed. Either way, he's done. So what we have now is Gordon vs. Joel. Hell of a fight, but Gordon is one of the craftiest and smartest guys in the game, and is deadly with his crowbar. Once it got to this point I could see it going either way, but I'm gonna have to give the edge to Gordon because he's that much more trained.

Besides, Gordon's survived headcrabs. Fuck headcrabs.

How do you figure Wesker is infamously known by Light? For all intents and purposes, Wesker, and everything he has done has been blacklisted from public knowledge. Only ones who knew of Wesker were the main characters (which surprise, all end up working for Special force units or underground criminals. Or even dead)

Beyond that, Wesker's speed, and wit alone are far faster than Light's Penmen ship, He could very easily shoot the book out of Light's hand by the time he got to "Alber" or he'd end up shooting Light's knee caps just for fun.

The real fight would be between Wesker and Gordon Freeman. Even then, there isn't much of a fight to be had with Wesker's Martial arts abilities, his powers, and his arsenal outclass even Gordon's gravity gun.

I propose one question, and one question only: would the Death Note work on Wesker? He's not a human, he's a human clone. He's got human blood, but would that be enough to activate the note's power? If so Team 2 has a chance. The only way I see them winning is if they target Wesker first. The argument that Light wouldn't know Wesker is weak considering the knowledge of the Shinigami should extend to all points within the human realm. If for some reason it doesn't, then that would clench the match for Team 1 regardless.

Right now I'm on the fence. I'm leaning towards Team 1, but I can be swayed.

This came to me last night when I was talking to Yaz.

The Deathnote, lets say Light is fast enough to scribble in "Albert Wesker" before Wesker is able to use his far superior speed and reflexes to destroy the Deathnote or kill Light. Would still have 30 seconds before he would suffer a heart attack.

30 seconds, before a heart attack.

Neither one of those are a huge factor to the man. This is somebody with a healing factor, and enough mutations in his system to transform his body into far more horrifying and disgusting creatures than Light or Gordon have ever seen, and thats even Wesker didn't kill both Gordon and Light in the 30 second time span.

Remember, we're not talking about some clumsy James Bond thug. This is Wesker, a master combatant who has shown the ability to dodge machine gun fire, explosives shrapnel, and move at speeds that make you think he teleports. He could very easily end Light much faster than Light could end him.

No, he'd be dead. The Death Note doesn't "cause a heart attack" it causes a FATAL heart attack and thus death. Also its not a matter of Wesker going after Light first. In all likelihood, he'd have to fight Freeman because I severely doubt Gordon's going to leave the non-super-powered partner to get completely annihilated by a freak like Wesker.

Albert Wesker gets written down and fights Gordon before a massive heart attack kills him all within 30 seconds. Sure, Joel might shoot and wound Light (whose a fast son of a bitch in regular human terms so he'd probably be able to run away from the 30 seconds to a minute it'd take for Joel to catch and fight him and by then Gordon is in position to finish it.

You think Gordon Freeman could stand up to Albert Wesker in a fight? Doesn't Albert Wesker have superhuman abilities, and doesn't Gordon Freeman have a crowbar? I suppose he also has a couple of gizmos and gadgets that help him fight baddies, but he doesn't exactly have the Godlike powers that Wesker has.

I'm making this point not because I think Wesker can escape the Death Note –he can't– but because I think Wesker could kick the living shit out of Freeman before he dies. Couple that with the fact that Freeman would likely be fighting Wesker and Joel at the same time (Joel would let Yagami run away, knowing that Freeman is the bigger threat), and you have a quick end to Freeman's participation in this tournament.

From there, it's just Joel being able to hunt down Light. Light really has no way to conceivably beat Joel, and Joel has all the skills necessary to track down Light and bring him to a violent end.

I'm going with the team that both creates and destroys zombies on this one: Wesker and Joel.

Know what happens if Wesker's body starts to fail him? He fucking mutates to the point where he wouldn't need a human heart. You know what? Lets humor the possibility that Light's handwriting is faster than the Superhuman Albert Wesker who can move faster than the naked eye could even fathom. Wesker has killed far more capable men in much less time than 30 seconds.
