Round 1: Bane vs. Dr. Doom

In an evil vs. evil match, neither of these combatants are at a shortage of brains, brawn, or fighting ability. Will it be the chemically enhanced Bane standing tall, or will Dr. Doom give the people of Latveria something to cheer about?

An interesting battle of minds here. Both men are incredibly powerful and vastly intelligent and thus somewhat evenly matched. However, I do get the feeling looking at this that everything Bane can do, Doom can do better. From pure brute strength, while Bane relies on a steady supply of Venom, Doom’s suit is never ending in terms of its power and supply. In terms of brains, Doom is a polymath rivalled by few and feared by all.

His intellect is so great it upstages the greatest minds known to man. And in terms of tactics well, while Bane is a crafty technician, Doom has so many devious, dark plots in that silver and green body of his that he can strategise whilst in his sleep.

Should Bane attempt to rip Doom’s armour off, he’s going to be in for a shocking surprise (yes I went there). With a booby trapped armour, Bane will be immobilised at least momentarily, and that will allow Doom to take Bane’s Venom supply down and incapacitate the hulking monster permanently. Doom wins by way of being a better baddie really.

FunKay makes an excellent argument. While I would wager to say that with enough Venom flowing Bane would be stronger than Doom, Doom is just an all around better villain. He may not have the popularity or success against his foes that Bane has, but Doom wins here in a battle I'd enjoy watching....from a distance.

Dr. Doom was on the losing end of one of the biggest upsets of last year's tournament, though it was completely overshadowed by Kirby's defeat of Goku. Dr. Doom will not be victim to such a travesty this year.

Doom is easily one of Marvel's most powerful terrestrial villains. He's an expert in magic, science, technology, fighting, and evilness. Bane is no slouch when it comes to intelligence either, but is he one of the smartest people in the DC Universe? No? Dr. Doom is considered to be on the same levels as Reed Richards, Tony Stark, and Dr. Strange in terms of intelligence, i.e. the smartest humans Marvel has to offer.

Bane's strength is just about the only thing that he has on Doom, but that won't be enough to take him out. Doom's armor makes him a hard man to hurt, so breaking his back as he did to Batman is out of the question, and just getting his hands on Doom is going to be problematic as Doom has all sorts of magic tricks that will make him difficult to catch.

Doom takes this one, and becomes the threat to this tournament that he was destined to be.

Bane can break people, and has a keen mind for strategy and tactics. Doom, however, is a master in the field of robotics, a scientist with almost no equal in his world, has been known to play with magic, and has stood toe to toe with some of the biggest and baddest that the Marvel Universe has to offer...and won.

Doom wins.

Bane is a John Cena w/ more roids, less brains, & less marketing ability.

Dr. Doom is a more deformed, genius Cody Rhodes w/ the powers of electricity.

Result:
Bane has the muscles & strength but as we all have learned via comic books & cartoons, it takes smarts & knowing your opponents weaknesses to defeat someone. Dr. Doom would just destroy any equipment powering Bane & shock him back to reality.

Such a shame Bane will be going home so early, but gotta give this one to Doom, though it will not be nearly the easy victory some may think. Even without the Venom, Bane is a force to be reckoned with, without Venom Bane is still in absolute peak physical condition, & able to lift upwards of 1500 lbs., he's punched steel gates off hinges, snapped steel cables that were restraining him, & is suprising quick for a such a heavily muscled freak of nature. He's also very smart having a genius level intellect, so it's not as if Doom is just going to easy outsmart Bane. Doom wins this after he forces Bane to attempt to rip off the armor, which Bane could possibly succed in doing though not without suffering some painful results, which in all likelihood would leave Bane incapacitated, giving Doom the win.

It's completley sad that you think Dr. Doom would defeat Bane. No. Bane wouldn't just fight a worthy opponent just to fight, he would strategize!!! Bane over powers Dr. Doom hands down and doesn't have enough power in his arsenal to defeat Bane. Bane wins. Do some research people!!

It comes down to if Doom's brain outweights Banes Genius level intellect AND phenomenal strength.

Bane is smart, arguably as smart as batman, he's also a skilled enough fighter to be a threat to batman WITHOUT venom. Batman and Bane are not far from being equally matched. This is far from cut and dry.

Or at least it would be if Doom weren't also a powerful goddamn sorcerer.

I think Bane is fantastic, but he's not the fantastic four.

These two are very evenly matched in terms of strength and brains both. However, I would say that Doom wins this bout. Bane may be strong and all, but Doom can just fly up high and attack Bane from long range. Also, don't forget that Bane has to rely on venom for his strength, which is one of his greatest weaknesses. By cutting off the venom like Batman did, Bane becomes a sitting duck. Doom takes this one.

Peak Physical Conditioning- Even without Venom, his physique is in its peak physical condition and is greater than that of most human level athletes. Bane is shown to still be stronger than Batman, able to lift/press approximately 1,500 lbs. Without Venom, Bane has proven capable of breaking Killer Croc's bones and standing toe-to-toe with other superhumans. He has also performed feats such as snapping steel cables that were used to shackle him, and denting and deforming an iron gate after punching it off of it's hinges. Despite his heavily muscled appearance, Bane is shown to be a surprisingly fast runner, as he's been shown to be able to keep up with the more slender member of the Secret Six with ease. Without the Venom drug, Bane has proven to be phenomenally durable. Examples include shrugging off bullets to the shoulder and other areas, and withstanding the torture of having numerous bricks thrown at all areas of his body.

I agree Doom wins this, however if you think defeating Bane is as simple as just cutting of his Venom supply, you are sorely mistaken sir, even without Venom Bane is a force to be reckoned with & would give Doom one hell of a fight.

Dr. Doom wears a suit of armor that was designed to withstand the best the Fantastic Four could throw at him. Bane is incredibly strong, but is even his strength enough to break Doom's armor? Bane wears none. He has no protection against Doom's tricks. Both are capable of attacking, but only Doom has the capability to defend himself against one. Doom wins.

Doom has a bit more intellect than Bane. Don't get me wrong here, Bane is smart and tough, but Doom's knowledge of robotics along with his high intellectual powers outweigh this.
