Rob Van Dam in PWG

Ring of Honor and California-based Pro Wrestling Guerrilla will be running shows back-to-back during "WrestleReunion" weekend in Los Angeles at the beginning of January.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has often been labeled the West Coast version of Ring of Honor. Now, ROH is making its long-awaited debut in Los Angeles on January 29. PWG will then run a show on January 30 featuring former WWE and ECW wrestler Rob Van Dam.

The entire weekend event takes place at the Hilton Hotel at LAX airport. Tickets for the weekend event go on-sale Saturday, Sept. 19.

It's about time he makes his indy debut, huh?

Well, just like the Spanky thread... I'll just ask what do you want to see from him? What will it take for you to purchase a PWG DVD with Rob Van Dam on it? Keep in mind, PWG has access to pretty much every wrestler in ROH and Dragon Gate USA, so the options are not limited at all.

Personally, there have been two matches I've wanted to see from RVD since like 2005. One is likely, while the other is not so much. But the first in mind, as I'm sure RVDGurl will agree with, is RVD vs. Bryan Danielson. Danielson can pretty much work with anyone at this point in his career, and when I watch Tyler Black wrestle, I'm reminded of a young RVD. And thus far, Danielson's work with Black has been downright incredible, so I know for a fact that him and RVD could pull off some amazing shit against one another.

Option 2, which, like I said, isn't very likely, but if PWG could somehow also get Sabu on the show, and if he's healthy.... then RVD & Sabu vs. The Briscoe Brothers is something I would absolutely LOVE to see. I know both the Briscoes have cited RVD and Sabu as two of their biggest inspirations in professional wrestling, so I know it'd be a dream come true from them, but I'm positive it'd be a dream come true for plenty of fans out there as well. And if Sabu can't make it, then hell... pit RVD & Danielson together and put them up against the Briscoes. :)

Anyways, what would you like to see?

What would I like him to do? TNA of course. But in PWG, there area few things I would like. They could bring him back to wrestle a match that I would absolutely love, and that's Super Dragon. He's been gone for a year now after his concussion, and I just think a return versus the great Rob VanDam would be insane.

But that wouldn't be the only thing I'd like. You mentioned the briscoes, and that would be great. Team him with Danielson or London, whoever, it would still be great. A match against Chris Hero would be awesome, as would be one with Aries. But if there are 3 wrestlers I'd like to see him wrestle, they are Tyler Black, PAC and Chuck Taylor. I think they are all great prospects for the future, and think of what a rub from the great RVD would do. With Pac's high flying, Tyler's martial arts and Chuck's,well, humour, they would be great matches.

Here are a couple cool ideas

-A backstage skit type thing with Colt Cabana

-A promo some how with Delirous

-Tag him up with Tyler,London,Spanky,or even Cabana to take on one of the heel tags

-A match with Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley. Ether 2 singles or team him with one of the people mentioned above

-Even though it probably wouldnt happen, I would love to see RVD vs Joe

-A RVD vs Jerry Lynn for old times sake. Maybe team them up after to take on a couple guys..

-And Last for RVD to stop by ROH

We are deluding ourselves if we think RVD isn't going to be wrestling Hero for the title. PWG will want him to main event, and PWG values their title - hence, RVD vs Chris Hero. The match will rock socks, of course, because Hero is awesome and RVD is awesome. I fully expect one of the better PWG main events in recent history to come out of this.

The question is: does RVD stick around, and if so, what does he do in PWG? RVD lives in LA, of course, and PWG bases the majority of their shows out of southern California, so repeat appearances and him being a regular seems entirely likely, unless he's just here for a quick buck/one time appearance or something. It's not like it'll hurt him to show up one a month on a show that at worst is an hour from his house. I'm sure hoping, as I would imagine everyone is, this is a permanent thing with RVD, but we'll have to see.

I really could see RVD getting the title off Hero, then either getting a little run with it if he sticks around, or dropping it at the next show. I know RVD has won other indy feds titles in his semi retirement only to drop them quickly. Hero has been the champion forever, and I think it'd be a good time for them to move the title off him. Best way I see that to happen is RVD gets it, then drops it to someone, giving them a big rub. Joey Ryan, El Generico, Roderick Strong, and Scott Lost all seem rather hot of late, in my estimation. It might head to one of them, but my knowledge of recent PWG shows is rather weak, so I might be off my mark.

Nevertheless, RVD in PWG is great for them - PWG really is the ROH of California, and they're an excellent promotion. I'm glad they're getting a rub from RVD, and hope he sticks around. If he nabs their title, it would be fairly unprecedented, I think - a former WWE Champion stepping down to the indies, and getting their world title. I am not entirely sure, but I don't think this has ever happened before, so if he gets it, it would be very cool.

RVD is finally hitting the indy curcuit...prasie Jesus! You better believe I will be purchasing this PWG DVD as soon as possible no matter who he wrestles. Since we still don't know if this is a one shot deal, I think Harthan's idea of Hero v. RVD is on point. Win or lose, RVD will be main eventing this show.

With that being said, I am hoping against hope that this will turn into more than just a one time appearance. As jmt225 already mentioned, I would love to see RVD work with Bryan Danielson. And since I am in the midst of a Joey Ryan obsession, that match would knock my socks off, as well. Although I have to say that an RVD v. Austin Aries match may be the best scenerio. I just think they would be tremendous in the ring together. In fact, they should work a program that carries from PWG to ROH. Now that would make RVDgurl happy. :)

I think RVD vs Hero should be a tremendous match if they book it right. I believe they should have RVD show off his agility in the early goings and pretty much make Hero look like a fool. Hero gets pissed and the match's pace gets faster over time, and then it escalates into some pulse-pounding action. RVD could pull off something truly amazing with El Generico too. These are two guys that just seem like they would have that chemistry if you threw them in the ring together and told them to wrestle. Can't imagine how RVD would sell a top rope brain buster. Tyler and RVD is another match i'd like to see, if those two put on a bout, i'd certainly buy the DVD.

Either way, RVD in PWG is awesome, and hopefully it'll get the company some publicity. The only thing I think would have been better is RVD in Ring of Honor to have one last match with Jerry Lynn. But seeing as Lynn's injured, we wouldn't get that anyways. Also, seeing as the Friday of that weekend, is a ROH show (probably featuring some PWG names and Liger) then the Saturday is a PWG show, RVD could actually do both. Who knows though.

Im not questioning you but where did you get your news? I looked on PWG's website but it didnt show up anywhere. Maybe i missed it but still

Lol... that's because they're not advertising something that's all the way in January.

Besides, it's a joint show bought to us by a company called WrestleReunion. And I can't link you to a site on here, so just do a Google search and you'll come up with some results.

FINALLY!!! I've been waiting forever for Robbie V to make his way to the indies. I will buy any DVD with RVD on it period. It makes it even better that it's PWG. They are such a great promotion and so many talented guys come through there. RVD would have an amazing match against any one of those guys. Hopefully after he works a couple of PWG shows he'll move up to ROH. RVD/Danielson thing isn't a possibility anymore due to Danielson apparently signing with WWE. I like the idea of RVD facing Tyler Black. But I have a feeling that his first, and hopefully not his only, PWG show, he'll be facing Hero. Which would be an incredible match. I also think RVD and Scott Lost would put on an incredible show. I'm also praying for RVD and The Young Bucks vs. Hero and The Men Of Low Moral Fiber (Chuck Taylor and Kenny Omega). Here's to hoping Rob works more than one PWG show and works some awesome matches!
