How important is ring psychology within the context of a match? How important is ring psychology within the context of how successful a company is?
For me, ring psychology is little more than good guy versus bad guy, heel vs. face, or on rare occasions, face vs. face or heel vs. heel (on even rarer occasions). And of course, do the same thing with tweeners in the mix and you get what I think there. Of course, the story behind it differs from feud to feud, and I care about that, but is it really as complex or important as people make out?
As long as the face plays clean or the heel plays dirty, I couldn't really give a crap about the psychology. Maybe that's my weakness as a wrestling fan. I expect there to be a story behind it, and that story to be reflected in the ring, but I don't expect some profound, mystical chemistry between the two (or three, or four, or whatever) as some people seem to see. I don't see why ring psychology is reckoned to be such an important aspect, as it seems to be a pretty insignificant, simple one to me.
Where do you stand on the matter?
