National Wrestling Alliance/Total Non-Stop Action presents: Weekly PPV #1
Date: 6-19-2002
From: Huntsville, AL

The show starts off with several legends who once competed in the NWA. The legends include Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat and Jackie Fargo to name a few. Steamboat has the NWA belt in hand and puts over how important the belt is to the world of wrestling. After a few moments, Jeff Jarrett makes his way out and rips on everything involved with the NWA. Jarrett doesn’t like the fact that he has to win the championship in a battle royal. Jarrett calls what is going on to be a joke. Fargo gets involved and tells Jarrett “to kiss my ass”. Fargo decides to put Jarrett as the first entrant in the battle royal. Jarrett promises to win the strap tonight. Ken Shamrock makes his way out and agrees with Jarrett about the battle royal situation. Shamrock says that he will be winning gold. To continue the segment, Scott Hall makes his way through the crowd just like he did in May 1996. Once again, Hall agrees with both Jarrett and Shamrock about the battle royal being a bad idea. Hall basically says he will walk out with the gold, as well.

Backstage, Goldylocks is interviewing Puppet the Psycho Dwarf. Puppet insults two other midget wrestlers Teo and Hollywood. Psycho just puts him over and biggest and baddest midget in TNA. Jeff Jarrett is seen at the end kicking various objects in the background.

Opening Contest: Flying Elvises (Jimmy Yang/Jorge Estrada/Sonny Siaki) defeated AJ Styles/Low KI/Jerry Lynn:
A pretty good first match here to start off TNA’s first telecast. All six men get time to showcase what they have to offer to the promotion. The action is fast and for the most part fairly entertaining. The ending saw Lynn deliver the cradle pile driver to Estrada, Siaki plant Lynn with a roll of the dice type move, leaping kick by Styles nailing Siaki, KI accidentally hitting Styles with a handspring kick in the corner. Yang nails Styles with Yang Time to pick up the impressive win. ***1/2

Second Contest: Teo defeated Hollywood:
This is a “midget match”, that’s what it is promoted as. Teo has quite a few impressive moves for being a dwarf wrestler. Hollywood with a sit down scoop slam for a near fall. Hollywood nearly wins with a top rope body splash. Teo with a swanton bomb off the top for the win. DUD

Ed Ferrera and Don West are standing in the ring and they are promoting “next weeks” lingerie battle royal. They introduce all the ladies which include Francine, Daffeny, Alexis Laree (Mickie James), and Electra to name a few. Francine grabs the microphone and insults Don West calling him “pudgy”. Francine says that none of the women in the ring compare to her. Electra steps up and says that Francine isn’t the Queen of Extreme. Electra says that Francine bankrupted ECW (without mentioning ECW but as “another company”). Francine and Electra have a mini cat fight. Francine promises to win the battle royal next week. Francine will become the first ever “Miss TNA”.

Backstage, Goldylocks is with Mortimer Plumtree. Plumtree says that he has brought is former bullies into TNA to handle his business. Plumtree apparently has complete control over his former bullies. They must do whatever he wants at all times. He says their names are “The Johnsons”.

Third Contest: The Johnsons defeated James Storm/Psicosis:
The Johnsons are better known as the Shane Twins. I should also note that they are dressed up as condoms which considering the name, makes sense. Storm’s gimmick closely resembles the Smoking Gunns gimmick in the mid 1990’s. Storm and Psicosis work fairly well as a team early on. Alicia, or Symphony as she was known in WCW, comes down to ringside. However, it is quickly noticeable that she is rather scouting the referee, Slick Johnson. Storm is pinned following a fireman’s carry into a diamond cutter. *
After the match, Alicia stops Slick Johnson and after a moment, Slick gives Alicia some money.

Backstage, Goldylocks is with the Dupp Brothers. Bill Behrens tells the Dupps their isn’t any beer drinking in the locker room. The Dupps are goofy rednecks who are both sleeping around with their girlfriend and cousin, Fluff Dupp.

Jeremy Borash introduces Sterling Marlin and Hermie Sadler two of the top NASCAR drivers. They are out promoting their next race on Sunday in California. Marlin is the current points leader in the series. K-Krush makes his way out and says he is sick and tired of hearing about race car driving. Krush says they aren’t athletes. Krush insults both men until Hermie Sadler gets in Krush’s face. Krush grabs Sadler by the shirt, but is attacked from behind by Brian Christopher. Sadler and Marlin throw Krush over the top to the floor. Christopher nearly swears but covers it by saying “mofo”. Christopher challenges Krush to a match next week. Krush accepts the challenge.

Backstage, Jarrett has Jackie Fargo by the throat and is telling him he will be the next champion.

Fourth Contest: The Dupp Brothers (Stan/Bo) defeated Joey Matthews/Christian York:
Stan Dupp is Trevor Murdoch. Matthews and York hold their own early on but the Bo enters and uses his size and power to control both men. Stan loses the momentum after a neck breaker by Matthews. York goes for a moonsault late in the match but takes way to long and Fluff Dupp crotches him. Bo rolls York up and has a handful of tights for the win. DUD

Music video of Toby Keith’s song “How Do You Like Me Now” is shown.

Jeremy Borash introduces Toby Keith who will be singing that same song live for the audience. After about two minutes of the song, Jeff Jarrett shoves Keith to the side and it appears that the battle royal is coming up next. Jarrett says no one wants to hear Keith sing.

Fifth Contest: 20 man battle royal

The last two men in the battle will compete right after the contest to crown the first NWA-TNA champion.

Order of Entry:
(Jeff Jarrett, Buff Bagwell, Lash LeRoux, Norman Smiley, Apolo, K-Krush, Slash, Scott Steiner impersonator, Justice, Konnan, Bruce, Rick Steiner, Malice (The Wall), Scott Hall, Chris Harris, Vampire Warrior (Gangrel), Tempest (Crowbar), Ken Shamrock , Steve Corino, and Brian Christopher

Joel Gertner debuts following Konnan’s introduction as the mouthpiece of the Rainbow Express (Lenny Lane and Bruce aka Alan Funk).

Order of Elimination:
(Buff Bagwell, Lash LeRoux, Norman Smiley, Slash, Justice, Bruce, K-Krush, Scott Steiner impersonator, Konnan, Rick Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, Tempest, Vampire Warrior, Chris Harris, Steve Corino, Brian Christopher, Apolo and Scott Hall)

Main Event: Ken Shamrock defeated Malice to win the vacant NWA-TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Ricky Steamboat is the referee for the contest. Throughout the contest, Shamrock works on Malice’s right arm with a arm bar submission. Shamrock nearly wins with the ankle lock submission but Malice reaches the ropes. Malice goes for the choke slam but Shamrock reverses connecting with a belly to belly suplex to pick up the win and the title!
After the match, Ken Shamrock celebrates with Bill Behrens, Bob Armstrong and other legends around ringside as fireworks go off for the celebration. Jeff Jarrett comes out again and continues to complain over the decision of a battle royal. Jarrett attacks Bob Armstrong and other legends and other legends. Jackie Fargo and Toby Keith make their way down to the ring with security right behind them. Fargo tells Jarrett that next week, Jarrett will be facing Scott Hall. Hall runs down to the ring and brawls with Jarrett as the show comes to an end. **

My Take: The opening segment dragged on a little too long and the interactions between Shamrock, Jarrett and Hall was very lackluster considering they agreed that the idea of a battle royal, sucked. The first contest in TNA’s history was quite good. Sonny Siaki has the look of The Rock in my opinion. The midget match was nothing special really, though Teo does have a few impressive moves. Electra claiming Francine bankrupted ECW is just a stupid comment to make. Speaking of stupid, the gimmick the Johnsons have is just ridiculous on many levels. I do like the part that Mortimer has brought his former bullies into the company, but why have them dressed up as basically condoms? They can’t really be seen as a forceful team when that is the first thing to cross your mind. James Storm looked pretty good in the ring. The whole NASCAR segment was quick and painless. The Dupps appear to be a semi funny comedy act. Battle Royal wasn’t anything special. Though, the guy who came out looking like Scott Steiner fooled the crowd for a few moments until he entered the ring. Shamrock/Malice was the last thing I was expecting and the match itself was fairly quick. Good choice to have Shamrock as the first champion, though.

After the match, Hall celebrates with Fargo and Keith.

Video from last week promoting the lingerie battle royal.

Second Contest: Cheex w/brown eyed girl defeatedFrank Parker:
Cheex is 402lbs and he isn’t that tall so he looks even bigger. Cheex really dominates the contest because of his size. Cheex with a few running butt splashes in the corner. We see Alicia talking to Jeremy Borash during the contest. Cheex wins the squash following a big splash coming off the ropes. DUD
After the match, Borash gives Alicia money just as Slick Johnson had done last week.

Video from last week promoting the K-Krush/NASCAR feud which has been only a week.

Third Contest: Brian Christopher w/Hermie Sadler and Sterling Marlin defeated K-Krush: An evenly contested match early on. Krush nearly wins following a leaping side kick. Fourth Contest: Taylor Vaughn won a nine Lady Lingerie Battle Royal:
Tyler is the first lady to get eliminated by Electra. Sasha is eliminated by Shannon. Erin is eliminated by Alexis. Francine is tripled team and is eliminated by Taylor Vaughn. Joanie is eliminated by Alexis. Ed Ferrera goes to check on a upset Francine. Ed sneaks in a boob grab. Francine attacks like she is about to pleasure him but instead delivers several whips with his own belt. Alexis Laree was eliminated during that. Taylor Vaughn eliminates Electra to win the Miss TNA crown.
After the match, Francine attacks Taylor Vaughn and rips her clothes off. Francine whips Vaughn with the belt.

Backstage, Goldylocks is interviewing Apolo. That is until Bobcat and David Young cut into the scene and Bobcat rips on Goldylocks. Bobcat wants people to be talking about David Young.

Fifth Contest: Apolo defeated David Young w/Bobcat:
Apolo controls Young throughout the contest. Bobcat is more focused on the fans at ringside and flirting than she is on managing her man. Young eventually sees this nearly loses the match. Young manages to nail Apolo with the spine buster, but is distracted by Bobcat’s flirting with Borash. Young misses a moonsault and nailed with a super kick. Apolo wins the contest following a cutter after a fireman’s carry. *
After the match, Bobcat celebrates as if Young won the match.

Joel Gertner is in the ring and cuts a promo on his team the Rainbow Express. Gertner puts them over as being gay, but he isn’t. Gertner says the Rainbow Express are better than everyone else in the arena.

The Dupps were originally suppose to be the challengers but Stan said that he didn’t want to face an alternative lifestyle. Literally five seconds later, we see Bill Behrens asking Chris Harris and James Storm to take their place which they do.

Sixth Contest: Chris Harris/James Storm defeated Rainbow Express (Lenny Lane and Bruce):
Lane and Bruce ram Storm’s head down into the mat in a motion that doesn’t look appropriate. They tag each other in by kissing the other persons hand. Lane has the Tiger Tamer on Storm but Harris comes in and clotheslines Lane down. Lane collides with Bruce and Harris is able to roll Lane up for the upset win. *

Ricky Steamboat is standing in the ring and tries to pump up the crowd. Steamboat introduces the new NWA-TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Ken Shamrock. Shamrock says he will defend the belt with honor and pride. Shamrock says he has risen to the top everywhere he has gone. He appreciates the support and if you don’t support him then “you can kiss my ass.” Sinister James Mitchell interrupts Shamrock to say he is on a “mission from god”. Mitchell dares Shamrock to face one of his men and defend the championship next week. Mitchell introduces his guy, Slash. Shamrock wants Slash to come to the ring right now, and doesn’t realize that Malice is right behind him. Malice with a choke slam and chokes Shamrock as Steamboat tries to pull Malice off. Security runs down but they are shoved down. Mitchell and Malice just walk off.

A video highlighting the six man opening tag match from the first week is shown.

Seventh Contest: AJ Styles defeated Psicosis, Low KI, Jerry Lynn in a double elimination match to win the NWA-TNA X Division Championship:
Psicosis nails Styles with a top leg drop but doesn’t get the three. Styles plants Psicosis with the Styles Clash to give Psicosis his first loss of the match. . Styles with a German suplex and a modified face buster to give KI his first loss. Lynn quickly enters and plants Styles with the cradle pile driver to give Styles his first loss. Lynn with the cradle pile driver eliminating Psicosis from the match completely. Lynn eliminates KI from the match following the cradle pile driver. Styles manages to even up the contest with the Styles Clash giving both men one loss. Ricky Steamboat enters now, instead of when it was 1-0 Lynn, to referee the contest. After a long and very entertaining battle, AJ Styles manages to win the contest following the Spiral Tap. ***
After the match, fireworks go off and confetti falls from the rafters as Styles is given the NWA-TNA X Division Championship.

Mike Tenay, Don West and Ed Ferrera promote next weeks show. Which includes a one night tournament to crown the tag team champions, Hall/Christopher taking on Jarrett/Krush and Shamrock defends the title against Malice.

My Take: Interesting to see Jarrett/Hall as the opening contest. The finish to the match was really weak. Let’s just say if I don’t see Cheex wrestle again, I wouldn’t be sad about that. Christopher/Krush was nothing special. I didn’t like the interference by Marlin and Sadler simply because of the interference during the first match. Lingerie battle royal was rather boring to me. The woman may be good looking, but it sucked from a action stand point. The crowd was dead for Apolo/Young contest. Either Apolo or the Johnsons need to change their finishing move. Big win for Harris/Storm on this edition though I would have liked to see Lane not be the guy to take the pin. New Church/Shamrock segment was well done. I like the fact that they haven‘t mentioned that Malice was the Wall in WCW. That would most likely hurt him in the long run. Ferrera makes a good point that Siaki, Yang and Estrada weren’t in the X-Division contest while Styles, KI and Lynn were even though they lost last week. First booking blunder for TNA. The main event was a very good contest that got the crowd going, which was hard to do at the beginning of the show. I wonder if this makes Jimmy Yang the top contender since on the first show he pinned AJ Styles, cleanly. Looks like TNA has a few feuds lined up (Krush/Christopher, Hall/Jarrett, and Shamrock/New Church) so it will be interesting to see how those develop and what else occurs in the coming weeks.

Rainbow Express manage to control Apolo for a few moments. Late in the match, Bagwell nails Bruce with the Blockbuster but is nailed with the super kick by Lane to pick up the win for his team. *
After the match, Bagwell is left in the ring shaking his head as Apolo just leaves him. Ed Ferrera walks over to Buff Bagwell who is talking to himself. Buff wants to be known as Marcus and not Buff anymore. Bagwell puts himself over and mentions how he just got beaten by two gay guys. Bagwell says he is done and is going home. He says that Buff has ruined his career and gives Ed his hat. Bagwell walks to the back.

Francine attacks Vaughn before the bell with a belt and chokes Vaughn out. Vaughn returns the favor by doing the same to Francine moments later. Vaughn whips the referee and is disqualified for doing so. DUD
After the match, Ed Ferrera enters the ring again and helps Francine up. Ferrera raises her hand and Francine places Ferrera’s hand on her breast and whips Ferrera again.

Jeremy Borash introduces Hermie Sadler. Sadler has his pit crew with him, which is three overweight fellows. K-Krush comes out again and wants Sadler to shut up about NASCAR. Krush challenges Sadler to hit him or anything. Krush shoves Sadler and Sadler spears Krush down. Security and Sadler’s pit crew breaks up the brief brawl. Krush challenges Sadler to match next week. Sadler accepts.

Young trips Styles up going for a springboard move. Young with a springboard moonsault to the floor. Young with a exploder suplex sending Styles into the corner. Bobcat isn’t paying attention to the match as she is talking on the phone. Young holds his own for quite sometime. Young nearly wins with the spine buster. Styles blocks a hurricanrana and plants Young with a middle rope Styles Clash to pick up the win. **1/4

Backstage, Goldylocks is with Joel Gertner and the Rainbow Express. Gertner says that since none of the other tag teams can compete, the Rainbow Express will be crowned the NWA-TNA World Tag Team Championships. Gertner hits on Goldylocks and kisses her to end the segment.

Eighth Contest: Jerry Lynn/AJ Styles defeated Rainbow Express w/Joel Gertner to win the NWA-TNA World Tag Team Championships:Lynn’s mystery partner is AJ Styles who just wrestled a pretty good match against David Young. Styles with a nice spinning corkscrew dive onto both Express members. Lynn rams Bruce head first into Lane’s groin several times. Lane locks Lynn in the Tiger Tamer but Styles breaks it up. Midway through the contest, Jarrett sends Hall into Christopher who falls off the apron onto the guard railing. Jarrett and Krush work on Hall for a few moments. Christopher is screaming for a “tag”. Hall has a chance to make the tag, but Christopher is out of position. Hall with a double clothesline and goes for the tag, but Christopher moves his hand and nails Hall with a right hand. The referee gets knocked down as Hall nails all three men down. Jarrett with the Stroke and Christopher nails Hall with the Hip Hop Drop to allow Jarrett to pick up the win. *1/2
After the match, Jeff Jarrett rips on Scott Hall and tells Hall that he will run Hall right of the NWA just as he had done in WCW and WWF. Jarrett nails Hall with the trophy that Jim Miller gave Mike Tenay. Hall is getting placed on a stretcher as Jarrett continues his attack on Hall.

My Take:
The opening tag match wasn’t bad, actually. The right tag team went over as I don’t see the Johnsons hanging around long. Brown looked okay for what the match was worth. Buff Bagwell angle should have been played out longer than two weeks. The hardcore match was more of a comedy act in my opinion. The women’s match was pointless really. Sadler facing K-Krush next week is something I’m not looking forward too because odds are Krush will be losing. Shamrock pinning Malice after two moves may have been the wrong move. Makes Malice look weak in my opinion. I’m not sure how David Young was awarded the number one contender ship considering he hadn’t won his one and only match. Jimmy Yang would have made a lot more sense considering he beat Styles in the first week. Solid tag team title match, but TNA is already teasing tension on Lynn’s part with Styles as he looking on while Styles won the match. Although I believe Christopher is a better heel, the events leading up to the heel turn didn’t make sense to me. Why would you have Christopher beat up the guys he is about join up with, just moments before he is going to join them? If you were to eliminate the brawling through the crowd and just have Hall get dominated and then have Christopher turn, it would have worked for me.

Malice grabs the overweight time keeper and goes for a power bomb but Ken Shamrock runs down but is controlled by Malice. Malice takes a long time to go for the choke slam as Omori sprints down to the ring. Shamrock and Omori clean house.

Backstage, The Dupp Brothers are with Goldylocks. Goldylocks asks for Stan his game plan against the Flying Elvises. After some incoherent rambling, Bo Dupp with some odd quotes and heads off with Stan Dupp.

Before the next contest, Jasmine St. Claire debuts with NWA-TNA. Jasmine brings up the real meaning of TNA. Jasmine wants to know if any men want to see some real TNA. Jasmine needs a chair and Slick Johnson quickly throws a chair into the ring. Jeremy Borash is seated and the fans boo Borash. Jasmine begins to give Borash her underwear. End of show.

My Take:
NWA-TNA continue to put on good opening contests. The tag team title match was very entertaining. The Brian Lawler promo was going good until Brian forgot his material it seemed liked. He just kept repeating the same things over and over again. If he were to cut that promo in half, it would have been a good heel promo but it went from good to a average one at best. Lawler/Smiley contest wasn’t bad and it wasn’t a squash match by any means. Lawler needs to improve his talking to get into the main event scene. Considering the lack of depth on the roster at this point, he could easily be considered the second top heel in the company after Jeff Jarrett. Hermie Sadler actually looked good, but having him win even by disqualification was a horrible thing to do. Also, having Sadler get a decent amount of offense against K-Krush hurts Krush. Krush needs to get some big wins over the next few weeks. Malice destroying everyone in the tag team match was okay. Malice needed that to get the monster side over some more, though not being able to control Shamrock again, hurts him again. The Shamrock/Omori match was rather boring but Jeff Jarrett’s attack afterwards was pretty good. If their isn’t a Jeff Jarrett/Ken Shamrock match soon I will be shocked. A good main event, apart from Tony Mamaluke’s activity. Low KI and Daniels put on quite a good showing and KI/Styles next week should be pretty good. Must every show end with Jeff Jarrett brawling with someone?

Jarrett is dressed up like a medic. Tenay hypes up Jarrett as a “monster”.

End of show

My Take:
Sabu/Malice was a average ladder match that had a few sick bumps involved. Malice just can’t get a win, and has such a good gimmick that it’s sad to see. The whole Lynn/Styles segment was nicely done and I like they their bringing up the whole respect aspect into their feud. Styles being the heel is the right call, as I don’t see Lynn as a heel. Krush’s promo was nicely said and it’s good to see that Krush is going to be used as a top tier guy. Sonny Siaki heel attitude is fantastic. Such a easy guy to hate. Estrada put on a good show along with Skipper and Daniels. The midget match and brief women’s match were unentertaining. Judging by the hype they did for the DDT that Blue Meanie did to Francine, I would expect him to be in TNA on a regular basis. Styles/KI was a good encounter with a cool finish. Although it has only been a few weeks, the build up of Styles/Lynn has been nicely done. The main event was really lackluster. Yet another ending to the show involving Jarrett hitting everyone or brawling. Do they really not have any other way to end the show? You can already tell that Jarrett is a main focal point for the programming, but you don’t want to over expose him. Jarrett/Hall in what has to be a last man standing or stretcher match must be coming up in the next few weeks. Perhaps their will not be a Jarrett/Shamrock match after all.

Malice yanks the belt off the hooks and leaves the ring with the belt. **

End of show

My Take:
The opening segment really makes you believe that Jarrett/Shamrock will be happening, it really has to at this point. This was their first real interaction since the first pay per view. Red/KI put on a great show to open up the sixth PPV. Amazing Red deserves to be on the roster after that match. The tag match was pretty average. O’Reilly works too softly, which kind of hurt the match for me. Also, the whole reveal that the Hot Shots attacked Harris and Storm could have been done much better. Ken Shamrock gets checked on by a doctor every week it seems like to me. Sure Apolo got a sneaky win, but this could be a sign that Lawler will be moving down the card. Tag Team title match was average. Nothing was bad about the contest, but nothing that was great either. Looks like they are still promoting issues between Lynn and Styles. Good to see Disco Inferno in NWA-TNA. Inferno had a good promo and some his career highlights he mentioned were quite funny (beating Barry Horowitz fifteen times and retiring Joey Maggs). Skipper setting Brown up was a nice idea. I wonder if Skipper and Truth are now in a alliance or if that was just a one time situation. Ian Harrison got zero crowd reaction from the crowd and he wasn’t impressive. Main Event was really lackluster. Their was one big spot near the end with Sabu diving through the table but it wasn’t fun overall. The whole Malice involvement was butchered with the playing of Shamrock’s music and the lighting going out for two seconds. Just seemed horrible.

She doesn’t seem to care about what Truth is talking about. Truth blocks the woman and says she isn’t a dance and is nothing more than a “two dollar hoe”. Truth says her only future will be as a prositute in the hood. Truth begins to take his jeans off to mess around with the lady, but Monty Brown makes his way over and brawls with Truth. Truth nails Brown with a trash can and a 2x4. Truth lays Brown out and heads to the backstage area.

Ricky Steamboat comes out and mistakenly calls The Truth by his real name “Ron”. Steamboat calls Truth to come back out and Truth comes out with music. Truth wants some respect from Steamboat. Steamboat says that Truth has to earn his respect. Steamboat is here to listen to the Truth. Truth says that he and Steamboat are in the same situation. Truth puts over Steamboat/Savage at Wrestle Mania III. Truth wants to know why Steamboat never got a chance to go for the WWF Heavyweight Championship. Truth says that the WWF IC belt was always for second rated citizens. Truth says that the same thing happened to him (although he never won the IC Championship let alone a tag team championship). Truth wants Steamboat to change things around. Steamboat says that next week the Truth will be taking on Ken Shamrock for the NWA-TNA Heavyweight Championship. Truth dances in the ring and raps.

Tenay, West and Ferrera promote the just announces title match between Shamrock and Truth next week.

Third Contest: Apolo defeated Malice w/Father James Mitchell:
A couple of minutes into the match sees Apolo take Malice out with a somersault dive over the top to the floor. Malice rams Apolo a couple of times into the ring post and busts Apolo wide open. Malice nearly wins following a power bomb in the ring. Malice with a middle rope leg drop for a near fall. Apolo with a tornado DDT and nails Malice with a super kick to pick up the win. *
After the match, Malice choke slams the referee and goes to choke slam Apolo but Don Harris runs down and big boots Malice. Slash runs down with the black hood and plants Harris with a reverse neck breaker. Malice with a choke slam on Harris. Slash and Malice hold Harris while Mitchell rubs blood over Harris’s forehead. New Church leave the ring as Harris and Apolo are hurting in the ring.

Don West is standing in the ring and introduces Miss TNA Taylor Vaughn. Vaughn is greeted with complete silence. West begins to ask Vaughn what she has been up to, but is cut off by Bruce. Bruce says that he was inspired by Truth’s comments. Bruce challenges Vaughn to put her title on the line. Vaughn decides to tease oral sex… to a gay character. She low blows Bruce to start the match.

Fourth Contest: Bruce defeated © Taylor Vaughn to win the Miss TNA Crown:
Vaughn scoop slams Bruce early on. Bruce with a short arm clothesline to stop Vaughn in her tracks. Bruce misses a second rope leg drop. Bruce with a tilt a whirl sit down front slam for the win. DUD

Backstage, Goldylocks is with Low KI who is doing pull ups. KI tells Goldylocks once again that he does his talking in the ring.

Fifth Contest: Jerry Lynn w/ AJ Styles fought Low KI to a no contest:
A rather slow yet evenly contested start to the match. Lynn with a nice tilt a whirl backbreaker that starts to pick up the pace of the contest. KI with several chops and kicks on Lynn. KI locks in the dragon sleeper in the ropes. Guillotine leg drop by Lynn. Lynn actually connects with the Gory Special but only gets a near fall. KI reverses out of the cradle pile driver and locks in a arm bar but Lynn battles out of the hold. For the next several moments Lynn and KI put on a good showing kicking out of each others trademark moves. Styles leaves the announcers table and accidentally hits Lynn with a kick to the back of the neck. KI with the KI Krusher 99 but the referee has sounded for the bell. ***
After the match, Styles stands over Lynn and is taunting Lynn. KI nails Styles with a couple of kicks and Styles bails.

Backstage, Goldylocks is with Don Harris. Harris says that he will get Malice next week in a first blood match after he talks to Ricky Steamboat.

Disco Inferno makes his way to the top of the entrance ramp for this week’s edition of Jive Talking. Inferno says that he has been in talks to replace Oprah, but doesn’t exactly say Oprah. Inferno says that he has a guest to be the first woman to expose herself on Jive Talking. The guest is Goldylocks. Goldylocks doesn’t appreciate being insulted by Inferno. Goldylocks calls Inferno a “jackass”. Inferno tells Goldylocks to have some class and she closes her legs as she is sitting on the couch. They are talking about her music and she says she has been compared to a female Kid Rock. Goldylocks is talking about her music, but Inferno gets bored quickly and wants Goldylocks to show her breasts. Goldylocks refuses to show off her breasts, and gets booed by the guys in the crowd. Inferno makes reference to the Goldylocks only skill being giving oral sex. Goldylocks knees Inferno in the balls and is attacked by Paulina, who was on the first Tough Enough. Paulina locks in a sleeper hold and throws Goldylocks onto a comfy couch. Inferno closes the segment by walking backstage with Paulina.

Don West stands up and begins to promote what we will see next week. AJ Styles takes on Low KI and Jerry Lynn for the NWA-TNA X-Division Championship. Don Harris takes on Malice in a First Blood match. Ken Shamrock will defend the NWA-TNA World Heavyweight Title against The Truth. West is coming across really crazy. His face become as red as his shirt.

Main Event: Jeff Jarrett defeated Scott Hall in a stretcher match:
Hall brawls with Jarrett at the top of the entrance ramp. Hall rams Jarrett face first into the announcers table. Fall away slam by Hall and Jarrett begins to leave ringside but is stopped by Hall. They go backstage where Hall continues his offense with right hands. Jarrett shoves Jerry Lynn. Jarrett nails Hall with a wooden table from the previous segment with Inferno. They brawl into the crowd where Jarrett sends Hall into the guard railing but his offense doesn’t last. Jarrett with a baseball that sends the Jarrett into Hall’s midsection. Jarrett continues to use the stretcher throwing the stretcher across Hall’s back. Hall sends Jarrett into the stretcher in the corner a couple of times. Hall nails Jarrett with “The Edge” but Truth pulls the referee out. Truth with the scissors kick on Hall and Jarrett gets a near fall. Monty Brown runs down and brawls with Truth. Jerry Lynn with a slingshot splash on Jarrett. AJ Styles attacks Lynn, Don Harris crotches Styles on the top rope. Malice and Slash run down and attacks Don Harris. Hall accidentally hit’s the referee with the stretcher. Jarrett has a chair and takes a swing at Steamboat but misses and hits the top rope which causes the chair to hit him in the face. Hall goes to use the chair, but Steamboat stops Hall and Jarrett nails Hall with the Stroke on the chair for the win. *1/2
After the match, Jarrett places Hall on the stretcher.

End of show

My Take: Despite being the number three contender, Elik Skipper got a title shot. What the hell was the purpose of that six man elimination match a couple of weeks ago? The opening match itself had a few sloppy moments but it was evenly contested and fairly entertaining. Monty attacking Skipper made sense considering what Skipper did to Brown last week so that continues the feud.
The Jarrett/midget/Steamboat/Hall segment went too long for my liking. I did not like the usage of a handgun by Puppet and the crowd didn’t seem to enjoy that either. Sonny Siaki continues to be a great heel. The heel versus heel match with Slash and Siaki was average at best. I guess considering the New Church is the top heel stable in TNA, that Slash had to win. Malice is really going to be having a program with Don Harris? Malice goes from a main event heel to working with a lower tier mid carder in Don Harris. The brawl between Brown and Truth was short and yet pretty good. Truth cut a good promo towards Steamboat. Shamrock/Truth has zero actual build and they haven’t had any real interaction with each other. I can’t imagine Truth winning the belt, just doesn’t have the proper build. Now, if Truth were replaced by Jarrett, it would make sense for the match and a possible title change. The crowd doesn’t care for Apolo and I have to say I don’t care for Apolo either. Malice is free falling in terms to importance and it’s sad to see, because Malice has been impressive when he is allowed to be. Bruce/Vaughn match was nothing special, obviously. I found the whole attempt by Vaughn to tease a gay character with sex, to be a stupid thing. I’m assuming that Styles has finally turned on Jerry Lynn. KI/Lynn put on a good match before the finish. This weeks Jive Talking wasn’t great, but Inferno continues to be entertaining. The main event turned into a huge cluster fuck. The ending was creative though I will give them that. Scott Hall must either be done with TNA or he is going to be off TV for awhile with all of the recent jobbing he has been doing.

Backstage, AJ Styles walks out of Steamboat’s office. Apolo gets in Steamboat’s face and Ricky tells Apolo that he will talk to him when he has time. Jerry Lynn enters the room as Steamboat leaves and proceeds to brawl with AJ Styles before security runs in to break the fight up.

Second Contest: Ron "The Truth" Killings defeated Ken Shamrock to win the NWA-TNA World Heavyweight Championship:
Shamrock controls Truth early on with a standing side kick and various arm bar submission attempts. The fans seem to be behind Truth tonight. Truth fights back with a spinning heel kick. Shamrock continues to go for leg submissions but Truth reaches the ropes. Shamrock plants Truth with a power bomb out of the corner. Shamrock locks in the ankle lock submission but Truth again reaches the ropes. New Church is seen watching the match at the top of the ramp. Don Harris and Monty Brown are watching the match as well. Truth with a suplex on the floor. A cluster fuck ensues as several of the previous mention wrestlers come down. Apolo accidentally super kicks Shamrock on the floor Truth nails Shamrock with a diamond cutter and picks up the win and title! **
After the match, Truth celebrates his win. Tenay mentions that Truth is the first black man to win the NWA Heavyweight Championship.

Ricky Steamboat makes his way down to the ring and calls Apolo out to talk to him. Apolo comes out to a course of boos. Steamboat says he may have made a mistake giving Truth a title shot over Apolo. Steamboat repeats his line, twice calling Apolo “a maniac”. Steamboat says that Apolo has earned a title shot and he will get one. Jeff Jarrett cuts him off and isn’t happy with that statement. Jarrett says that the past seven weeks he has been waiting patiently for his shot. Jarrett says he is a victim of “reverse discrimination”. Jarrett says if he were a minority he would be given a title shot. Steamboat announces that tonight their will be a number one contenders match where if Apolo beats Jarrett he will get a title shot. If Jarrett beats Apolo, he will get The Truth. Steamboat says he will be the special referee and he will be calling the match right down the middle.

Disco Inferno makes his way out for Jive Talking. Inferno doesn’t appreciate not having a fancy set up like he had previously. The Dupp Brothers cut Inferno off and introduce themselves. Bo Dupp introduces the “Dupp Cup Invitational”. Bo says that their Dupp Cup Invitational will become the new hardcore division in NWA-TNA since Ricky Steamboat said they could do anything. Stan says you need to win ten points to win the match. The points system goes like this.
- Put your opponent through a table you get 2 ½ points.
- Put your opponent through a flaming table you get 5 points.
-Put your opponents head in a toilet you get 2 ½ points.
- Put your opponents head in a toiler with crap in it you get 3 ½ points.
- If you touch a woman’s butt you get 2 ½ points.
- If you touch a man’s butt you get 3 ½ points.
- If you hit Jeremy Borash you get 2 ½ points.
- If you hit Sarah the ticket lady you also get 2 ½ points.
- If you use a farm animal you get 2 ½ points.
- If you spank your opponents bare ass with their play horse you get 2 ½ points.
- If they like the above action, you lose 2 ½ points.
- If you introduce your opponent to Jay you get 2 ½ points. (they don’t know who Jay is)
- If you cry in the ring like a pussy you lose 5 points.
- If you stick your opponents head into the cotton candy machine and completes one rotation you get 10 points.
Inferno suggests wrestlers using a weapon from a fan to get 5 points. Stan says they give them one point. Stan doesn’t appreciate what Inferno did to Goldylocks. Stan reveals to have a shirt with a photo of Goldylocks with a heart around the picture. Paulina walks out and gets in Stan’s face. They will offer their opponents approx. sixty four cents. Stan says if their opponent wins they get one night with Fluff Dupp. Ed Ferrera drops his headset and accepts the challenge.

Third Contest: Dupp Brothers defeated Ed Ferrera in a Dupp Cup Invitational:
Ed nails Borash to get 2 ½ points. Ed goes over to Don West and proceeds to touch West’s butt to get some points. Stan grabs a chair from a fan and nails Ed and their down six to two following a chair shot from Bo. Stan tosses his boot to a fan and nails Ed to get more points. They proceed to use a few more weapons to cut the score to six to five. Stan throws Jay, which is a blow up doll, and nails Ed. Bo is trying to beat up Sarah the ticket lady. Sarah comes out with a broom and begins to chase Bo away. Inferno gets in Stan’s face and Stan is low blowed by Paulina. Ed gets to 9 ½ though West says he is at 8 ½. Ed grabs their horse and hits Bo in the butt but Bo likes it so he loses some points. Bo choke slams Ed through the table to get ten points and wins the match. *1/2

A interview from earlier in the day with Mike Tenay talking to Monty Brown is shown. Brown discusses his football career and his awards. Monty says the transition from football to wrestling wasn’t difficult for him. Politics is brought up and he basically says they are involved in every sport. Monty says he doesn’t like The Truth or “Ronnie” as he will always call him. Elik Skipper runs into the scene and attacks Monty with yellow paint. Skipper doesn’t appreciate Monty not sticking up for what he and Truth begin. Skipper says Monty never lived the street fight. Skipper calls Brown a “chicken” before leaving.

Fourth Contest: Malice w/ Father James Mitchell defeated Don Harris in a first blood match:
Malice and Harris brawl all over the building trying to make each other bleed. Slash comes running down with a ice pick of sorts and tries to hit Harris but fails. Harris nails Slash with the ice pick to fight off Slash. In a weird turn of a events, Harris delivers a side walk slam and is busted open. Malice wins. *
After the match, Malice and Slash attack Harris.

Backstage, Goldylocks is backstage outside of Taylor Vaughn’s locker room. Sonny Siaki comes over and asks where Ricky Steamboat is. Goldylocks doesn’t know. Bruce comes over and enters Vaughn’s locker room. Vaughn shoves Bruce into the shower and wants a shot at Bruce. Bruce accepts and says they will fight in a evening gown match.

Fifth Contest: Jeff Jarrett defeated Apolo (special referee Ricky Steamboat):
Apolo with a big sit out power bomb early on which only gets a near fall. Jarrett sends Apolo into the ring steps and announcers table which causes Apolo to bleed. Jarrett crotches Apolo on the top turnbuckle and Apolo is in the tree of woe. Jarrett nearly wins with the figure four but Apolo manages to reverse the hold. Apolo with a tornado DDT to stop Jarrett’s momentum. Apolo nails Jarrett with a savant kick and thinks he wins the match but Jarrett got his foot on the bottom rope. Apolo with a German suplex and Jarrett gets his shoulder up at two, but Apolo doesn’t and Steamboat counts the three. Jarrett wins. *1/2
After the match, Apolo isn’t happy with Steamboat. Steamboat tells Jarrett he is a man of his word. Steamboat says he didn’t say he would give Jarrett the Truth in a NWA Heavyweight title match. Instead, he will have the Truth be Jarrett’s tag team partner as they will face NWA Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn next week.

Sixth Contest: © Bruce defeated Taylor Vaughn in a evening gown match to retain the Miss TNA crown:
This is the bathroom break portion of this show/review. Nobody in the crowd cares for Taylor Vaughn. After about a minute and a half. Bruce wins the match by taking Vaughn’s gown off after a inverted face buster slam. DUD
After the match, Bruce wants to make sure everyone goes home happy so he proceeds to strip down to his under garments.

Don West is given a microphone to sell next weeks show. West plugs various merchandize that can be bought on the website and at the shows. West is going nuts. I feel that if you don’t by the show, West will be very upset with you.

Main Event: Low KI defeated (c) AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn to win the
NWA-TNA X-Division Championship:
Fast pace start to the match with all three men getting a series of moves in. Styles with a kip up hurricanrana on KI and follows up with a torture rack face buster and a spin kick. Lynn with a sit out face buster on Styles for a near fall. Lynn with a guillotine leg drop on KI. KI with a sunset flip roll up on Lynn, who takes Styles down with a German suplex for a near fall. KI locks in the dragon sleeper on Styles and then places the move on Lynn as well. Lynn fights out with a DDT for a near fall. Lynn with a elevated spike DDT on Styles for another near fall. Lynn blocks Styles kick and Styles flips over and nails KI with a reverse DDT! Lynn with a springboard sun set flip power bomb off the middle rope on Styles who takes KI off the top with a superplex! KI with the hanging dragon on Styles in the corner until Lynn dropkicks KI. KI plants Styles with the Styles Clash but only gets a two count. Lynn nails KI with the KI Krusher 99 but only gets a two count. Styles with the cradle pile driver on Lynn for another two count. KI takes the referee out with a clothesline in the corner. Styles grabs a chair and viciously nails Lynn over the head. KI rolls in and covers Lynn while Styles leaps off the top with the Spiral Tap. Apparently, Styles was unable to knock KI off of Lynn. KI wins the title! ***

Backstage, Jeff Jarrett is arguing with The Truth over a title shot.

Back to the ring, Lynn and Styles fight like usual. For some reason, Jarrett and Truth make their way down to the ring and want to get it on.

My Take:
A good start to the show with a fast pace contest that had zero rest holds. The right group went over but the SAT and Red were impressive. Surprised to see the heavyweight title match on so early, but it makes sense considering their has been zero actual hype for it apart from the segment last week. Judging by the crowd reaction, putting the strap on Truth was a great move. The crowd is really behind Truth. I wonder if he will be a heel for long since the crowd is really cheering him on. I actually like Jarrett claiming to be a victim of reverse discrimination. That is such a heel thing to say that their isn’t a way you can’t boo that. Good job Jarrett. Steamboat being the referee seems to be used too much and its only eight weeks into the company. The Dupp segment was actually fairly funny but it dragged on with the match. Ed Ferrera was pretty entertaining throughout, though. I also find it funny that Skipper would attack Monty Brown with yellow paint. He couldn’t find a chair or something? I get that the paint embarrasses Brown but Brown sold it as if he got a concussion from the beating. Also kind of funny that Skipper would call Brown a chicken, considering Skipper is the one who attacked Brown from behind but he is the heel, so it works. I didn’t understand the finish of the first blood match. Harris was busted open following his own offense move which didn’t require his head. The finish of Apolo/Jarrett would have been good if Steamboat didn’t hesitate when Jarrett got his shoulder up. I like the whole angle with Steamboat continually screwing over Jarrett in his quest to become the heavyweight champion. The less said about the evening gown match, the better if you ask me. KI winning the belt is fine, but Styles should have gotten a longer run with the strap, and lose it to Lynn. Jarrett must always close the show I take it. The tag team match next week is surely going to be one big cluster fuck.

Bruce begins to scan the crowd to see who will face him. Bruce says you have to have more than one tooth. Bruce says Athena isn’t a woman. Jeremy Borash goes over to a clearly planted woman and she signs a release to fight Bruce.

Sixth Contest: © Low KI defeated The Flying Elvises in a
four man elimination match to retain the NWA-TNA X-Division Championship:
Siaki starts the match with KI and manages to block a hurricanrana into a nice power bomb for a near fall. Estrada enters and connects with a standing shooting star press on KI for a near fall of his own. KI gets his knees up to block a springboard moonsault. KI with several kicks and soon locks Estrada in a dragon sleeper while in the ropes. Estrada with a nice slingshot split legged moonsault but Siaki pulls Estrada off the cover. Yang with a spinning leg lariat off the middle turnbuckle. Estrada tags in to replace KI and goes at with his own teammate Yang. Estrada takes Yang out with a somersault splash on the floor. Yang locks in a Boston Crab and Estrada taps out, although Yang went backward too much and botched the first elimination. Yang goes for the Yang Time, but Siaki crotches him on the top rope. Styles and Jarrett get hot tags and styles nearly connects with the Styles Clash but Killings gets involved. Styles knocks the referee out after coming off the ropes and falls to the floor. Lynn has Jarrett pinned following a reverse DDT but their isn’t a referee. Lynn spikes Killings with the cradle pile driver but Jarrett attacks Lynn and connects with the Stroke. Styles with the Spiral Tap on Killings. Another referee comes down and both referees count a three count. **
After the match, Bob Armstrong comes down and immediately says the belts are held up. Armstrong also announces that Killings must defend the Heavyweight Championship against Monty Brown next week. Armstrong turns his attention to Lynn and Styles. Armstrong says that they will fight next week. Lynn wants a Falls Count Anywhere match. Styles a No Disqualification Match. Though, NO DQ is involved with a Falls Count Anywhere match. Armstrong says that next week Styles and Lynn will fight in a two out of three falls match. The first two falls will be No Disqualification and Falls Count Anywhere with the third fall being a ten minute iron man match. Bob Armstrong says that he has a surprise for Jarrett’s challenge next week.

Don West screams while promoting next weeks show. Apparently Sonny Siaki and Jimmy Yang will do battle in a two out of three falls. So, we will get two of the same matches on the same show. Brilliant.

Mike Tenay cuts Jarrett off and we go backstage where Lawler re-enters the building and chokes Jeff Jarrett while saying “I’m going to kill you.”.

My Take:
I’ve been liking Truth’s promos as of late, but he was rambling and repeating the same things he has been saying for the past month. Behrens is a goof and I couldn’t take him seriously which was the clear attempt by his actions but I didn’t like it. Lawler attacking Jarrett was confusing. Is this an attempt to turn Jarrett into a baby face, possibly? Curious to hear what Jarrett may have done to Lawler. It took nearly twenty minutes to get actual wrestling this week. That’s not good as I don’t see people wanting to pay for promos. The opening bout was quite exciting and a fast pace contest, but since it was nothing but high spots it wasn’t great or anything. Hopefully Kid Kash will be in TNA for awhile. The female fan for the miss TNA crown match was good for the first fifteen seconds. After that, the match was repetitive and boring. I find it weird that Malice lost the match following his own offense move through the table. The match was uneventful and had a lot of similar moves from their match last week. The Dup Cup matches should never go beyond three minutes of action, especially with Don West screeching. This must be a hardcore wrestling edition for TNA. Not quite sure a street fight stipulation needed to be used for Brown/Skipper. Their match wasn’t really anything special anyway and Skipper wasn’t able to do his usual routine of impressive moves with a limited Monty Brown. The X-Division fatal four elimination match was a solid encounter. Siaki appears to have officially separated himself from the goofy gimmick with Estrada and Yang. TNA couldn’t get any celebrity bigger than Dean Baldwin? Dean has a celebrity name, but isn’t a celebrity if you ask me. Jive Talking was pretty lackluster this week though Inferno plays the heel well. Looks like the Dupp Brothers will no longer be in TNA, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Typical bogus finish to the main event. Usually with a finish like that a tournament will take place to crown new champions and were only nine weeks in. Hopefully Bob Armstrong gets a good surprise to fight Jeff Jarrett. Styles/Lynn should be good next week. Though, I’m sensing Monty/Killings will be lackluster because of Brown. The ending was once again centered around Jarrett. Lawler saying he is going to kill Jarrett must mean that Jarrett really screwed him over. That surprise is something that has me anxious to see what happens next.

End of show

My Take:
Looks like Ed Ferrera is no longer commentating for NWA-TNA. I’d much rather prefer Ferrera over Don West. I find that companies need the typical baby face announcer, like Tenay, and need a heel commentator something that Ferrera would bring. Instead, we will get Don West who over reacts to simple moves and agrees with Tenay on virtually everything. The opening contest was a good way to start the show. Shocking to see the pin fall actually take place outside the ring. The tag team match wasn’t great by any means but it was a solid encounter for sure. I do like the tag team of Ron Harris and Brian Lee they seem to work well together. I also like that this edition, early on at least, seemed to be action driven. Their wasn’t a ten minute promo to start the show which was nice to see. Jimmy Yang is really over with the Tennessee crowd. The match between Siaki/Yang was solid, but I didn’t like the best two out of three falls stipulation since there is already that type of match on the show between Lynn and Styles. Jarrett and Lawler brawl was fine, I guess. The quick transitions from each segment was interesting to see, but I’m not sure if I’m a fan of that. Sometimes you need to space things out so that the viewer can digest everything. Judging by who Lawler fought on this show (Slash), I have to think that he is the baby face or at the very least a tweener. However, judging by the response that is not working at all. The fans continue to chant “Lawler’s Kid” and boo him quite loudly. Jarrett must really want to be the top heel and not have anyone steal his thunder. For the casual fans out their, that would be known as politics and since Jarrett co-owns the company he runs everything. Lawler/Slash was a solid contest with the right guy going over. Lawler seems to have a desire to compete well and it is showing. The fans simply love Low Ki and who can blame them, Ki is simply one hell of a wrestler. A good X-Division title match that saw plenty of high risk moves. I’m completely confused with what happened after the world title match. Lawler is a heel I know that, but is Jarrett a heel or baby face now? Jarrett is feuding with Bob Armstrong, a baby face authority figure so I have no idea. Also, if Monty Brown is a baby face then why wouldn’t have helped Jarrett when he was getting beaten up? I guess that would mean Jarrett is still a heel. But, I’m not sure as I can’t imagine a in-depth angle being centered around three heels feuding. Lynn/Styles series of matches were good and entertaining but kind of got boring as seeing any two guys wrestle three separate times throughout the show will do that to someone. A triple threat ladder match next week sounds interesting and I’m sure that will be one of the high spot matches on the show. It was obvious to me that Bob Armstrong wasn’t the guy who came down to the ring.. Because he was wearing a mask. The guy was also clearly younger and in shape. I know who it is.. But I won’t tell you.. Until next week!

My Take:
Kash/Red was a fun match but the constant high spots and then no selling of the moves is bothering. I mean, a gorilla press slam off the top by Kash, and then right after that Red is in control? TNA makes it seem like these guys can recover in two seconds after some what you would think to be vicious moves. Makes you wonder why these guys wouldn’t be able to compete for the top title. If Red can kick out of a gorilla press slam off the top, I’m sure he could kick out of The Stroke other lesser impact finishers that the main event guys have. Well, that Monty Brown/Sonny Siaki bout went on way too long for my liking. Brown controlled the match for really the whole bout, but still loses. Sure Jarrett got involved but that loss doesn’t help Siaki at all and it makes Brown look foolish. Besides, Brown is very green and shouldn’t be in top level angles. I am not a fan of Cobain, as I am not a fan of bringing real life events into storylines. I don’t get the ruling that if you are tagged in during the tag team elimination match while your partner is in, you would have to wrestle him. Wouldn’t that mean if you beat your partner, you would eliminated from the match? Why would someone want to do that? The match itself was alright, again quite a few high spots but it wasn’t overkill like some matches. TNA appears to be trying to get Brian Lee and Ron Harris over as a high caliber tag team. Bruce/April Hunter was nothing special and was thankfully kept short. Bruce is still entertaining. West/Tenay really over hyped up the ladder match in my opinion. At one point Tenay would act as if he had forgotten that match was on this show. Maximo/Elvises match was slow at the start but really picked up at the end. The crowd was really dead for that match which took away from many of the high impact moves. We have waited quite a long time to find out what Brian Lawler was claiming Jeff Jarrett did to him and when he finally tells us all he says is “it has something to do with my girlfriend”. This makes me think that the TNA bookers have no idea what to say and came up with the idea that Jarrett was messing around with Lawler’s girlfriend and just leave it at that. It appears that Lawler is being portrayed as very protective of his girl and thus that creates conflicts with some people. Jarrett/Bullet match was more of a brawl and just something to get to the aftermath. People in the crowd already know who the masked guy is. However, I will act like Don West and Mike Tenay and act as if I have no idea. Good ladder match to end the show. I do wish that Low Ki had gotten a longer run as champion. He was a such a force in the division that he could have held onto the strap for a long time. Lynn is a good choice and I would suspect that he and Styles will continue to feud, and now it will be over the X-Division championship. Just a random note, but this show seemed to not have a lot of people in attendance. During the Jarrett segment it was really clear to me that the bleachers were nearly empty. That is not good. I would think that in the coming weeks TNA will be bringing in bigger names to start attracting some people to the shows. Jeff Jarrett just isn’t enough to sell tickets, that was made clear back in WCW. TNA is showing a best of X-Division on 9/4 and is not airing a show on 9/11 out of respect to the events of the 9/11 attacks last year. TNA returns on 9/18 with the Gauntlet for the Gold, tag team style.

My Take:
This week the TNA Asylum was packed, and that really helps the show in terms of entertainment. A riled up crowd is always a good thing, just ask people involved with ECW. People were really pumped up for action. BG James being the masked man was obvious since day one, and when he revealed himself, he didn’t get that big of a reception. I don’t see a James/Jarrett feud being all that entertaining. It took fifteen minutes before the opening contest was presented. A very, very enjoyable opening contest with Styles/Kash that went around ten minutes. A great way to start the show in terms of in ring action. Though, I am confused as to call Kid Kash a baby face or heel. I mean, he did attack Amazing Red after their match the other week, turning heel, but this week he faces a heel AJ Styles. Hopefully in the coming weeks, Kid Kash will choose a side. Diamond/Tiny was completely a waste of time. What is the purpose of getting Dustin Diamond over? I guess the Hot Shots aren’t seen as a priority in TNA as they lose to four guys making their TNA debut. Cassidy O’Reilly is someone who really impresses me and I see him as someone who will thrive in TNA. Bruce is a good heel, I just wish he would start working with guys and not with woman. Bruce continues to get some the best heat in TNA. I really think that Ron Harris and Brian Lee should have won the straps over Chris Harris and James Storm. Ron and Brian Lee could be a dominate force and then lose the straps to Chris Harris and James Storm in a few months. The main event this week was nothing that special. Lynn was a bloody mess, so if you like seeing that kind of stuff, then you’d like seeing Lynn busted wide open. TNA showcased their first swerve in their history with people thinking AJ Styles would screw Jerry Lynn over, but instead it was Sonny Siaki. I liked that, caught me off guard considering the camera was usually on Styles. Next week, BG/Jarrett and Syxx/Lawler are the top matches. However, I am looking forward to seeing Low Ki return and begin his quest to get his title back.
