Recent Talent Releases

D-Man

Gone but never forgotten.
So far, Alex Riley, Hornswoggle, Cameron, Zeb Colter, El Torito, and Santino Marella have been released.

Discuss.

Wade Barrett just got added. No biggie, though, his contract was expiring in the next couple months anyways, and he had already made mention he wasn't going to re-sign. He's supposedly retiring from wrestling.

RIP... "The Jacket."

Right, Norcal?

It does, but he's retired from in-ring competition. Makes sense to release him here, then re-sign him to a legends deal,

This. I will (and have) miss(ed) him in the ring. I always loved the little teases of him winning a big match, like when it was down to him and ADR in the RR (2012?).

I'm guessing that Shinsuke's match with Alex Riley will be Riley's last match. Odd, seemed like they were trying to repackage Alex Riley. That's the only really shocking name on that list. Wade had checked out mentally months ago, and based on how long it's been since we've seen them, I'm surprised that everyone else on that list hadn't been released already.

Nobody else on that list has ever had a match as good as the one that Hornswoggle and El Torito had, I don't give a fuck.

Breathing a huge sigh of relief knowing Alex Riley probably won't be going over Nakamura on next week's NXT. The tension had been driving me mental.

Man Santinos release hurts a bit but it really makes sense, Hornswoggle and Torito don't matter, Zeb will be a Hall of Famer some day so thats ok, as For Alex Riley, Damien Sandow and Wade Barretts releases, that just makes me angry, horrible, horrible choice by releasing these three, and i know Wade asked for it but i feel WWE should have tried to convince him as he's the definition of a 10 star Superstar!!

Barrett and Shandow are the worst. Both of them were supposed "future World Heavyweight Champions".. Such a shame. Barrett however stil can return some day. I think he's too good for TNA at the moment.

Barrett is taking some time off from wrestling period, I wouldn't worry about him going to TNA.

Most I understand but getting rid of a guy like Sandow who could get over baking pies every week is nutty. I think Zeb and Marella still had something to offer although it's not a head scratcher why they parted ways, the rest are totally understandable.

I'm not surprised. The talent pool is STACKED right now. It's not that he isn't good but he just might not be good enough. That or creative just doesn't have anything for him and you can't force that sometimes.

No I get that, my thing with Sandow is he got over doing pretty much everything he ever got. He may not be a main eventer, he may not even be a credible threat but he's easily a guy who could take 5-10 minutes every week and make it entertaining which is something most of the roster can't do. He's even a guy you don't need all the time but if they need a new tag team for the New Day they could pair him up with someone and it would work and be good, if they need someone to face The Miz and make him look good they could use Sandow and he would make it work.

Guys like that are very valuable and for me it would make sense to keep a guy like that around. Hes not someone you'd necessarily build but he could be very useful in building others.

The abundance of talent able to be inserted into main or upper mid card feuds means the fat was bound to he trimmed eventually. Sandow is really the only one I will miss. They dropped the ball with him a bit. The others are completely understandable for various reasons.

Between ROH, LU, AAA& NJPW they should be fine. Pretty sure TNA will try for one or two of them. Riley seems like the guy TNA would fap over him, but the other promotions are probably a safer bet for anyone wanting to get a decent check/exposure. Wade could be a nice fit for Bullet Club after he takes his time off.

Absolutely gutted that Sandow is gone. The guy had fantastic charisma, no matter the role he played. Easily one of my favourites throughout his time in the WWE, but it doesn't surprise me too much.

Sandow isn't actually that big a loss. He's insanely overrated by people. In reality, he was pretty much the perfect jobber to the stars, and nothing more.

Barrett is a different story. He could've been something good, but he couldn't stay healthy long enough.

But all in all, I'm not gonna be losing sleep over these releases.
