Rebooking Survivor Series 1994

MMK

Getting Noticed By Management
THE RAZORS EDGE
Razor Ramon, The 1-2-3 Kid, Headshrinkers
vs
THE KLIQ
Shawn Micheals, Diesel, Jeff Jarrett, The Roadie

Razor and The Kid had feuds with all 4 members of the heel team here which features Shawn and his bodyguard teaming up with Jeff Jarrett and his bodyguard. Meanwhile Shawn and Diesel had recently taken the tag team titles from The Headshrinkers making them the logical choice to pair up with Razor and The Kid.

SURVIVORS: Shawn and Diesel. They had great chemistry together and were super over as heels. No need to split them up and force feed us Diesel as champion when he was not ready. Plus, they're the tag team champions. SurivoR Series is all about tag team competition so logically the tag champs should have a psychological advantage. Tag teams so rarely won at Survivor Series which made very little sense. If two mega stars like Shawn and DIesel can't get the W, then what team can?

THE KINGS COURT
Yokozuna, Owen Hart, Jim Neidhart, Bob Backlund, Jerry The King Lawler
VS
TEAM HART & SOUL
The Undertaker, Bret Hart, The British Bulldog, Bob Holly, Rowdy Roddy Piper

Bret Hart had feuds in 1994 with every single member of this heel faction captained by The King Of Harts Owen Hart. Owens is paired up with his brother in law The Anvil, while Bret teams with his brother in law Davey Boy. Joining forces with Owen is fellow King Jerry Lawler and Bob Backlund, who had just snapped and attacked Bret Hart and while I didn't mind the feud I don't feel it warranted being a title match worthy feud. Backlund only ever won the belt so he could be a transitional champion and drop the belt to Diesel a few days later, who, as I already mentioned, I feel was rushed to the main event way too soon. Owen's final partner is his future tag team partner, and the man Bret defeated for the title earlier in the year at Mania, Yokozuna who was now feuding with the recently returned Undertaker. Roddy Piper also made a return in 1994, making 2 appearances at Wrestlemania X and King Of The Ring where he fought Jerry Lawler (in one of the worst main events in wrestling history). I would have scrapped that match entirely and saved Piper's second appearance for this event where he could have teamed with long time on again off again rival/ally Bret Hart in a limited capacity. I originally had Doink the Clown as the 5th member of Bret's team as he was feuding with Lawler at the time, but I was never a fan of the feud nor was I fan of Doink turning face to begin with so I stuck Bob Holly in there instead.

SURVIVOR: Bret Hart and The Undertaker

The Million Dollar Corporation
Tatanka, King Kong Bundy, Bam Bam Bigelow, I.R.S, Doink
VS
Guts And Glory
Lex Luger, Mabel, Adam Bomb, Smoking Gunns

Not sure why they didn't have the Million Dollar Corporation teaming up at the 94 survivor series as they had 5 members in Tatanka, Bundy, Bigelow, IRS and Volkoff. Why they stuck the Heavenly Bodies with Tatanka, Bundy and Bigelow is beyond me. Anyway, I keep the corporation together only with one exception. Forget Volkoff. Forget he ever joined the stable. I would have rathered see a heel Doink in the Corporation. Dibiase would have made a great manager for Doink, certainly an improvement over Dink, as both Dibiase and Doink have those devilisly over the top supervillian laughs. Meanwhile, Lugers team stays the same as it was in 94.

SURVIVORS: Bundy and Bigelow

WILDCARD GRANDE FINALE
Shawn, Bundy, Bigelow
VS
Bret, Undertaker, Diesel

(This is where I throw in a swerve. The Grande Finale here is under wildcard rules, meaning the 6 men who have advanced will be randomly paired together through the luck of the draw. This results in Shawn and Diesel ending up on opposite teams. At some point, Shawn tells Diesel to just lay down and let him pin him. Diesel refuses. Shawn gets in his face but before they end up coming to blows Bundy and Bigelow attack Diesel. Bret and Taker even the odds. During the melee, Shawn hides on the outside not wanting to get involved. In the end Shawn is alone on the heel side and decides to bail. Shawn is counted out and the Survivors are Bret, Undertaker and Diesel. Bret and Taker have their arms raised while a pissed-off Shawn stands alone at the top of the isle holding his tag team title. Diesel is invited to celebrate with Bret and Taker but instead attacks them both. Shawn returns to the ring where he and Diesel attack the faces with the tag titles and celebrate together.

This sets up a tag team feud between the 4 over the next little while but at the same time we do get some disention between Shawn and Diesel without a full blown break up and Diesel being pushed as a main event babyface. I would still have Shawn and Diesel break up but I would save it for after the Royal Rumble and there match at Wrestlemania would be for the Intercontinental Title not the WWF title meanwhile Bret would face Undertaker for the WWF title in a babyface vs babyface main event.

I really like your card. I would keep some of the matches the same but add my twist.

Bret Hart, Rowdy Piper, British Bulldog, Sparky Plugg
vs.
Bob Backland, Owen Hart, Jim the Anvil, Pierre Oulette

Razor Ramon, 1-2-3 Kid, Headshrinkers
vs.
Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Jeff Jarrett, Roadie

Lex Luger, Atom Bomb, Men on a Mission
vs.
Tatanka, King Kong Bundy, Bam Bam Bigalow, Nikolia Volkoff

Doink the Clown, Duke "The Dumpster" Drose, and Bushwhakers
vs.
Jerry Lawler, Henry Godwinn, Well Dunn

Alundra Blaze vs. Bull Nakano
Knowing that Alunda Blaze is leaving the WWF for WCW now would be a good time to put over Bull Nakano. I believe the Women's title could have continued onward without Alundra Blaze

Undertaker vs. Yokozuna
Keep this match from the original card

Smoking Gunns vs. Heavenly Bodies
This could be your pre-show match

I love your thread and I love your card, MMK. Here's my version.

The Blayzers – Alundra Blayze and 4 other ladies
vs.
The Lunatics – Luna Vachon, Bull Nakano and 3 other ladies

The Bad Guys – Razor Ramon, The 1-2-3 Kid, and the Headshrinkers (Samu, Fatu and Sione) (with Afa and Lou Albano)
vs.
The Teamsters (Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Jeff Jarrett, and the Heavenly Bodies (Jimmy Del Ray and Tom Prichard) (with Jim Cornette)

Guts and Glory (Lex Luger, Mabel, Adam Bomb and The Smoking Gunns (Billy Gunn and Bart Gunn)) (with Oscar)
vs.
The Million Dollar Team (Irwin R. Schyster, Bam Bam Bigelow, Tatanka, King Kong Bundy, and Kwang (with Ted DiBiase)

Hart and Soul – Bret the Hitman Hart, The Undertaker, The British Bulldog (with Paul Bearer), and the Doinks (Matt Osborne or Ray Liachelli and Steve Keirn) (with Dink)
vs.
The Kings of Wrestling – Bob Backlund, Yokozuna, Owen Hart, Jim the Anvil Neidhart, and Jerry the King Lawler (with Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette)

I tried to keep everyone that was on the original card on my version. Instead of two 5-on-5 traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team match, a 4-on-4 traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team match, the Casket match and the WWE Championship Throw In The Towel Submission match, I made it four 5-on-5 matches.

Good thread. Survivor Series 1994 was a fun show.

I would not have changed The Bad Guys vs. The Teamsters at all. It was a unique way to kick things off.

Bret Hart vs. Bob Backlund was worked brilliantly. The Owen Hart theatrics was classic. How a person can think of that segment and not crack a smile is beyond me. You see, when I think of rebooking a show I don't think about the storyline ramifications of the year and era. I think about what would make that individual show better. Removing Bret vs. Backlund would have hurt the show's quality.

The two matches I would alter involve Yokozuna and Lex Luger. Fans never got closure on Luger vs. Yokozuna. Luger could have beaten Yokozuna one on one at Survivor Series as a company rebuild of the Man Made in the USA. That gimmick is the biggest “What could have been?” in WWE history. Yokozuna's date with Taker would have taken a holiday.

In my vision Undertaker would have switched spots with Luger at Survivor Series 94. In the elimination match Mabel and Adam Bomb would get pinned early. The Smoking Gunns would then take out the Heavenly Bodies. Bam Bam would moonsault Billy Gunn for the three count, leaving Taker and Bart Gunn to battle Bam Bam, Tatanka, and Bundy. Bart Gunn dodges a headbutt by Bam Bam and tags in Taker. Then business picks up. Taker pins Bigelow with a chokeslam. Bundy jumps Taker. Bundy then connects with a splash and goads the fans. Taker sits up, delivers a few strikes to Bundy followed by a flying clothesline for the pin. Finally Tatanka enters and Bart Gunn calls Taker for a tag. Taker decides to defeat Tatanka alone. He tombstones Tatanka for the victory; DiBiase walks away shocked and bewildered. Bart Gunn enters the ring, complains for not being tagged, and Taker gives him a tombstone for good measure. Survivors: Undertaker and Bart Gunn.

I have enjoyed reading these posts but I must say this has been your best re-write to date. I have always thought WWE dropped the ball by not having Taker and Bret work for the title at Mania 11. I also thought that Diesel and Shawn should have fought over the IC title at this event. With those two matches for the top titles in the company plus the Bigalow/LT match your looking at a nice triple main event.

Thank you for providing a nice re-write that lays the foundation for how we would get there.

This was a good ppv, it was solid from start to finish but I would change a couple of people around and make some matches better, my card would be:

1) Razor Ramon, 1-2-3 Kid & Headshrinkers Vs Michaels, Diesel, Heavenly Bodies.
8 Man Survivor Series Elimination Match. I've seen this opener and I like it I would put the Bodies in there to round up the team for Michaels and I would have Michaels and Diesel as the survivors with the winners showing tension.

2) Doink, Jannety, Sparky, The Dumpster Vs Jerry Lawler, Jarrett, Roadie & Kwang
8 Man Survivor Series Elimination Match. This is a filler match but I feel it would be better than the one we had and I would have Lawler as the sole survivor for his team.

3)Bret Hart (C) Vs Bob Backlund
Wwf Title Submission Match. I liked this match and it should stay the same tbh with Backlund getting the win but without Owen and Bulldog at ringside.

4) Undertaker, Bulldog, Bomb & MOM Vs Tatanka, Bigelow, IRS, Crush & Bundy.
10 Man Survivor Series Elimination Match. This would be a great addition to the match with Undertaker being the sole survivor of his team and eliminating half of the team and setting up some decent feuds for the future.

5) Lex Luger Vs Yokozuna
Number 1 Contenders Match. I would have these two square off one on one to resolve their feud from earlier in the year with Luger getting the win.
