Ever since I first stumbled on this site probably 10 years ago they have been posting the ratings. I can understand, to a degree, why they posted them back in the monday night wars era, but why post them now?

As a fan of the genre(sports entertainment, wrestling, soap opera, etc) we shouldn't concern ourselves if Raw scores a 5.0 or a 2.5. Who cares if TNA scores a 1.0 or a 2.2? The product is not going to change because of the ratings. I'm just wondering other peoples input and reasoning why you check the ratings every week.

To be honest i never check the ratings on any shows!! WWE is like taxes always will be there for us to enjoy!! I love WWE have loved it since i was 6 years old!!! Ratings to me dont matter its the show that does

.

I have to slightly dissagree with you, Ratings is really everything in the Television industry. I mean without ratings sponsors will back out in a heartbeat and sign on to a show that people actaully watch. But i do agree with it being posted every week. its not something horrible but to me its pointless because i will watch MNR and FNSD no matter if the ratings are increasing or decreasing. I love the product so i will watch, if that were to change then ill just be another number they lost... but i highly doudt vince will let his "universe" crumble so we will be fine.

That's what I'm getting at. I know how important they are to the company but as a fan they shouldn't matter at all. I clicked on this weeks and was reading the comments and people were saying stuff about how the ratings should have been higher because the show was solid. It's just beyond me why, as fans, people care so much about the ratings

Because the product itself bores the shit out of me lately (at least, those which are on television enough to generate a rating), and I find an analysis of professional wrestling with an eye towards making profit to be more entertaining to me.

As far as the product not changing because of ratings, you could not be more wrong on that. Any television program will change based on its ratings. If what you're doing isn't working, you change it- look at how many approaches TNA/IW has had towards Impact! over the past two years. Ratings are what tells you if your product is or isn't working, because the sole thing you are concerned about as a content producer is how many people in which age groups are watching your show. If your ratings are headed down or staying flat, not changing is equivalent to delayed death.i
