Rating the Wrestler #2 Raven

noly

Dark Match Winner
Ok, I am back with the second addition of Rating the Wrestler! This we will be focusing on one of the most unique wrestler in the sport. Raven! For those who do not know how I come up with these ratings:

In Ring Ability: Of course this means how well you can wrestler, work and carry a match, and how well you perform your various moves.

Charisma: How well you connect with the fans and your in-ring presence.

Mic SKills: The gift of the spoken word, how well you get arcoss your point (promos ect...)

Durability: Your match work rate, and the ability to have good matches and stay healthy too.

Impact on the Business: How you are remember? From Legend to Jobber, It is that simple.

These categories will be judged from 1 being the worse and 10 being the best!

Now let's get to it!

INA: To say Raven only had one sytle would be somewhat correct. He wreslted a harcord-ish style. Although he could be a decent techinal wrestler, but his character did not call for that. Raven could carry a match pretty well but was by no means among the elite. The moves he did perform were done very well espcially the DDT. I have seen alot of Raven matches mostly all were good, some might have great. I am going with 8!

Charisma: Raven had it, no doubt about it. But he had/has a cool/dark type of charisma. A natural heel, and a not so good face. Even as a face, he's more of a tweener. As heel almost like a cult leader type heel. Everywhere except WWE he had some kind of stable or group. Another 8!

Mic Skills: I have always felt that Raven on the mic is among the best. He could take that pain and angst of his character and put it arcoss into great promos and interviews. He gets a 9 from me!

Durability: Raven really never suffered any major injuries. Whethet it was ECW, TNA, WCW or WWE. Very dependable and he also kept it intresting. Still, just because he never suffered a major injury, his match work rate was, okay? 7.

Imapct on the Business: Raven had his runs and ECW and carried their World Championship very well. He was the man in ECW in 95-96. He also was big player in WCW. WWF not so much! The early days of TNA he helped get them on the map. Three time Champ: 2 Time ECW champ and 1 time NWA champ. He is not retired as of now, but he place in any wrestling HOF should be secure! He gets a 8.5.

Recap:

INA: 8
Charisma: 8
Mic Skills: 9
Durability: 7
IOTB: 8.5

Overall that's 40.5 out of 50!

Do u argee or disagree with these ratings? Comment below. And thank you for viewing this and be on the look out for the next one!

Overall I'd agree with you.
IRA: he never got too technical or high flying after bulking up from his Scotty Flamingo weight but he would still throw a plauncha out every once in a while. of course his DDT delivery is up among the best.

Charisma: almost every company you work for isn't gonna hand you a stable if you dont have some charisma and Raven had followers nearly 100% of his time in ECW and WCW and for a good bit of time in TNA.

Mic Skills: again, you wont have followers if you cant make them believe in you. there were certainly times when his rants would get repetitive or go off on some random tangent but there were others that were some of the best vignettes ive ever seen.

Durability: considering he spent most of his time in the ring getting hit in the face with some sort of object or being thrown through tables, etc. and hardly ever missing time(aside from his thyroid problem) is impressive.

Impact: Raven has been one of my favorite wrestlers since ECW invaded Raw in 1997(which got me watching ECW). Unfortunately he has spent a lot of his time in smaller promotions or the backburner in larger ones. Yes he was the ECW champ and did great things for ECW but he left just as they were getting on tv and ppv. WCW didn't give him many memorable moments aside from giving Goldberg one of his first real challenges and his first title. WWE didn't know what to do with him(or pretty much anyone else who was hired after the WCW/ECW buyout). They let him stay on the big show for a bit and gave him the hardcore title like 23 times but who didnt win the hardcore title at that time? Then he lost to Dreamer and was stuck on HEAT forever. He again rises to world champ in TNA but again dropped the belt before TNA debuted on Spike. The Serotonin happened and he got sick and gained weight and now he's back in the indies.
That was a bit of rambling I admit but the point is, causal wrestling fans most likely will not remember Raven for being as great as he was because the best things we was allowed to do happened before those promotions were on the map.

as big as a Raven mark as I am, realistically I'd have to drop him down to probably 35 out of 50.
