Randy Orton to appear on Raw

FromTheSouth

You don't want it with me.
He's supposed to be injured still, but WWE.com is reporting that Randy Orton will be appearing on Raw to discuss the champions. Does this prove the injury is a work? Could WWE be putting him on just so he doesn't get cheered when he comes back?

I hope it means the wreck was faked. Raw needs a big time heel, and Orton is that guy. Several people think he is boring in the ring and on the mic, but I think he is effective at what he does. He makes people hate him, and that is what a heel is supposed to do.

If they actually report it on the site, I am getting doubts about the accident being a work. I mean, if they had actually done the entire motorcycle accident as a work, you'd think it'd lead to a surprise return. By announcing it on their site, they've ruined the chance of that happening, so my opinion of the accident being a work has shifted slightly.

Anyways, it'll be nice seeing RKO back on Raw. Even by just cutting a promo or assuming himself into the programming with a non-wrestling role, he can help the Raw product immensely.

Personally I can not wait until Randy Orton comes back, because I can see him putting on some great feuds, and really showing his heel status in the Raw roster, and will be good to see how Randy and the new GM works well together.

Maybe their chemistry could turn out to be the new verison of Stone Cold vs. Vince McMahon.....

Maybe not...

But it is hopeful wishing...

Hopefully his accident is a work, I am glad to see that he is returning to RAW at any rate he much like John Cena actually was really starting to win me over before he got injured.

Even if the injury isnt a work its a good idea having him show up to keep him fresh in the crowds minds I think, so they dont forget Randy Orton. Thats what I think anyway.

All this "it's a work" talk makes me miss the good ol' days of watching wrestling without the internet being involved and just thinking to yourself.. "Where'd what's-his-face go?" Then being shocked when he returned to say he's still going to be out another 5-6 monthes.

All in all, I'm sure the only reason Randy Orton is appearing on Raw is because.. for starters, isn't it in his hometown? I mean I could be very wrong there, and it isn't important anyways.. but if it is his hometown, why wouldn't you want him making an appearance?

If not, the fact is he still hasn't been seen since around April, right? So it's September, of course it's about time he makes an appearance just to keep up with making sure the fans still hold onto a hatred/love for him. I doubt he's going to suddenly jump C.M. Punk and take the title tonight, or Sunday at Unforgiven.

My guess is Orton won't be back until around Survivor Series, or the Royal Rumble. Tonight is likely just Orton telling everyone to "be on notice" that when he does return, he wants a shot at the title he'll proclaim his.

Yes, Raw is in St. Louis tonight so this makes sense. His last appearance was at the draft and he reminded everyone that he would be back and he wants his title back etc. Tonight will be more of the same. Maybe he takes some shots at Punk.

Tonight was further proof that Randy Orton should never be given any form of title ever again. When Orton doesn't have a belt, his promos are great, if not borderline brilliant. I enjoyed Randy Orton's appearance tonight. His problem is when he gets the belt, he becomes monotonous and boring....blahblahblahlegendkillerblahblahblahyoungestchampioneverblahblahblah. As soon as he gets a belt, he becomes incredibly predictable. When he doesn't have a belt, he is far more interesting. I love the tease of a faction of 2nd and 3rd generation wrestlers with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr, with Orton "mentoring" them. This could definitely work, and help establish DiBiase especially as a true talent. I could care less about Rhodes, he annoys me...but, DiBiase, being guided by Orton? That could be truly priceless. And its all because Orton doesn't have the belt. The WWE needs to realize Orton is far more valuable without the belt than he is with it. Tonight showcased that.

I think it would be an entertaining 'stable' but im really not sure Orton is a very good role model for these guys. He has alot of experience ,can teach them alot about promos and help them in ring, but haven't wwe been close to sacking him a few times for drugs and attitude?!

Rhodes and Dibiase are doing amasing as it is without Ortons help and I think they will go from stength to strength and this time next year will be at Ortons level now

I unfortunatly didn't get to see Orton on Raw tonight. However I've read all about it. From what I can tell he ripped off a damn good promo. I'm pissed as Hell that I missed it. Raw desperatly needs him back right now. Y2J is in a program with HBK, which really leaves CM Punk to face JBL and Kane over and over as far as heels go. Orton vs Punk could be interesting. The way WWE plays Orton when he is not the champ is amazing. They make him seem so sadistic, crazy, and flat out evil, which makes him my favorite heel on Raw right now. It's just a shame when they give him the title that he basically gets owned every time. However, should he win the title this time... HHH won't be there to take it, so upon his return, whenever it may be, I am certain that he'll be right back in the main event scene. Again. I wish that I was able to see him on Raw tonight.

I don't think that his return tonight was for good. I still think that he's going to be out for a while longer. If the accident was a work or if it was real, I still expect him to be out none the less whether it be for nursing injuries or being with family. I still expect him to be back for Survivor Series where he should I would think make a big impact. My guess as to why he was on Raw tonight is the same as Will's. Cause it's his hometown, and WWE wants to make sure that the fans don't forget about him and stop loving/hating him.

I loved how Orton did a slight swerve on playing being a face. He ran down all the Champions, which all but Punk were heels. That warranted a face reaction from the hometown crowds.

The only thing that ironically got him booed, was when Punk threw water in his face, dispite Orton not doing anything. I say ironic, because Punk doing that would've been similar to something a heel would've done... and Orton doing nothing, while Punk backs away and more or less "runs" is something a face would've done, while watching the heel backtrack.

The ONLY thing that made any sense was the hint of a possible faction regarding Wall Street. If nothing comes of that, then him talking to the Tag Team Champions and firing them up was for the most bit too random and pointless.

I'll hold out on whether his injury is real or not. If Orton doesn't return Sunday after the Scramble and R.K.O. Punk, then it's likely real and he's recovering. If Orton does return, then the motorcycle story was likely scripted to cover up Orton taking a slight bit longer than projected originally.

You are confusing Randy Orton the character with Randy Orton the man, and by most accounts, getting married and having a child has calmed Randy Orton the man down a lot. As far as Randy Orton the character goes, he is the biggest heel on Raw, even injured. Rhodes and DiBiase are young heels. In a few years, at least one of them (DiBiase, I think) is going to be a main eventer, if not World champion. Being allied with Randy Orton will help him get to that point sooner, in much the same way Orton and Batista being allied with Triple H and Ric Flair as Evolution instantly made them more credible as main eventers.

So the whole Orton and Dibiase/Rhodes group peaked my interest last night.
Now could be the time to add Joe Hennig into the mix to make it a group of 4. With his fathers DVD coming out next week what better way to hype it then have Hennig join the group claiming to be "beyond perfection". I was reading he was doing quite well in FCW. He sells just like his father.

That was easily one of Orton's best promos EVER. The way he cut into Beth Phoenix & Santino was laugh-out-loud funny, and dare I say it actually reminded me slightly of The Rock. Slapping Cody in the face backstage was a great touch, and then the look he gave them after they got their belts back from Cryme Tyme was perfectly ambiguous. I can't wait til he's back on Raw full time.

njperfection, I didn't even know that Joe Hennig was even close to being called up...I would LOVE to see another Hennig in the WWE, as long as he is ready. The more I think about it, the more excited I would get at the prospect of Randy Orton leading a generation based stable.

It was great seeing Randy on Raw..He's always entertaining to me..and that slap he gave Cody looked like it REALLY hurt, lol. Sometime down the road though, I do see maybe him and Team Priceless forming a new "Evolution" like stable (Even though in my honest opinion..No stable was better than Evolution in the past 8 years). I do think Orton has what it takes to lead a new stable--despite past mistakes with drugs, and his attitude, he's still a great guy in my eyes. I also can see him being involved at Unforgiven--Does anyone else see him maybe interfering in the Raw Championship Scramble match?..Just a thought after the angle they did with Punk and him at the end of Raw.

Randy Orton single-handedly (unless you count the hands of Chris Jericho and HBK) saved monday's Monday Night Raw. That was one of the best promos I've seen in a long while. It's great that they keep him in the spotlight, so that we don't forget that one man who can actually justify the existence of one mediocre episode of Raw. When he returns, he should be in the main event for life. There's just no downside to his actual work, but his personal issues is another...issue.
