PWG number one trend on twitter

Saturday December 1, Probably Wrestling Guerrilla hosted its Mystery Vortex event at an American Legion in Reseda, CA. The venue has a capacity of about 500 from what I've heard, there was no live broadcast whatsoever. However from about 9pm to 3am #PWG was the number one trend worldwide. Is that crazy or what? A small wrestling organization was the top trend on one of the largest social media sites on the planet. This a feat WWE manages to do and TNA rarely does. How does an event of this size manage to get so much exposure? I know one thing for sure I'll be making a trip to the L. A. area for the next event.

Was anyone here at the event? I'd love to see a write up.

You seem to have been misinformed. Pro Wrestling Guerrila was the top tailored trend last night, which means Twitter assigned the hashtag as a top trend, it didn't trend due to discussion. That being said for a small organization such as PWG, even being a tailored trend is pretty impressive. But if you want to know what was so special about last night, it was Joey Ryan's final match for the promotion so their were a lot of people within the wrestling community discussing it. Plus Kevin Steen defended the PWG World Heavyweight Championship against Adam Cole in the main event.

I wasn't there but as someone whose watched several PWG shows before I would recommend attending a show if you're in the Los Angeles area. It's the perfect blend of good wrestling and adult orientated comedy, mixed in with some good characters, whacky match names and stipulations plus some of the strangest event names you'll ever see; their main show being Kurt Russellmania.

You won't get a write-up until the DVD is released, but if you results and pictures the link above will provide them.

I stand corrected. How does something become a tailored trend? I'm still a new "tweety" as Dusty Rhodes would say.

I have no idea. From a quick search though what I've got is this:

Tailored Trends uses algorithms to tailor what the user sees based on their location and who they follow on twitter. The trends lists will be tailored by default for each user on twitter.com and on twitter mobile apps. People that don’t want to see the tailored Trends will need to change their location to twitter.com in their settings.

The new Trend tailoring feature doesn’t mean you can’t see what’s going on around the world. Twitter says that any time users want to look at conversations happening globally the user can select individual countries and cities to see the trends in those locations. Twitter will be rolling out the new Trends feature gradually with the rollout starting yesterday.

So basically, if you discuss wrestling on Twitter and follow wrestlers, PWG would indeed have been a tailored trend, whereas had you no discussion about wrestling or any wrestlers, PWG wouldn't have appeared as a tailored trend.
