Patience is a virtue.

Today's professional wrestling product is quite different than it has ever been before, in more ways than one. Not only has the rating changed, promotions have come and gone, new superstars have been created, and all kinds of different things. The big thing is the changes that the fans have gone through. Today's fans are just not as patient as they used to be. It may be a bi-product of the current course of professional wrestling or maybe just society in general, but one thing is for sure: They're definitely not as patient as they used to be.

I'll be looking through the threads on here and I see nothing but impatient people. "Why hasn't the mystery GM been revealed yet?" "Why haven't we figured out what the 'bigger picture' is for Nexus yet?" "Why hasn't HHH returned yet?" You get the point, nothing but impatience. It hasn't always been like this. People used to think that the longer the wait was the bigger the payout would be. Everything would be eagerly anticipated and there wouldn't be constant complaints from every direction. People wouldn't question every move that was made. For example, when Stone Cold Steve Austin was run over by a car, the fans would tune in every single week to watch the build up and to watch the storyline grow and progress. They watched Mick Foley try to solve the "mystery", they participated in all the speculation and then... BAM! After they had patiently waited, and the angle had properly developed, they found out who it was: Rikishi had run over Stone Cold Steve Austin for The Rock. It was a great thing to see. All the excitement had finally come to a head and it was totally worth the wait. At that time, although I was young, I don't think I remember anybody complaining, they were content with the wait.

All that being said, why aren't fans today the same way? Is it due to a lack of talent, is it that the fans are younger nowadays, or am I imagining things and is this not a problem? Honestly, when it boils down to it, I think it's all due to today's society. Everything is fast, there isn't anything we wait for anymore. We're used to getting everything right away, so that now, we just cannot wait anymore.

What do you guys think? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I am actually rather patient when it comes to this stuff. Granted, I'd love to see who the Mystery GM is, but I'm not eager to find out. I like the idea of surprise. Much like The Miz cashing in MITB. Lots of people were all "Why doesn't he cash it in now?" or "Hurry up and cash it in!", where I was "Yeah, he'll do it when he wants", which was why I was so surprised when he done it on Raw.

I like waiting for most things in the WWE, as the longer you wait, the more you enjoy it. You don't get much out of it if it happens immediately.

I'm not quite sure. Something tells me it could be the constant need for fans to keep the product moving. If something is build on for way too long then it slowly becomes stale in many cases. The RAW general manager thing has become stale because there's nothing feeding us anything of interest like catchphrases used to have us guessing "Who the hell are you!?!?" or a guy like Triple H who with his return could definitely cause a change in the card, considering Triple H would become a good part of RAW again where the product is slowly, not getting stale, but running out of possibilities for now. Sheamus has John Morrison to feud with, that's fine I guess, Wade Barrett is somewhat running in circles of feuding with Randy Orton / John Cena, which is still good but you get the point, and The Miz is probably the only spiced up thing to REALLY happen on RAW as of late that hasn't been anticipated or build on for a long period of time.

A triple H return in this case would spice that up. And due to that, the fans becomes impatient. It's all about keeping the product moving and not getting stuck in the middle of it all before restarting a cycle that definitely does not need to be restarted. With the revealings of stuff like the General Manager, or a returning addition etc. the product is bound to keep moving. And therefore, the fans becomes impatient of waiting for the product to keep moving.

At least that would be my only possible guess.
