Orton/Jericho sleeper RR favorites?

King Of The Ring
I could imagine as of right now Goldberg is the favorite to win the RR match. Only person I could see in a match with Kevin Owens that could close out WM 33.

However, I was thinking there's more money that can be made with Goldberg vs. Brock III so I doubt Goldberg wins. So that leaves Jericho and Orton, they've both haven't been champ for a while. The AJ/Y2J partnership didn't last as long as Y2J/Owens, I believe it may be a big payoff with this angle. Orton/Bray, they've been involved with each other for a while, Bray usually around this time is getting build up to put over somebody, it makes me wonder are they going to save the inevitable Bray vs. Orton for WM or would they have it soon like Royal Rumble then Orton goes on to compete for the WWE Championship at WM.

I don't think that Goldberg is going to win Royal Rumble. I guess that it's just a match where Goldberg's Wrestlemania 33 feud initiates with someone eliminating him out of Royal Rumble.

Plus, Y2J and Randy Orton shouldn't win Royal Rumble either.

For the inevitable Y2J Vs. KO feud, Y2J doesn't to win Royal Rumble. It could better be a main event for any PPV which isn't one of the Big 4.

Randy Orton could be a viable opponent for AJ Styles at Royal Rumble but I don't think that it's going to take place.

I don't know who would be a better optiom yet but I don't agree with the opinion that supports either of Goldberg, Y2J or Orton winning the Rumble.

Just a thought, but if say a Smackdown superstar wins, is he allowed to challenge the Raw champion?

They used to be able to pick any title to go after. Wouldn't Shane/DB try to convince who every it is to go for the other title and bring them both to Smackdown?

Probably won't happen as they won't have two titles on one show, but surely if it's a contest against one another, they would try and get as many belts as possible?

I think the 2 early favourites for the Rumble are John Cena and Finn Balor.

I see Taker headed towards a World title feud vs AJ Styles at the Rumble for one last hurrah and Cena could possibly win the Rumble to setup a huge Career vs Title match for Mania 33.

Finn Balor does have an automatic rematch for the Universal title, so he might not really need a Rumble victory. That said, him winning the Rumble on return would be a great way to continue the Rocket push started in the Summer. Also, there is money in Balor vs Reigns to be made, so I wouldn't be surprised if the latter was to fight KO in a title vs title match in the near future and carry the belt into Mania season.

My Early Fantasy card for WrestleMania 33 reads(thus far):

the Undertaker(World) vs John Cena

Roman Reigns(Universal) vs Finn Balor

Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar

Seth Rollins vs Triple H

Chris Jericho vs Kevin Owens

I see those 5 matches as possibilities for WrestleMania 33 at this point. Of course, some or even none of them might end up happening as there is still a long while for everything to take shape.

I buy either winning an Elimination Chambers match and then challenging Owens for his no mark title at Mania. I've felt Orton moves to Raw and faces Owens for a while now, I've only wavered because Jericho has caught on so much that plans might change.

Trying to think which scenario would be better. Do you have Brock decimate Goldberg and eliminate him at the Rumble (because I think we all know that eventually Goldberg will be standing in the ring alone after eliminating about 10 guys, and Brock's music will hit), leading to a feud at Mania? Or do you split them up to improve the card?

This Mania has the potential to be the strongest card in a long time. We can legitimately see HHH/Rollins, Taker/Cena, and Brock/Goldberg PLUS the title matches (assuming one of these guys doesn't win it before Mania), that's five main events folks. But we could also get something like HHH/Rollins, Taker/Cena, Brock/KO for the strap, and Goldberg/Reigns which would be equally as good. Perfect scenario for me would be the Brock/Goldberg rematch at whatever the PPV is before Mania and than split them up amongst the roster for Mania 33.

I'm just spitballing here though. Bunch of stuff could change in the next 4 months.

I really don't know what they have planned for Wrestlemania. Goldberg vs Lesnar shouldn't be for the title.

The rest of card could look like this:
Styles vs Orton
Cena vs Taker
Owens vs Y2J
HHH vs Rollins

But you also have to put Bray, Balor, Ambrose and Reigns in there somewhere.

I think if Goldberg vs Lesnar happens there, alongside HHH vs Rollins, Cena vs Taker won't be happening this year as well. Vince knows how to make money and putting all your big matches is not good for bussiness. Goldberg vs Lesnar and HHH vs Rollins, plus Cena and Taker in different matches have the ability to sell this year's Wrestlemania.

Cena vs Taker will probably happen at Wrestlemania 34. Of course this could change, if WM 33 is Taker's last.

For RAW I only really see Balor grabbing the W. I had Seth earlier in the year before the seed was planted with HHH but thats not happening anymore. Goldberg winning would be a travesty, would make it 4 years of the wrong person being shoved down our throats and as much as I like Goldberg the last thing he deserves is a Rumble win. Title win maybe, Rumble, no.

SDL seems to just have waaaaay better options and scenarios to play out too for World Title matches. We could possibly have:
Styles vs Cena
Taker vs Cena
Styles vs Orton

If somehow Styles dropped the strap he would be a GREAT option for the RR but much like Seth, the way his year has played out it seems unlikely he could be walking out the winner. Cena and Orton on the otherhand, have interesting scenarios while they may not have the most positive reactions to winning the Rumble. Orton coming off the Wyatt feud could be a great opponent for AJ, while Cena has could either face off and try to finally conquer AJ Styles and win his 16th or try and take the strap of the deadman who could potentially become champion at the RR against Styles.

With two titles and not many injuries, this year's Rumble is up for grabs. I don't see Goldberg winning it, and certainly hope that Reigns isn't main eventing Mania again.

Read somewhere a while ago that Jericho is going to be doing a Fozzy tour so does that mean he's leaving for awhile? In that case he wouldn't be winning anything. Would love to see Wyatt win it and finally get a shot at the belt. Other than that I have no idea.

I agree.

From me, there's big NO for either of Goldberg and Roman Reigns to win Royal Rumble 2017. Goldberg winning the Royal Rumble is illogical. And we all know why Roman Reigns shouldn't.

I don't think that Jericho will miss Royal Rumble at any expense. The tour you mentioned is scheduled to be in 2017 and I am sure that Jericho won't miss Royal Rumble for it.

Bray Wyatt winning could be good. I do think that he should turn face. Face Bray Wyatt Vs. Heel AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33 for the title could be good.

Jericho could be a sleeper winner - if only because they can throw Balor in the mix as well in the Road To Wrestlemania... perhaps giving us the obligatory Triple Threat main event Mania seems to have these days. Jericho is someone who could win the Rumble - pissing KO off upset him for the title at EC... only for Balor to return and demand HIS rematch at the same time as KO's. Jericho puts over Balor on the Mania stage and exits stage right with the handshake/pure face turn...and goes into the HOF having won the Rumble - He won't get MITB now, but the Rumble is something they can give him on his resume...

Orton? No... Bray would double crosshim and win ahead of him... I can see Bray winning and potentially ending up facing Orton for the title at Mania and getting his "big win" at Mania at last.

Out of leftfield winner could still be... Kurt Angle

As big as Goldberg returning is - we know Brock is gonna take him out... that frees up the "return" story for someone else... I'd rather not Shawn, although Shawn v Styles for the belt would be good, it's messy on the same night as Taker's last match... Angle could return at number 25 or so in a shock, benefit from Brock and Goldberg taking each other out at the end and getting a fairytale return to Wrestlemania...

Angle vs Styles has been seen in TNA, but it would be a "new" match for WWE fans and one that was always good to watch.
