NxT Season 1 Never Aired

Good Evening fellow WWE Fans,

What did the first season of Nxt season 1 give us?

We had:

Wade Barrett
- The Winner of Season 1
- Leader of the Nexus
- Former IC Champion

Daniel Bryan
- Former US Champion
- Former Tag Champion
- Former Worlds Champion
- Former WWE Champion

Heath Slater/ Justin Gabriel/ David Otunga
- Former Tag Champions

Darren Young
- Hasnt done much, tag teaming it around.

Skip Sheffield
- Repackaged as Ryback

Michael Tarver
- Released from WWE, Wrestling in Japan

What do you think WWE would look like today without the "Reality Competition" of Nxt and it being as it is now, the internationally aired developmental system.

Would Barrett, Bryan and Ryback be in the positions they are now? I dont think so, I think they would have been packaged badly and been lost in the shuffle.

Thoughts?

The first that comes to mind who truly suffers if NXT Season 1 never aired is Wade Barrett. Without NXT Season 1 there is no reason for Nexus to make their initial attack. There is no way that WWE would have had all 8 wrestlers debut at the same time without any type of television exposure first. NXT's competition format gave us an idea of what they would be like in an onscreen role. It also provided the storyline reason for Nexus to form in the first place. Tarver would still have sucked without Nexus, same goes for Young. Sheffield would still have been able to debut as Ryback later on. The rest of NXT Season 1's members might have suffered without NXT Season 1. Some more than others.

Slater and Gabriel might still have won the Tag Team Championship without Nexus, even though they might have seemed like less of a threat to the titles had it not been for their time in Nexus and The Corre, neither of which would have existed without NXT Season 1. Otunga would not have held the Tag Team Championship with Cena, and quite possibly not with Axel (then known as Michael McGillicutty). Wade Barrett would have suffered the most out of all. He had an excellent debut, all due to winning NXT Season 1. Without this how would he have debuted? Under the fight club gimmick that went nowhere? He might have gotten lost in the shuffle and despite his long string of bad luck, at least from winning NXT Season 1 he has received multiple opportunities he otherwise would not have had.
