Non-Wrestling Segments Keep On Getting Better

I'd really love to know who it is that's been doing the writing for these segments lately. Jericho's segments with the legends have been great, and keep getting better. The Triple H/Randy Orton segments have added a lot to their feud leading to 'Mania. The drama between Vickie, Edge, Big Show, and John Cena has all also been quality material. I've really been impressed with the level of these segments.

Not only are they well written, but they're executed well, and aren't taking away from the rest of the show.

All of those I listed though, pale in comparison to the HBK/'Taker segment from tonight. Undertaker stumbled over a few words, but it didn't change the effect of the segment. Both wrestlers had great parts, and it made me anticipate the match-up just that much more. Shawn didn't back down, and showed no fear. Undertaker's promo was just like all of the other great promos we've seen him do over the years.

The segments were all brilliant I agree. In my opinion that is what RAW should be all about. Tonight was perfect, lots of promos and segments that really get your interest, with only a few bits of actual wrestling. The wrestling should be held off until WrestleMania, as that is what you pay for.

The Taker/HBK segment was pure gold, even if Taker did cock up a little. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be the one who calls him on it backstage mind. It really has upped my interest in that match.

With the Taker/HBK one and the HHH/Orton one being so damn good, the Cena/Edge/Show/Vickie segment may be overlooked cos it was outstanding. How people say Cena has no mic skills baffles me, and Edge was his usual brilliant self.

Bottom line, if every episode of Raw and Smackdown from now until Mania have promos and segments half as good as todays, ratings will go through the roof.

I agree completely. I was amazed by tonight's raw. Its the best episode i have seen in a while. Trips and Orton reminded me of the old attitude era. I hope they get done with the whole "PG" shit. I want to see some blood! I hope these changes continue even after wrestlemania. I would love to see The undertakers gimmick change. I loved the old ministry gimmick. I hated the biker badass. I think trips should turn Face. Team with Orton after the mania and go against the Mcmahons with Stef. Shawn Michaels will hopefully retire, as he is boring. How bout a feud with Edge and Jeff? I dont think that it has been used enough. Bring Matt and Christian into the picture and you have potential of something special. Maybe a real storyline with Kane, that last more than two weeks. CM punk should move back to ECW and feud with Swagger. How bout Vickie leaves the company. She is pathetic. Edge should turn Face. He could pull it off easily. I probably should have made my own post here, but hell, who cares? Anyone agree with me on anything?

I have to agree, WWE put on the best raw we've seen in a while...

while we all saw the video coming from john cena, he threw us off a little, i know 80+% of us thought he was going heel when he said i love you to vicki, and the left, i thought i was all wrong about the video, and then history repeated itself as we all knew it would, same old video story saved by John and Edge mic/acting skills.

2nd surprise of the night
when we all saw randy orton at home i bet we all said "here comes a sneak attack by orton in the handi-cap match." I know i did, we seen it so many times. And then WWE tossed us a curveball, having HHH show up at Randys house. Didn't everyone think Randys wife was gonna get the pedigree?

all in all this was a great raw, somthing we have needed for a long time. suprise title change, 2 great surprises and a great way to end the show. keep up the good work Freddie prinze haha lol

I love tonights Raw it had that attitude era which i miss.....i mean the orton/hhh segment has being going great.....now the edge, big show, cena one actually seems good....it had me in tears of laughter....but everyone can see edge turning face now....jericho has bein amazing wit the legends segment....and undertaker and michaels man was intense and just makes me want to see there match......and any one who say shawn is boring....watch the mania matches he has.....watch his funny stuff in dx....yea he is bland now days but not boring. Only thing they need now is well kinda hype the mitb match a lil?

HBK and Undertaker's promo to kick off Raw was purely awesome.
They are really building well HBK v. Taker, Orton v. HHH, Edge v. Cena v. Big Show.
throw in MITB, the Hardyz (assumable), and Y2J v. somebody, this should be a great mania.

Ya man i know what your sayin i hate cena and couldnt give a shit about him tho, but hhh/orton was gold. jericho is a master still to this day he could put anything and anyone over. jbls title win was fresh and new but personally im a punk fan so i was a little pissed, jbl will get old and stale in my eyes really fast. hbk and undertaker is a sure sell and some compelling stuff im pumped to see the putcome.....(OBVIOUSLY TAKER GOING OVER)

I skipped over Orton's speech. Fast forwarded past it just like I did with everything that was a recap, a rewind, a commercial, etc. That actually allowed me to watch the new "actual Raw show" segments in about 45 minutes worth of time, as opposed to 2 hours.

The Undertaker/HBK promo was pretty good, outside of Taker screwing up a few lines ("at wrestle twe...wrestlemania twenty-five" lol). The matches tonight were nothing to be proud of at all. Can't say anything about Orton's promo because like I said, I just skipped it. I figured we'd be seeing it tomorrow on ECW, Friday on Smackdown, and next week on Raw at least another 4 or 5 times anyway. I did watch the HHH/Orton segment, but I thought it was ATROCIOUS until it got to the actual fighting. HHH is just a horrible, horrible actor, and WWE has never been good at filming backstage things to look like they aren't staged. Switching between camera angles with the cameraman walking in FRONT of Triple H looked stupid, as did the crappy acting from the oh-so-conveniently placed extras. Just horrid. When the fighting started though, THAT part was fun to watch.

Can't really say anything about Jericho tonight, as his segment was nothing really. The little promo he cut with Grisham was the same old stuff we hear from 10 wrestlers every single episode, so that's nothing to bust a nut over. Bump in the road in comparison to the fantastic stuff he's been doing lately.

I didn't actually see the Orton/Triple H stuff from tonight. From what I read, it sounded a little over the top, but it still works well for the feud they're building.

As far as Jericho; He's had some epic segments over recent weeks. He's bound to have a bad one very now and then. He's still doing a great job at building up whatever his 'Mania match will be, and he's getting about as much heat as he did against HBK last year.

The wrestling this week was a little down, that's why I made sure to make the thread about non-wrestling segments

and i agree that whoever is writing the storylines lately, NICE WORK!
i loved the HBK/Undertaker, Randy Orton/Triple H, John Cena/Edge/Big Show segments!

and Y2J's story is amazing!!!! he really knows how to put on a show!
(i love how the raw and smackdown champs and challengers are appearing on both shows)

Absolutely correct. I would date this improvement all the way back to pre-Rumble with Vince's return, just now it's going on with a good 5-6 storylines. I'm just hoping this improvement, while obviously won't be carried to the same extent, will carry on past the road to WM25. I don't want to see all these great episodes to only go back to those crappy November episodes.

But as of this moment, I'm thoroughly impressed with the last few episodes, which have all been great.

i think that the orton HHH segments are epic, with the segment in ortons house as a real throwback to the attitude era.

taker hbk was brilliant as hbk didnt back down, and it worked well, despite taker bumbling a few words.

now, thats where i disagree with most of the posts in this forum. i think the cena/edge/show segment was poor. all i can say is im glad cena was joking about loving vicky guerro, because that would have been unneccessarily dull. but as for the cena v edge v show match at mania? is anyone actually looking forward to this? summerslam or survivor series etc would be acceptable, even an average mania, but WM 25! deserves better than this. edge v cena has been done, show has never been a top top star in the wwe despite being in the main event, and so this match just seems a little dissapointing.

p.s. i kno ortov v hhh has been done, but their fued at the moment involving the mcmahons is awesome

You guys are crazy- The hhh and Orton segement was predictable, poorly acted, and way over the top. There was no sense of reality. It was absurd! how can it makeyou want to see the match. I had to switch off my tv about half way through the segment.

oh i forgot to mention jericho's segments. they are second only to hhh v orton, the only thing im worried about is that the legend he faces will be weak or old or both. hogan or austin would be awesome for drawing, hogan wouldnt be great in terms of the actual match. jerry lawler would neither put on a good match or draw.

possibly flair could face jericho, but he had that huge retirement last year, and for him to come out of it a year later may not work.

we shall see

I wish they had really left cena in love with vickie, haveing big show cena and edge, fighting for the world heavy weight championship, and vickies love. I cant stand cena, but he really had me going in the beginning of that segment, the audience was in shock, and I sware I was enjoying Cena for a couple of minutes, untill he walked back up the ramp, and vamped up his annoying meter, then it just became a typical cena promo, were all i wanted to do was bury my face in embarrassment.

WWE its not too late to have cena actually fall in love with vickie!! its what Cena needs!! I sware it will shoot ratings through the roof, people will just want to see what the fuck is going to happen, with such an off and wall angle. Make it happen Vince.

absolutely amazing! every segemnt Cenas was funny but i also was hopin he was in love with vicky so he could be heel. and it sucks that edge is turning fce because hes one of my favs and i only cheer for heels screw faces unless you taker and HBK

I may be alone, but I can't stand the non-wrestling segments. They're too long and frequent. I really couldn't care less if the big show is having an affair with Vicky, or if Jehrico hates old wrestlers. I watch Raw and SD to see wrestling, not an overdramatic theatric storyline. That's the problem with wrestling today: there isn't enough focus on the wrestling. Also, they should do more with the divas. They only get about 8 minutes a night.
