This topic is for discussion about the No More Heroes videogame series.

Wikipedia said:
No More Heroes is an action video game for the Wii video game system. It was directed by Goichi Suda (known in Japan by the nickname Suda51), developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Marvelous Entertainment Inc., Spike, Ubisoft and Rising Star Games. Previously titled Heroes, Suda51 has said that No More Heroes focuses on social issues. A sequel, No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle, is planned for 2010.

I bloody love this game to bits. I have never played anything quite like it. It's violent, hilarious, and just plain fun. The characters are great, too. It's a shame it didn't sell more but I am so happy they're making a sequel. It's supposed to feature an upwards of fifty boss fights. Insane.

Anyone else played this/pumped for the sequel?

No More heroes was a mighty fine game. Just look at the poster;

Here's travis, one hand on a boob and the other holding something that looks like a lightsaber! Damn this was a game targeted to those crying out for a hardcore game on the Wii, and we got it. I love this game, the saddest point was when there was no one left to kill.

The Spring release for the sequel will be pretty good, From the screenshots and previews I've read it looks to improve on the game, plus Sylvia is in it <3

It has Sylvia in it? Epic! I am even more excited for it. And I didn't realize it was going to be released so soon.

If the 50 bosses in the sequel are half as interesting as the last game, and the combat is still a blast, the sequel should be a topnotch game and a must-have for mature Wii owners. I just hope it retains the same twisted sense of humor. I laughed so hard and cringed at Destroyman's death scene. Let's get some more of that in there.

OK, bumping this topic because No More Heroes 2 is awesome. When I finish it, I'll post a full review in the reviews thread, but here are some early impressions:

The graphics are much nicer than the previous installment. They're sharper, smoother, and just nice-looking. However, the framerate dips a lot in the game. Somehow, it actually works, like a pseudo-dramatic slowmo effect.

The boring town-crossing sequences are removed, replaced with a slick menu that gets you instantly from point A to point B. The side missions are really fun, replaced with 2D game throwbacks. Tons of fun.

It's just as much fun reigning vengeance on enemies in this one as it was in the first one. New characters, new katanas, new moves, it's all there to make asskicking that much better.

The new characters are awesome and memorable. Maybe not quite as memorable as the previous game's bosses, but still unique and fun. Nathan Copeland and Million Gunman are probably my favorites so far.

The story is quite a bit darker than the original. Travis is a lot less goofy, and more mature. He's still a crazed otaku, though.

Many stages have some great atmosphere, in particular the Matt Helms and Ryuji fights. I'm amazed and how powerful the emotion in those fights was because of the scenery. Very memorable fights await you.

All in all, it's definitely worth a buy. Unless something happens in the next two fights that makes me swear off Suda51 forever, I don't see my recommendation changing. Perfect for those clamoring for a mature Wii game. And you don't even need to play the original to enjoy this. It helps, but not necessary.

Who else has played it? Who are your favorite characters and fights?
