No Mercy 2003
Date: October 19, 2003
Location: 1st Mariner Arena, Baltimore, Maryland
Attendance: 8,500
Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz

We’re finally back to WWE PPVs here with three more No Mercy’s. This is a smackdown show with the main event being a Biker Chain match with Brock defending against Taker. Also on the card is Vince vs. Stephanie where Stephanie is fighting for control of the brand. This is the culmination of a VERY badly received feud between these two where they wouldn’t get off of the show no matter how much people said they were sick of Vince vs. Steph. Let’s get to it.

I haven't watched this pay per view since October of 2003, and I'm pretty sure it didn't age well. One of the worst pay per views ever put out by the WWE.

That Brock/Taker feud does not hold up well at all. Especially with the hissyfit Taker threw when they tried to have Brock beat him clean in their first PPV title match.

Already, there was a noticeable step-down in intensity. The first time they feuded in 2002, it was far more believable, getting Taker's ex wife involved, allowing the involvement of Hell in a Cell to be warrented. The second time around, there was no reason for them to feud. And the stipulation of the biker's chain was rubbish. The number of snacks at that weeks creative meeting must of been rather low. Undertaker was riding a bike so they thought yes, we must have something related to bikes involved in the stipulation to give this any form of reason to happen.

Vince/Steph was always going to be uncomfortable, and when you hear years after that this match took place mere days before Steph's wedding, you have to question Vince's judgement to give the all clear for this match. Neither can wrestle very well (if at all), so add in a no-holds bared stipulation, shit's gonna go wrong. Thankfully hardly anything happened in this pointless match.

Cena/Angle was brilliant though, a true show-saver. At that point this was Cena's best ever match.
