No Ascension For The Ascension

Unfortunately, it looks like one of WWE's most promising tag teams is finished before they had a chance to make it to the main roster. Since the successful debut of The Shield, there was talk of soon bringing up more names from NXT to the main roster, with The Ascension being among the most talked about.

However, that's not going to happen how as WWE has released Kenneth Cameron, real name Thomas Latimer. Latimer was released by WWE following his arrest on November 22 for disorderly intoxication and battery of a law enforcement officer. So basically, Latimer got drunk off his ass and thought it'd be fun to get into an altercation with a police officer.

The Ascension was a team that had a lot of promise and were a lot of fun to watch. But if this guy really did get drunk and attacked a cop, then I can't really blame WWE for letting him go.

Yea, I was looking forward to them debuting and maybe making some noise in the tag division. They could delay it, and possibly just replace him in Ascension with another talent in NXT, build the team up again for a few months, and build that commoraderie between tag partners before they move to the main roster, but that will depend on what creative comes up with.

Well, that sucks. I was looking foward to seeing The Ascension being brought up to the main roster. They had something really unique going, and the tag team division really could've benifited, more than it has in recent months, with those two together. However, if he did indeed to screw up in such a royal fashion, than I can't blame the WWE.

Still, I was looking foward to seeing The Ascension in the tag team title hunt.

I have no sympathy for people that do stupid things when they have all their dreams right in front of them. It is impossibly hard to work your way up to even getting on NXT or FCW, let alone being a prospect to be called up to the main roster. And soon, no less. If you're not responsible enough to take that seriously, you have no right to be a pro wrestler working for the WWE.

People make mistakes, yes. And it may seem heartless of me to kick a man while he's down, but I get pissed off at people who have huge, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities sitting in front of them, and then piss them away. If you can't control yourself, don't get wasted. Chris Jericho used to go out every single night with the guys and get smashed, and raise hell all around town. But he'd still get up 2 hours later, get on that tour buss, and put on 5-star matches. Because he knew his limits, and he knew what he was capable of. I suppose it's a good thing this happened now, and saved WWE from some serious bad publicity later on down the road.

I am disappointed. I had high hopes for them to carry the tag team division after WrestleMania. Mysterio and Sin Cara, and well as Team Hell No can't last a whole lot longer. Mania or right around that time has to be their expiration date. I was really looking forward to Ascension being the guys to step up and rock it out in the tag division.

Agreed. Not only do you have to have talent, timing, psychology, and look, but you also have to have maturity to make it to the WWE. You need to be mature enough not to go out and do something stupid that could make you or the company look bad. If you're don't have that and simply take your job for granted, than you don't deserve to be there. Eddie Guerrero was fired from WWE at one point because he got drunk and crashed his car. Luckily, he cleaned up his act, got a second chance and went on to have an amazing career.

As far as Cameron is concerned, it's sucks for him to lose his job but I can't blame the WWE for firing him. I think if it was just disordelry intoxication, than he would've just gotten a slap on the wrist with a fine or suspension. Bo Dallas and Alex Riley have been arrested for doing pretty much the same thing and they're still employed. But by hitting a law enforcement officer, that was the kicker.

It's a long, hard road for many wrestlers to get to the WWE. Some spend their entire careers just hoping for that one break. For a majority of them, it never comes. Cameron had a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and he blew it. But perhaps he'll get a second chance one day.

In all honesty, I don't particularly care, because I could care less about NXT, so I wasn't that hyped about them anyways.

But, it's better that something like this happen now, instead of after they make it to the main roster and become big stars (if they were as good as people say). That would have screwed not only this toolbag, but the WWE too, in a high profile manner.

As good as they were together, it actually is a gimmic that you can slide almost anyone into. The only negative is that it will take longer for them to make the main roster. The next NXT taping is Thursday, we should have an idea of where they are headed then.

Hopefully they find someone to replace Cameron and team with O'Brien because I loved the Acsension and O'Brien nor the gimmick should suffer because Cameron is a screw up. Maybe put Rick Victor or Judas Devlin with him. Hell you could even do Conor O'Brien and Curt Hawkins...

While it's a pain in the arse that this has happened to a much hyped-up, much anticipated duo, it is the gimmick after all that has got us fans excited over The Ascension. To be frank, out of the two Connor O'Brian is the better talent and has a better look (though as a Brit it's treason to say it).

I hope that O'Brian can be paired up with someone else from the FCW/NXT roster and that The Ascension continues. I see no reason why it shouldn't; after all, the stable began with Ricardo Rodriguez and Epico as members too. I reckon Rick Victor has the right look to fit in with the gimmick. Here's to The Ascension V.3.

Sucks for Kenneth to lose his job but when u act stupid u get punished simple as that. Now as for the time how about replacing Cameron with Cory Graves then expanding to add in Hawkins, Leo Kruger, and Judas Devlin. Graves is most likely the next NXT champion so surrounding him with a powerful stable would do wonders for him. Hawkins has a ton of talent and is a good tag team worker so he and O'Brien could work well together then add in Devlin and Kruger for added muscle and u got a group who could take over NXT while waiting on their respective call ups to the main roster

Yes, I agree that he should have been fired even though I sort of know they guy. He's my best friend at University's friend from where he originally lives brother so he promised me to introduce him to me which is a bit shit now.

However, people calling him a "toolbag" because of what he did, have any of you never done anything stupid when you're drunk? I know when I was 16 I woke up in a police cell because of being drunk and disorderly, drink can change a person and can lead them to do stupid things, this might be a case of that. Also, with things like this it doesn't say what he actually did to the the police officer, it could have been a little nudge or something and it's still battery.

Whilst I wasn't sure about the whole 'Ascension' gimmick, I was sure that I wanted to see Connor O'Brian get called up FINALLY, since he's earned his spot royally in my opinion. As far as Cameron goes, he fucked up and he's paying the price. Most wrestlers would now just give up and never be seen in a WWE ring again, but if he REALLY wanted to, I'm sure he could claw his way back in, just like Eddie.

As it comes to their push, I don't think Connor should be penalised for something that Kenneth did, have him come up in singles competition using the 'Ascension' gimmick, or maybe do that, give him a few single bouts, then have him debut a new partner to feud with a tag team. There's so much they can do with this guy, I'm just asking them not to pass Cameron's mistakes onto him.

Serious bummer that we'll never see Ascension on the main roster, but it's not a huge loss. For starters, guys don't usually adhere to the characters they played in developmental on the main roster, since they have less room to try things out. So, they may never have reached the levels we expected of them, though they were really good down in developmental. Secondly, Kenneth Cameron fucked up really bad this time around and I don't blame WWE for cutting ties with him. If you willingly squander the opportunity of a lifetime, the chance to work in the WWE, then it's really your own fault. As much as I liked Ascension, I can't justify keeping Cameron around.

Let's be honest, though, developmental guys drift in and out of the WWE on a regular basis. Ascension was a cool concept, but it's not as if it's the only thing worth watching in developmental. And, who knows, maybe I'm wrong, maybe they try to salvage Ascension with someone else alongside Connor O'Brian. Regardless, guys like Kenneth Cameron are a dime a dozen, I highly doubt anybody will be up in arms about a developmental talent getting the axe after getting arrested.

How can you be this stupid? The gimmick was kinda awkward but cool and would probably got pushed to the main roster. But hey lets go out and beat a police officer. Classy.

Well that was irresponsible. I've heard so much about this group that I was looking forward to their debut. I do hope that they replace Cameron with someone and still go ahead with this group. May take some time but Tag team scene could really benefit from this team.

People make mistakes and most people deserve second chances, so hopefully he gets another down the road, but I can't blame the WWE brass for this one.

I am disappointed though. Most of the time that the boards get hyped for certain guys I don't pay much attention, but being the sucker I am for tag team wrestling I checked them out and liked what I saw. The tag division has gotten a shot in the arm in the last few months, and while it isn't in a golden age it isn't doing that badly, and a team like Ascension could have helped even more.

Cameron really screwed up. I remember reading like a week or two ago that the Ascension were next in line to get called up. I love dark gimmicks. I was interested to see if they could get over once they got called up. Their entrance would of got them a lot of attention. Their entrance kind of reminds me a little bit of Edge's entrance.

I think they will find O'Brian a new partner and continue with the gimmick.
