Nexus return angle

Occasional Pre-Show
Okay guys, so we all know the Nexus angle back from 2010/2011 ended up being somewhat of a mess, and basically the only 2 people who (questionably) have had somewhat of a career and meaningful position amongst the wrestlers are Ryback and Wade Barrett. So, my question to wrestlezone is: would a nexus reboot involving newer members- whilst at some point down the road also having Wade Barrett re-join the group- work, and would you like to see the angle take place?
In a nutshell scenario of what I had in mind:
the night after Night of Champions you have 3-4 guys argue over wanting a title shot at Seth Rollins (assuming he goes over at NOC) in which later that night, a multi-man main event sees the winner go on to face Rollins at the next PPV. At some stage of the match, all members of the match are down when "we walk alone.." ques, and out comes roughly 5-6 guys at the top of the stage, with names like Samoa Joe, Blake and Murphy, Baron Corbin etc. who line-up staring down the confused members of the main event match. Kevin Owens, who was not considered for the main event No.1 contenders match, also walks out, dropping the idea that he is the captain of the nexus. They go on to destroy the match and so forth.

A New Nexus stable in WWE could you imagine? No the original Nexus at its best was the best lineup Nexus ever had and I don't think anything can duplicate that in all honesty

I don't think that would work, especially with Owens leading it. The guy's great, but he seems like he always should be by himself.

I think the only way any sort of Nexus return would work is if it was the original Nexus, but even that's a stretch. In the Wade Barrett thread, I pointed out how the only original Nexus members who are gone are Tarver and Gabriel, leaving Barrett, Otunga, Bryan, Ryback, Young, and Slater. Out of them, you can scratch Bryan off because he's not going to be a lackey and Ryback is having success as face. Even Young is having some success with Titus. Even looking at the New Nexus, Axel is the only one available, but I'd scratch him out. In other words, it isn't very likely to happen. Sure, you could replace old members with NXT stars to keep the same concept going, but that's definitely a hit or a gigantic miss.

If we were to see a new stable though, I'd prefer for it to be something based on the idea of the Balor Club, but that's a story for another day.

In closing, there shouldn't be a Nexus group led by Owens. If there was, I'd rather it have no association to Nexus.

I was a big fan of the Nexus and the ones I thought were going to succeed succeeded. (Except for Gabriel and Slater but that's more of wwe's fault for breaking them up.)
But no, no matter who wwe would put in the new (new) Nexus it would never be as good as the first.
The only original Nexus members I could see being used in the New Nexus would be Slater(being sent back to NXT like Ryder) or Barrett(using the Rookies to get back to the top/which is one of the lesser reasons the original Nexus didn't have much success because Nexus revolved around Barrett). Every other member has found their niche and has had success in their respective places. And looking at the NXT roster I really don't see 5-7 people there that could be put together that would work and out do the original.

If anything we should be talking about the potential in The Wyatt Family. (They came from NXT so do they count?) Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Eric Rowan, Staunman(?), and the reports of wwe wanting to add a female to the Wyatt family has so much potential IMO. Wyatt in the main event, Harper as mid-card/manager for the tag team of Rowan and Staunman, and sister Abigail as the female pulling the plugs.

Not like it's actually going to happen, but if they were to or wanted to do another Nexus style group, I think the ideal people for them to use would be Josh, ZZ, Tanner, Mada, Patrick, Alex, Hank, Amanda, Daria, Gabi, GiGi, Dianna, Chelsea and Sara. Speaking of which, it's inspired me to do a Be The Booker on this exact topic.

No, NXT superstars invading has been done before and a faction of guys from NXT has been done (Twice) its time for some new creative ideas and not just copying what happened in the past.

Also I am completely against any faction with more than 4 members, Shield and Wyatt Fam got it right 3 is perfect because it is not too many to the point where they need massive opposition to fight them but it is enough to look dominant

I think a group led by an uneasy alliance of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens would be incredible. An attempt to dethrone the old guard and establish a new one. Basically what the women are supposed to be doing except not terrible.

I'm not sure if the OP's idea is bringing back the Nexus or launching a new group of rookies that shake the foundation of WWE like Nexus did. The OP has the new faction come out to "we walk alone" but no one he's suggesting had anything to do with Nexus.

It'd be like John Cena and the Dudley Boys forming the nWo or Seth Rollins and Baron Corbin forming DX. Everyone would be Iike, huh? At least those stables have massive brand recognition.

If Nexus walks again, it must consist of members from the original and best incarnation. Barrett as Bad News putting his band back together could be quite interesting.

I'd book a returned Nexus to consist of Barrett, Ryback, Bryan, Slater, and Young. I'd add Titus to the mix as there's no reason to break up PTP. It would be interesting to see where it goes. Ryback and Bryan especially would be difficult to turn heel, so perhaps Nexus rides again as a baby face group.

But why would Nexus have such large numbers as faces? Heel makes the most sense. Perhaps take Ryback and Bryan out but you lose a lot of star power. Reuniting the Nexus establishes another group for the future reunited Shield to feud with.

The shelf life of a returned Nexus would be short unless it was reimagined as a smaller group. Perhaps another 3 man consisting of Barrett, Ryback, and Bryan. Imagine Nexus vs Shield or Nexus vs Wyatts. That would put butts in seats.

Now, if the OP's idea is for a new rookie group to rise, then they need their own name and their own theme. They need to be original. When Nexus rose from NXT, it was a "reality" TV show and the guys "weren't signed" to WWE. Now, NXT is its own brand, so where's the Nexus connection?

NXT then and NXT now only share a name, they have little in common. I'm all for Finn Balor to turn heel on Itami (as the true attacker, not KO) then lead a faction into WWE next year.

I'd book the new NXT faction to consist of Balor, Breeze, Corbin, and one other. I'd pick Samoa Joe first if his contract is for more than NXT. If Joe's contract is NXT only, I'd sub him out for Crews, or even Blake and Murphy. Less members is more, as too large of groups require too much so synergy from the roster. Think of how many ham fisted groups went up against the Shield?

An NXT group seems almost inevitable and could draw. Balor has too much charisma not to be a leader, but WWE doesn't usually retread other company's ideas. They may avoid Balor in a stable just to avoid Bullet Club comparisons.

A new Nexus is a bad idea unless it's a reunion of the old one. I'd be all for the original Nexus guys still in WWE to reunite and run roughshod, but a group of pretenders only begs the genuine article to reunite and beat them down, so why not just cut to the chase?

Hahaha no. Why would the new invaders call themselves "The Nexus" or use "We Are One" as their entrance theme, when they don't have anything to do, anything at all, with the Original or CM Punk Nexus? Secondly, guys like Samoa Joe or Baron Corbin should not make their main roster debut as part of a stable; they are excellent singles stars and should remain as such.
Also, stables typically produce one big star, while the others just fade away once the stable splits up. Also, with the New Day shining, the Dudley Boyz returning, and the Wyatt Family starting to gain momentum again, this wouldn't be a good time for a new stable to debut, for the above three teams require attention at this point.
At the end of the day, it will not do anything good for anyone, and has every possibility of ending in a catastrophe like the Original/New/Corre Nexus angle.

I don't think stables are always the answer, plus NXT has evolved into it's own brand now. A rehash of the Nexus stable would be a backwards step

Of course, with Barrett as King now, it wouldn't be a massive stretch to have his former lackies Otunga and Slater - and perhaps Axel - 'follow' him again; gives them something to do. Doesn't have to be called the Nexus, although that faction can of course be referenced.

The other former members are doing just fine as they are

If you did it with Barrett when he comes back to TV then yes its great.

Give him Ryback, Prime Time Players, and Kevin Owens.

I would personally only use it however to get Barrett or Owens over as a babyface and feud them to break up the group.

Nah. The Nexus was really fun while it lasted but everything runs its course. There shouldn't be a revival of The Nexus in any way, shape, or form.

The members you also have wouldn't really fit with the storylines. Baron and Joe pretty much hate each other now on NXT so why would they team up on the main roster? Not to mention Kevin Owens pissed off pretty much everyone on the NXT roster while he was there.

Owens should stay a solo act. His persona is someone who works best alone and would only really team with someone if it benefitted him.

Baron Corbin has gotten somewhat better lately but he still isn't main roster ready. Samoa Joe still hasn't gotten his shot at the NXT title. I can't see them moving him up without some kind of challenge to the championship. And Blake and Murphy, if you take Alexa Bliss away from them they are just another tag team with characters. They need to stay on NXT to form some kind of characters.
