NCAA Bowl Week 2010

I actually despise the NCAA, bunch of corrupt hipocrites if you ask me. Case this year, the Cam Newton situation sounded almost exactly the same as the Reggie Bush situation....in the fact that a family member took money. USC gets some harsh punishment, but Newton is never suspended, wins the heisman, and Auburn gets a spot in the National Title game with all this controversy surrounding them....yea makes plenty of sense.

On a lighter note, really looking forward to the Stanford/VT game

It DOES make plenty of sense.

They never proved that Newtons father ever took money. Newtons father tried to get money from Mississippi State for his son to play there. His son plays at Auburn, not Mississippi State.

They proved Bush's family got stuff. Hence the Bush penalties and Newtons no-penalties. Besides, Bush was in virtually the same situation as Newton, and Bush played in the National Championship game and won the Heisman.

I love the double standards here. They should penalize Newton without sufficient evidence, yet there was no problem letting Bush play.

Everyone don't worry. 5 years from now, after everyones gone and they figure out all of the sanctions, Auburn will receive the same treatment and get Newton's Heisman and (possible) National Championship taken away. :suspic:

Bush's FAMILY got stuff. They got a house and money was it not? But yet Newton's father was shopping his son to schools, yet that's not punishable. What that saying the NCAA uses? "The parent is the Athlete?" Newton is in the same situation Bush was in. On the verge of winning the heisman on his way to the National Championship. But it makes sense that it took the NCAA 5 years to find that Bush's family took something, and just like Megatron said in about 5 years time, we are going to turn on ESPN and see that Newton has to give his heisman back and blah blah blah. How do you think the NCAA would feel if the face of college football was found guilty of being pimped to other schools? It would absolutely kill the NCAA image, and that image is already pretty bad. So they did the only thing they could, say nothing happened and move on. But like it's been said in 5 years it will be a different story.

Newton's father was literally his son's pimp, trying to sell him to whoever would give the most how the hell is that not punishable. Does it also make sense that Auburn is the one who suspended Newton themselves. Why would they suspend him if he did nothing???? And the NCAA reinstated him?? The same NCAA that suspended AJ Green for selling HIS jersey, the same NCAA that suspended the Ohio St. players for selling THEIR own stuff, and suspended Dez Bryant last year for having lunch with Deion Sanders. If Dez Bryant can't have lunch with Deion Sanders, why should Newton's father be able to sell his son to schools? Yeah makes perfect sense.

No, what the NCAA is saying is that you are not allowed to ACCEPT stuff from agents or boosters or what-have-you. Bush's family got that shit (from I believe it was an Agent). There is no evidence thusfar that Newton or his family RECEIVED anything. That's why he isn't punished. You cannot punish people for things that are not proven.

Newton is in the same situation Bush was in. On the verge of winning the heisman on his way to the National Championship.
And Bush played, so why are you complaining? It is NOT a double standard, in fact, it's treating both situations fairly.

But it makes sense that it took the NCAA 5 years to find that Bush's family took something, and just like Megatron said in about 5 years time, we are going to turn on ESPN and see that Newton has to give his heisman back and blah blah blah.
If they prove that they actually RECEIVED something, you're right. But that's better then the alternative.
How do you think the NCAA would feel if the face of college football was found guilty of being pimped to other schools? It would absolutely kill the NCAA image, and that image is already pretty bad.
It would be better then them banning Newton/Auburn, Newton/Auburn filing a lawsuit, and the Supreme Court (where it would ultimately end up) proving that Newton didn't violate the rules (which is still possible).

So they did the only thing they could, say nothing happened and move on. But like it's been said in 5 years it will be a different story.
It MAY be a different story. There is no evidence so far. I don't know why people are acting like there is evidence, when there isn't any yet. It's pretty sad actually.

Newton's father was literally his son's pimp, trying to sell him to whoever would give the most how the hell is that not punishable.
Because the NCAA doesn't punish people for threatening violations. They punish people for actully violating.
Does it also make sense that Auburn is the one who suspended Newton themselves. Why would they suspend him if he did nothing???? And the NCAA reinstated him??
I never heard anything of the sorts. In fact, it was the opposite, the NCAA declared him ineligible until they realized they don't have evidence to do so.

1. The rules say you cannot sell memorabilia. Hence the suspensions. College athletes are not allowed to profit off of their abilities. That's the rules. They may suck, but rules are rules, and the players are well-informed of the rules. Violating them is warranting of a suspension, because you gotta be a fucking moron if you think you can get away with it.
2. They ruled that Deion was acting as representative of an agent, hence the suspension. Contact with agents or representatives there-in are worthy of suspensions. Not to mention the potential for improper benefits (they went to lunch, who paid? Was he given anything?) is immense.
3. For the umpteenth time, Cecil Newton (Cams father) has not been proven guilty of selling his son to Auburn (the only school that matters in this instance). Since nothing was exchanged, no penalty is administered.

So yeah I was right: Cowherd says that TCU winning means nothing after saying how Wisconsin would slaughter them.

Because he's better than Skip Bayless and whoever else is on First Take.
And?????????

Colin Cowherd is garbage, Skip Bayless is the same. Why watch either, especially when there are so many other options.

ESPN alone offers many different options.
Sportscenter
First Take not involving Skip Bayless
ESPNews (their best option).
ESPNU
Hell, even ESPNDeportes is better then Skip Cowherd, and I can't understand what they are saying.

Then of course there are all the non-ESPN options. You surely have iTunes, correct? Go to the radio section, then expand Sports Talk, and you'll see a wide variety of options, all of which are likely better then Colin Bayless (not hard to be better). Hell, if you have Sirius XM, there are even more options.

Arkansas better kick OSUs ass. I hate the SEC, but the Big 11 is the most overrated conference out there, and seeing them lose all their games would be magnificent.

What a crazy play, and OSU gets a lucky roll.

GREAT, GREAT, GREAT play by DJ Williams. And BAD, BAD, BAD tackling by THEE Ohio State University. The tackler probably didn't want to damage his jersey so he can sell it after the game...

This game will be tied again after the confirm the call via replay.

The Razorbacks got a nice comeback touchdown there. Tonight's going to be C.R.A.Z.Y!

Edit: O....k? Wasn't a touchdown? Please tell me the refs AREN'T going to be a big part of the game.

First the Ben Roethlisberger 'joke', now this one? Man you're on fire.

Maybe when you're done you can enjoy some Rex Ryan foot fetish videos. I bet you'd get a 'kick' out of them. see, i can make terrible jokes too.

I could honestly not care about this game, but since I picked OSU, go them.

Hey, the Roethlisberger joke was legit. And it was funny. This was also funny, and sadly very well may be true....

Maybe when you're done you can enjoy some Rex Ryan foot fetish videos. I bet you'd get a 'kick' out of them. see, i can make terrible jokes too.
That was a good joke too, even though you totally fucked it up (the videos were of Rex's wife, not Rex), and none of the jokes I made were attacking another person, like yours was. But at least what Rex and his wife did is legal, and not breaking any league rules.

Seriously, what crawled up your ass and died, man? You seem to be attacking me every chance you fucking get, and it's fucking pathetic.

Arkansas hasn't shown up in this first half. Too bad. Thankfully for them it's only a 21 point defecit. Oh, and in case you're wondering, I can't udnerstand how the guys who broke the rules can be suspended but allowed to play today.

OSU is putting a whopping on them Razorbacks. Pryor actually looks pretty good today.

EDIT: Ryan was heard in the videos, so same difference.

And calling Roethlisberger a rapist (which wasn't true) isn't an attack on someone? Well I'll be damned.

My ass is perfectly fine. You just have opinions that I severly disagree with.

Not a very exciting half. Arkansas better step this up otherwise Ohio State will run away with them.

EDIT: Ryan was heard in the videos, so same difference.
Not when you tell me to watch "Rex Ryan Foot Fetish Videos,", when no such thing exists.

And calling Roethlisberger a rapist (which wasn't true) isn't an attack on someone? Well I'll be damned.
OK, I don't attack people for no fucking reason, I simply make a joke about something that happened in the world of sports (The OSU scandal, The Ben Scandal)
My ass is perfectly fine. You just have opinions that I severly disagree with.
and so you disagree with something and mercilessly go after them, not just heir opinion? OK.

I disagree and say why. That's it. I don't 'go after you'. It just appears that way when you and I disagree on quite a lot of things.

And I'd consider Rex Ryan's videos with his wife something that has happened in the world of sports. It's something that got out there and leaked. No it's not a crime, but it's quite embarrassing for Ryan.

And, surprisingly, Arkansas defense just can't keep up with Pryor. When's the last time a top SEC team couldn't keep up with a top Big 10 team?

Arkansas needed that stop. No way they were coming back from 25.

Is it something that happened int he world of sports (hence why I gave you credit for the joke), yes, but that doesn't mean he was the star of the videos. He wasn't, his wife was. I was correcting that because there's a BIIIIIIIIG difference between "Rex Ryan Foot Fetish Videos" and "Rex Ryans Wife Foot Fetish Videos". The difference is gender, about 150 pounds, age, and attractiveness. Don't take it personal if I take offense at you saying I watch fat male foot fetish videos.

Well to be nitpicky, yes. You still understood what I was saying though, which was what I was trying to get at with that weak attempt.

And Arkansas has kept this as a game. The kicker might be the MVP of this game too if Arkansas wins...

That looked like Encroachment.

And Pryor got that to a measurement? Damn he's winning this game with his legs.
