NBA Finals 2017

Stephen A Smith picked the Warriors. He's been wrong since the Mavs/Heat finals. That's six straight finals picking the wrong team.

Cavs in 7.

Lebron may be the greatest player in the world but I just don't see how Cavs stop the Warriors scoring. JR Smith is either playing on Thompson, Durant or Curry. Irving has to play on either Thompson or Curry. Just way too many options for Goldenstte here. I do want a Cavs win but.

I gotta say I'm from Ohio so I've always been a big Cavs supporter...However, I just don't see them winning this year, I see Warriors taking it in 7 because they have "something to prove." TBH I'm beginning to think this is all is just as rigged as wrestling either that or it's just a big coincidence.

Cavs so afraid of the three ball from Curry and the snipers on Golden State that they just let Durant dunk all night long.

Durant played way better than LeBron tonight because Cleveland just so afraid of the three and gave KD the easiest shots possible for two. LeBron turning it over as he does sometimes on mass didn't help.

Only 2 assists from Kyrie meanwhile Curry had 10. 24 points to 28 points from the PG's and it was a real unnoticeable 24 from Kyrie. Both big guns for Golden State played much better than their Cleveland opposites.

It's so hard to know what to do against the warriors. Ideally you want to be giving them twos but that was more in past seasons. With Durant now, one of the best scorers ever, giving them shots closer to the bucket is just as dangerous. If Cavs can get one of the big 3 from the warriors in foul trouble, preferably Curry, then they should run ramped on them. It will give a chance for Cavs to match up for evenly on D and wear down the other two guys on the offensive end. If you gotta run Smith and Love pick and pops/rolls for a couple of plays in a row to just get that foul on Curry then I think that's the way to go. I just don't see how the Cavs win this without some advantage going their way.

Quite scary Thompson only scored 8 today

What are you gonna do against a team with this many scoring threats? I'm as big a LeBron fan there is on this forum, but even I have been saying since the beginning of this season that nobody is stopping this GS team.

I'm saying GS in 5, and it hurts to say it.

What team do you think LeBron will go play for after next season? My guesses in no particular order are Boston, San Antonio, Philly, GS, or maybe back to Miami.

Actually, he's been wrong since Detroit/LA in 2004. No one picked Detroit, but he was the dumbest and loudest about it. Lakers were down 3-1 and he was still convinced/hoping LA would show how much better they were.

Really no way to call this. It really depends on two factors. Will Golden State shoot the lights out every game? Can LeBron make those bums look like All-Stars? Whoever wins that competition wins this series.

I think it's more likely that he and uses his pull with the Cavs front office to make enough moves to make a 4 superstar lineup like the Warriors. I have no idea how they'll make the cap space, but Jimmy Butler seems like a fine replacement for JR Smith.

Within 3 years there will be 6 teams in the NBA: Cavs, Celtics, Rockets, Spurs, Warriors, and Clippers.

Lebron probably has 4 GREAT years left and maybe 2 more good years after that. By 38, I think he'll feel all these playoff games he's playing. So it'd make sense for them to find a 4th superstar.

As for the Finals, I always thought that if no one on the Cavs bench steps up, this will be a short series. But Lebron has showed time and again that he can do it all so I wouldn't sleep on him especially after that Finals when it was just him versus the entire Warriors team. But with the addition of KD, it's just so difficult to stop the Warriors. Even if you get one of their four all-stars in foul trouble, their bench can make up for it - Iguodala, Livingston, Clark, hell, even McGee is decent in this type of offense.

Gotta say that it'll probably be a close game the first two quarters in each game, then the second half determines the game. Warriors in 6, and that's being generous.

If I were Cleveland, I wouldn't worry about getting another star. I might trade Love for someone who plays in the post and actually defends.

What I really want to see out of Cleveland, now, is to fill the lane on defense. Make GS shoot. Yes, they're a great shooting team, but allowing them to get to the basket on top of having great shooters makes them almost unbeatable.

On offense, they need to milk the shot clock and get to the basket. Draw fouls. Oh, and less stupid shots from Irving, who is a great player, but takes a lot of idiotic shots.

LeBron is going to get the Cavs 2. The rest depends on whether or not Irving and Love along with the bench steps up to the challenge, but LeBron will get 2 by himself.

So, IMO, it's either going to be Warriors in 6 or Cavs in 7.

If Cleavleand get another star, which to be honest I can't even comprehend at the moment, I swear on my families life I will never watch the NBA again. There can't be serious thoughts about Lebron needing another star, I thought Lebron was the GOAT. We all get caught up in this well you need more help if you lose thought process that turns it into fantasy booking. Lebron, Irving and Love is enough.

What Big Nick said was what they need to probably do though. I'm not sure if Love is the one they have to trade or not, but you can't have Smith and Irving as your two lockdown guys when you want to give Lebron a rest. They need a defensive specialists, you can't out score the Warriors.

The Cavs have a really bad record without LeBron, aye? Like Irving really struggles to be the number one option.

Unlike Curry who stepped up big time when KD went down and Golden State won a bunch of games without their best player.

They do but Irving has had a very small sample size of being the man without Lebron compared to Currys last couple of years, especially since Irving was never in his prime before Lebron came. Still I was impressed with how Cirry played without Durant.

Thanks for agreeing, but I hate the idea of a "defensive specialist." Defense does not require talent or skill in basketball. It simply requires effort. If you're considered a poor defender, you're just too lazy to play defense. Every player in the NBA should be able to play good defense, some just don't want to.

At this point I'd really like to see perfection from Golden State. Two more wins for the perfect post-season run. Finish it off. Seems like a cool thing to see.

It's like last year when the Cavs tied it up 3-3. At that point it's a much better story for the Cavs to complete the impossible comeback. Now that Golden State have gone up 2-0 I reckon we should get to see perfection.

Game 2 was simple - GS made 18 threes while Cleveland only hit 8. GS shot 51% overall to Cleveland's 45%. GS seems to have too much firepower. Cleveland got to the basket, but just couldn't pile up enough points or go on one or two big runs while stopping GS. If Cleveland can figure this out, I have no idea what that entails.
