MMA in the Bar room!! *In memorium of JMT and TDigs' thread*

I'm pretty bummed about it. Jon Jones is a brother in Christ who has lost his way the more famous and rich he got. I think growing up a middle child, not being the same kind of athlete as his brothers, really caused an inferiority complex that he hasn't been able to shake off despite his success.

Think you hit the nail on the head. I don't think he's ever been able to find himself, to be confident in his own personality. Then, he gets all this money and fame, and for the first time, he's the center of attention and he doesn't know how to handle it. People misconstrue this as him being "fake" and root against him thinking it's so simple for him to just "turn heel."

I don't think Jones is fake, and I don't think he is inherently a bad person. He's made some shitty mistakes, this one being his largest and most serious. I just pray he uses this as motivation to better and find himself, rather than start a downward spiral.

One of the guys I train with, Jake Matthews is fighting on the next UFC card.

Keep an eye on him, only 20 years old and hasn't lost yet. Guy is scary to roll with.

Awesome, man. I will for sure do that.

Norcs I wonder whatever happened to Slim Pickns. I remember he left the forums when he started training MMA full time. Wouldn't that be awesome if he was Luke Rockhold or Chad Mendes and we had zero clue about it? :lmao:

I was about to lose my fucking mind during that Fight Night Main event. Some of the most absurd home town cooking refferring ive ever seen. Should have been a TKO in the fucking mid THIRD, let alone all the way into the fifth.

Jake got caught by a guillotine in the first today. Unfortunate, and he's pretty devastated, but already talking about coming to the gym today. Hopefully just a bump in the road!

Was a good card today, been enjoying MMA a lot more recently.

Yeah man, as much as I admire Hunt's heart and toughness, there comes a point in every fight where it's just like, okay, we know who the better fighter is at this point, there's no reason for this to continue. Sometimes a great chin and great heart can be really detrimental to a fighter's overall health and it's the ref AND the fighter's corner's job to know when to stop the fight so a fighter doesn't take any more damage than necessary. And both failed at that last night.

That was the biggest fluke win I've seen in a while and I think that eye poke had something to do with it. I'd love for them to rematch immediately.

Personally I agree, but it is what it is. I didn't get to talk to Jake for too long and while hes upset, from what he said I don't think he's looking at it as a fluke, just something to work on for him.

On a brighter note. Edgar vs Faber next week? I haven't been that excited for an MMA fight since Edgar fought Aldo.

SO!!!

I thoroughly enjoy when fights blatantly dont go the way UFC wants them to. Rogan and ol boy spend the entire night talking about how Cain Velasquez is basically the greatest human being to ever walk the earth, and he gets taken to fuckin SCHOOL by Werdum. Who will undoubetly get knocked the fuck out in his first defense :lmao:

The HW's are a fucking mess.

On to Fight Night, how sincerely intimidating does it have to be to face Joanna? No one who fights her comes out looking like anything other than the victim of a mugging. Twice in a row now, the refs have had to stop her fights out of mercy more than anything.

Bellator was LULZ. I hope they move away from what we saw in their ME. I hate to doubt the hard work of everyone involved in the show every show.

Rogan needs to shut his fucking yap. If you even bring the possibility of worked fights into people's minds, people are gonna look at YOUR fights sideways too. Its best for the sport to just keep your fucking mouth shut. Bellator 138 drew 2.1 million viewers.

Highly looking forward to Dos Anjos destroying Macgregor and him going away forever.....OR him justifying the hype, and being another awesome icon for the sport.

I presume you mean Aldo?

Yea yea my bad, Aldo.

Dos Anjos was the last guy who smashed the fuck out of an unworthy, over-hyped shit-talker. No wonder I get them mixed up.

She says she wants to be the "Rousey" of the strawweight division. She's selling herself short. Rousey is a great fighter, in my opinion, but comparing a submission artist to a striker is apples to oranges.

Throw in that she's a little quirky (what the hell was with the gift exchange?), and you have yourself the face of her division for a while to come.

Will she beat Silva's streak of defenses?? Should be interesting.

The reaction for McGregor in Dublin was fantastic during the press tour they did to promote the fight. Him winning and the UFC taking the rematch back there is the best thing that could happen.

EDIT: Brazil would also be a great place to have the rematch.

Very real possibility. No one has a chance against her, and obviously the more she trains MMA, and adds depth to her game, the better she will become

I especially enjoy the almost Iron Sheik level of incoherent post-fight promo

"Joanna, what did you do to prepare for Jessica's distinct takedown game?"

"WHO TAKE DIS BELT FROM ME? I DOMINATE FIGHT, WHO TAKE DIS FROM ME NO ONE! PRAISE JESUS!"

"Wait, wh....OK. Fuck it" :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: This, and her weigh-in staredowns. But mostly her interviews. She sounds like she's straight out of the cold war.

I'm really hoping Conor wins. I can't stand Aldo. I can't even pinpoint a reason. Him and Barao are two guys I just hate watching.

It's been a rough year for Machida. I'm surprised the ref didn't stop it after the first 3 elbows directly to his face...

So it's official.... instead of getting the most hyped fight the UFC has put out since maybe Tito vs. Chuck 1, if not ever, Jose Aldo is being replaced by the vanilla midget Chad "Mini" Mendes to face Conor McGregor @ UFC 189.

Jose Aldo is a piece of shit. All that hype, all that build up, all that investment... only for the guy to pull out 2 weeks before the fight with bruised ribs.

What's the point of getting excited over MMA fights anymore? Like seriously, hardly any of the announced fights these days come to fruition without a postponement or replacement fighter.

Now with the ridiculous drug testing and harsh punishments regarding that, it's only going to get worse (I'm almost certain this is the real reason Aldo pulled out). The sport is dying guys, and I'm not overreacting when I say that.

If MacGregor had beaten Aldo, Mendes might have been the next fight anyway. This really just makes it all ass backwards, especially if MacGregor ends up beating Aldo when he returns. I don't think Aldo is afraid of MacGregor, so I'm going to side with you, and say it has something to do with testing.

And while cards change routinely anymore, it hopefully won't ever be as bad, again, as that recent show where something like 3/4 of the card had to be replaced due to visa/passport issues...

Bellatooooooorrrrrrrrrr

If they can survive long enough without being exposed as a work.

Between the reebok deal and all the tom foolery in UFC, I think they have serious ability to make moves.

I don't think the sport is dying. I just think that the fighters aren't training their bodies properly.
