I'm pretty bummed about it. Jon Jones is a brother in Christ who has lost his way the more famous and rich he got. I think growing up a middle child, not being the same kind of athlete as his brothers, really caused an inferiority complex that he hasn't been able to shake off despite his success.
Think you hit the nail on the head. I don't think he's ever been able to find himself, to be confident in his own personality. Then, he gets all this money and fame, and for the first time, he's the center of attention and he doesn't know how to handle it. People misconstrue this as him being "fake" and root against him thinking it's so simple for him to just "turn heel."
I don't think Jones is fake, and I don't think he is inherently a bad person. He's made some shitty mistakes, this one being his largest and most serious. I just pray he uses this as motivation to better and find himself, rather than start a downward spiral.
