MLB Wild Card Races

Deadly Rap Cannibal
Every division in baseball is nearly locked up but the Wild Cards are still up for grabs in both leagues. So who ya got getting the Wild Cards?

AL- Right now the Red Sox are in the lead but they have been playing awful recently. They are 3-7 in their last 10 and went from possibly having the best record in the AL a little over a month ago to maybe not making the playoffs. The Rays and Angels are both 2.5 back. Tampa was right on the Sox heels but they have now lost 3 in a row and the Angels are the hottest of the three teams. LA also has the easiest schedule of the three teams. When it's all said and done I still think the Red Sox are going to get the job done. It will be close but I see them slightly edging Tampa and the Angels.

NL- The Braves are currently in the lead but like the Red Sox in the AL, they just aren't playing good baseball. They are 7-13 in their last 20 games and have blown a sizeable lead in the wild card. The Cardinals are right on their heels at just 1.5 games back, however, as I type this they just blew a 3 run lead in the 9th against the Mets and are likely to be 2 games back in a few minutes. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games and their final 6 games are against the Cubs and Astros giving them the easiest road to end the season. Even the Giants still have an outside shot to make the playoffs and defend their title. They are 9-1 in their last 10 and are just 3.5 games out. Before blowing the lead against the Mets tonight I would have honestly picked the Cardinals to edge the Braves but now I'm sticking with Atlanta as the wild card.

How has this not been commented on? Especially after last night, what some are calling perhaps the greatest night in regular season history.

Anyways, after all this it makes me wish I followed baseball more. As a Cubs fan, I never find many reasons to get excited about baseball. However, after watching and reading all the news about this, I didn't realize that Atlanta had ALSO collapsed so far. I knew Boston was in the middle of an epic collapse, but I figured they would pull it out since they were facing Baltimore and Tampa had to face the Yankees. I was obviously wrong. The NL surprises me less. Likely because A) I didn't realize the collapse was almost as great B) as a Cubs fan, I'm just so used to seeing the Cardinals get into the playoffs haha.

Still, not only are these collapses themselves amazing - In fact, the last one I remember to be about the same is the Mets from a couple years ago - but there's 2 in the same damn year. I guarantee this will go down in history as one of the the tightest endings to a regular season ever.

well as a braves fan i was shocked to see what was happing.i did not think it was anyway that not one but two teams that were almost certin locked into the playoffs would just stop playing for a whole month and fall out of the playoffs.i have a good feelin that in boston there are gonna be some changes.im not sure if it will be the manager or the gm but im sure someone is gonna go.as for the braves im not sure what they can do to make sure this dosent happen next year.this is a month that both braves and redsox fans wanna forget

The BoSox should be ashamed of themselves. They lost to my hometown Orioles and should have beat them easily. NYY didnt help there cause either by pulling everybody out and using 11 pitchers. Still cant believe Tampa came back from 7 down to win
