Layeth The Smackdown!
I know there is a thread out there slightly similar to this, but just listen and you will see that my topic is not identical at all. Now, there is a strong possibility that The Miz will be going to SD! in October and that is very good for him because he can continue his push there and not get boring at all. Well I think it would be a good idea to have Miz take Alex Riley over with him on SD! assuming he loses NXT and have him sort of be his follower or trainee if you will. Alex Riley seems to be doing great by himself, but have him be a follower of the Miz (not a tag team) would do wonders for his career. The Miz could be sort of like Matt Hardy when he was with the whole Mattitude thing. Have these guys take the intercontinental title and Miz take the world title and you can have a two man power trip right there. I think both guys are great on the mic, they wrestle great matches, and them cutting promos together would just be icing on the cake.

I don’t think it’s a good idea. There’s been so many stables lately that it’s starting to not have as much of an impact as it used to. I also don’t think the Miz should be leading a stable any time soon. He needs to get to the main event buy himself rather than with a stable behind him. Maybe once he’s established himself as a main eventer he could organise one but for the moment he needs to stay by himself. The only way he could work as a leader is if he just had Alex Riley follow him around (sort of like what Cade did with Jericho in ’08).

Have Riley lose on NXT and then have Miz say he’s going to keep him around anyways and move to SD. I don’t know but I don’t think a full stable is worth it or beneficial to the Miz right now. Maybe in a few years but not any time soon.

Listen to the crowd. The Miz is over enough as it is. His character thrives off of having no friends, no followers and, despite all that, proving them all wrong.

I don't know where the current trend of belief that stables are the only way for new heels to get over comes from but just take a look at the most recent stables for sure fire examples of how this isn't a working formula.

First we had Legacy, which had a very popular heel Orton at the helm taking on two rookies with a gimmick of being 3rd generation superstars. It went nowhere. Rhodes and DiBiase became for the most part became Randy's run in guys and generally found themselves used as fodder for faces who were feuding with Orton at the time. The most embarrassing part of this role was that they essentially became as weak as referees, taking a few punches that laid them out for the rest of the segment/match. Rhodes and DiBiase together held the tag titles twice... neither time as part of The Legacy. After the faction disbanded, the two have been repackaged and gained very little ground. I find it hard to imagine either of them breaking into the main event scene within the next two years. Failure.

The next example will be the Straight Edge Society. I love it simply because it makes Punk look brilliant. A cult leader with a twisted view of the world really works for him... but a cult has to have followers and those followers are... not really that impressive.

Luke Gallows, a man formally known as Festus (which in itself was a gimmick that was stale 1 minute after it debuted) has the look and booking of a man machine. A man who is difficult to beat and certainly a force that can make the SES a viable threat to Smackdown's locker room. Except he hardly ever wrestles. He has been very ineffectual in Punk's matches and he gets absolutely no crowd reaction. Anyone know what his finishing move is? No? Surely he should be doing what The Nexus have been doing and just beating on fallen opponents after the bell with his finisher, just to add insult to injury and seem stronger and actually get noticed. But no.

Serena isn't much better. She has shown impressive ability on the mic and in the ring but has hardly used either talent. We know nothing about her character. Is she Punk's girlfriend? Is she Luke's? What, other than a miserable party girl, did she actually do in her life before Punk?

And now onto Joseph Mercury. A great talent. Known at one time as the better guy from MNM... except he got fired and everyone forgot about him because Morrison hasn't done too badly since the team disbanded. I am a big fan of Mercury and I was pretty happy with his inclusion into the team as the masked man, doing what stablemates should do in matches... interfere and make your guy win. What Gallows and Serena weren't doing. This happened about twice. There was no explaination. He was then absent for a week or two before making another appearance, hornswaggle style from under the ring. Nobody seemed to mention it on TV and then one week, without any explaination... he just began coming down to ringside with the rest of the team. Why was he masked? What did it really benefit to keep his face hidden. It's Joey Mercury for christ sake. When he was unmasked, it wasn't like the SES had pulled off a major coup. It was Joey Mercury. Some kids in the Universe don't even know who he is.

And where are the SES? Mid Card hell. Fighting against Comedy Big Show. Not many people care for the feud. I'm only interested in seeing Punk, simply because he's a genius. I want this to go Main Event. I want to see someone drafted into the group that will really make a difference. I'd really have loved Mysterio to have joined a few months back and make a heel turn. Get someone like Christian on board. Hawkins and Ryder to give them a bit of validity in the empty Tag Division. I'd personally love MVP to join them... a complete change of character that he so desperately needs but still a big enough name to actually wow people.

Right now though, they have nothing. Mercury will never be more than a mid carder. Gallows will be lucky to be in Santino tag partner territory. Punk can turn it on at anytime. I firmly believe he could step into the ME scene at any time and it'd be overwhelmingly accepted and successful.

SES, in regards to its members future, not the actual greatness it does for Punk's character - Fail!

The future of Miz, McIntyre, Ziggler, Swagger, Rhodes, DiBiase and Kingston is up to how they fare on their own. They have to do it without a crutch. It's a bland, often unsuccessful formula. Sure, the occasional alliance won't hurt, like McIntyre and Rhodes are doing right now. But that won't last.

Now, there is a strong possibility that The Miz will be going to SD! in October and that is very good for him because he can continue his push there and not get boring at all. Now the only way my plan could work is if the SES breaks up of course and from the looks of it they seem to be going down that path. Well I think it would be a good idea to have Miz lead a group of talented, young, and cocky guys over on SD! where these selected individuals would be given heat off the Miz, Miz would still be able to be in the main event picture, and this group could dominate SD! The Miz could be sort of like Matt Hardy when he was with the whole Mattitude thing. You could have guys like Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, and Alex Riley be followers of the Miz and dominate SD! I think it would be good because all these guys get good heat as it is and they could still go there own ways. There me be a chance for a new tag team to form too. They could even get heat from each other and become the Fortune of SD! Yeah the Nexus is in WWE, but that is on RAW and they will probably never be on SD!, so have this faction dominate SD! Your Thoughts?
My thoughts? Use line breaks and/or proper paragraph formatting. It will make a world of difference.
Why should the SES break-up for the sake of The Miz? Fuck that. Judging by this past SD! with Serena getting the win over KK n' Show I don't see the group ending in the near future anyway. If I had to watch a heel faction I'd much rather watch one with CM Punk at the helm. He knows how to be a heel.
Matt Hardy V1 largely bombed so I wouldn't pattern my stable after them. Miz is largely fine just the way he is i.e. a cocky loner looking out for numero uno (though he really should stop trying to be the "cool heel"). Let's just let him continue to accumulate upper mid-card experience and break into the SD! main event picture all in due time.

Randomly throwing wrestlers together to form a faction is never a good idea, and this is no exception. This would totally kill any momentum that the Miz, and the other wrestlers you suggested had. Aside from maybe, just maybe having Riley as a "sidekick" or a partner (which I'm againest) , this is an absolutley terrible idea.

Alright I will admit that this is a very bad idea, but I just edited it and to me this idea would be so much better for the Miz and Alex Riley. Yes I was wrong about the other idea, but this idea would do wonders for both men and together they can improve on their wrestling skills and learn together. Also I am in a Writing Honors Class, so I can use grammar correctly and I found the V.1 gimmick very entertaining.

So you (supposedly) do indeed know how to write properly but you just actively choose to not do it. Ok, got it. You're not ignorant at all, just lazy. Thanks for clearing that up.
So if I'm to understand the edit job correctly Riley becomes Intercontinental Champion while Miz secures the World Championship? Eh, thanks, but no thanks. Riley isn't IC material yet and neither man is really lighting up the world with their in-ring abilities. Now granted they both produce slightly above average mic work but that's not enough to make them the focus of both the World and IC title pictures. But hey since they're a team I guess they should also become the Tag-Team Champs too right?
As neither one possesses much power they'd be closer to The Two-Man Ego Trip (though what they have to be truly egotistical about would be anyone's guess). At least with SCSA and HHH you had multi-time WWF Champions arguably at the top of their respective games. Instead we get a pair of spikey-haired douche bags being snarky "cool heels" inserting themselves throughout the show and chewing the scenery.
Like I said before, let's just keep on letting The Miz do what he's been doing. I'd prefer him keep his shtick a solo act and not cloud it up with any added douche baggery anyway.

The Miz really has no decent wrestling talent. All he does is rant on the mic and make a pissed of face like a bad version of Y2J in his begining Wwe years.

Besides the wwe always gives guys five moves of doom why?Im sure there is people in the back room going what the f*** Im more agile, quick, knowledgeable and an all-around better wrestler than that guy who just scream im awesome until it sticks in your brain like a tumor.

If anyone think he is in line for the tittle guess again the wwe is all about the cash and politics when it comes to holding the tittle.

I dont think I have seen the Miz go on the top turnbuckle yet.
I think they are just using him to sell SVR 11 anyways.

Listen to the crowd. The Miz is over enough as it is. His character thrives off of having no friends, no followers and, despite all that, proving them all wrong.

As of late, Riley's been running around being Miz's sidekick if you haven't noticed. With that promo he cut tuesday night, I can see him going to Raw and teaming with Miz and eventually betraying him if he wins NXT and cashes in his title shot after Miz gets beat down when he's WWE champion.

The Miz has come a long way. I always assumed Morrison would hit the WWE Title seen before The Miz did.
I am glad he hasn't cashed in MITB yet, the buildup is intense and that briefcase is doing more for him than the US title.

I don't think it's a good idea. I see what you are saying. But I disagree. He already came out of a Tag Team to begin this push. Though Morrison wasn't his "follower" like you are saying Riley should do for him. He was still aligned with someone. They just had him come out of The ShowMiz angle. Also, they almost had him align with Jericho. Or they did but it wasn't for long. He is on his biggest roll ever, and it's really the first time he has been alone.

He is just fine right where he is. He is on the brink of greatness. What they do next with Miz will determine if he is the future or not. This is the most crucial point of his career, up to this point.

I also don't think they should do that with Riley either. I think they should build him as his own entity. Remember what the Mattitude thing was? It was Shannon Moore. LOL. Not to hate on Moore, but I think Riley has a much brighter future ahead of him, then even Moore could have dreamed for himself.
