PWInsider said:Mark G. sent this very interesting link which goes to a Chicago Sun Times story that talks about all of the damage playing running back in football did to the brain of former WWE Announcer Mike Adamle. The piece quoted Adamle as saying, ''I have epilepsy from lesions on the left hemisphere of my brain. Scar tissue up there. From football. Neurologist Richard Rovenor, from Northwestern Memorial, diagnosed it and probably saved my life. I went to his funeral recently, and I shoveled dirt on his casket. He was a guy who knew about football, a wonderful man. He helped me so much, and I miss him.'' He noted that he is on medication and still has seizures and when that happens he tries " to get in a safe place, tell people to help me so I don't bite or swallow my tongue, and I get in the fetal position.'' It seems that there was a valid reason for the gaffes that he often made when working for WWE. I wish him the best in dealing with this condition.
It's a shame he didn't have any type of knowledge about this before working for the WWE and struggling with his commentary and later on, his lines as Raw GM. It also goes to show again how badly athletes struggle with brain damage brought on from sports-related injuries.
I really feel bad for Adamle and the amount of shit he got working for the WWE... I had a feeling back then that whatever he had going on was something he couldn't help.
