Phoenix

WZCW's First Triple Crown Champion
At the end of Ascension 27, Austin Reynolds and John Constantine were asked to pick their choices for the Pick Your Poison match. Austin Reynolds picked Gordito while Constantine picked former ally Showtime Cougar. Should Gordito win, Reynolds will pick the stipulation of their Kingdom Come match, if it's Showtime then it goes to Constantine. Who will earn the winner's right?

Deadline is Tuesday 1st March 23:59 EST

Both Gordito and Showtime receive an extension due to unforeseen circumstances.

[Gordito emerges from a door in a parking garage. There are some bags slung over his shoulder, and he walks with signs of pain and discomfort, but a mixed range of emotions on his face. He heads towards his van looking lost in thought, but people have gathered to wait for him. His party van no longer goes unnoticed; fans have learned where and when to wait to catch The Dirty One.]

Gordito: I guess this is the next stop for The Dirty Train.

[He drops his bags.]

Gather around, friends. The Dirty One always has time for those who have time for him.

[He signs photos and shirts and chats with the fans. Pictures are taken. The group isn't very big; maybe only a dozen or so. They range from younger kids with Gordito T-Shirts to some teenagers with piercings and torn jeans. Gordito's smiles aren't faked. He's genuinely happy to see them. After some time, the group begins to disperse. Gordito gathers his things, says his goodbyes to the remaining fans, and heads towards his van. He slides open the side door and tosses his things inside. After slamming the door shut again, he gets in on the driver's side and then sits in the driver's seat, closes the door, and zones out for a moment.]

Baez: No man, I got time for you. Just want to let you know, you did good...

[Gordito shakes his head and buckles up. He thinks out loud to himself.]

Those people back there...they need me to be better than this. Get it together, Juan.

[We cut to the city exterior. Gordito is driving to his hotel for the night. The same empty look begins to crawl over his face.]

...Lets run down the contestants of this stellar contest! First up, he's fat! He's dirty! He smells like rotten cheese, it's Gordito!!! Yes, this is the man who a few weeks ago had a great showing with the reigning champ, but at the end of the day... HE LOST!!!

[Gordito shakes his head clear again and tries to focus on getting home for the night. He comes to a stop light. He zones out again.]

...I’ve had to work my ass off since leaving Mayhem, but I don’t get the respect I deserve. I am a god-damn 4 time and longest reigning Mayhem Champion! Gordito, on the other hand, has been given opportunities on a silver platter time after time. He gets World Title shots, I am an afterthought in multi-man EurAsian Title matches. He tags with Everest and Showtime, I’m stuck facing the career loser Blade. And now, he is gifted a place in the King For a Day match while I’m on the outside looking in. I will not take this anymore.

[Gordito comes to when someone honks at him. The light is green. He quickly pulls ahead, cursing under his breathe. We cut to the inside of the hotel room. The door opens, and Gordito's silhouette stands in the threshold. His arm reaches out and he turns on the light, stepping in and letting the door close behind him and then turning around to lock it. Then he heads into the room, going towards the bed. He drops his bags, tosses his robe to the floor, empties his pockets onto the nightstand, and falls onto the bed. It's been a long night, with a lot of ups and downs.]

...he never beat me.

...he never beat me.

...he never beat me.

[Gordito sits up startled. Quickly, he composes himself. After getting up to turn off the lights and get a small drink of water, he returns to the bed. Staring up at the ceiling as he lies down on the bed, he talks to himself.]

I don't need this right now. I've got Showtime to worry about...I can't let Reynolds down.

Reynolds: Dude.....it’s going to have to be you. Pick Your Poison. I’m picking you.

[This brings a different emotion to Gordito's face; one of comfort.]

Reynolds believes in me, too. Just like those fans do. I won't let them down.

[Gordito pulls some blankets over himself and falls to sleep. Just before he's out for the night, one last voice carries through his head.]

Ty: There is no such thing as a friend in our field of expertise. Baez has simply taken advantage of your good nature, and now he wants your spot Gordito. Do NOT let him take it without putting up a fight.

[Gordito opens his eyes, and this time there's a new emotion found in them: determination.]

You have deserved and earned every opportunity you have received.

[A slight smile crawls across his face.]

He is the enemy, and he must be destroyed if you want to progress down your path.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[When we open again, we are backstage with Becky Serra and Gordito. Gordito is dressed casually in jeans and a t-shirt along with his red robe. Becky is holding a mic, and looks to the camera as she starts to speak.]

Becky: And now we have a special treat for you guys! Joining me now is The Dirty One himself, Gordito! Gordito, we all saw what happened out there at Meltdown 51.

[Gordito nods as Becky speaks, a smirk on his face.]

Baez turned his back on you and laid into you with a steel chair repeatedly. Then, on Ascension 27, foul play by Constantine landed you another upset by his hands. Most people know that you guys had a good friendship until all of this, and now they want to know...

[She turns towards Gordito.]

How are you taking this all?

Listen here, baby. I learned a valuable piece of advice a long long time ago. When you've got a ton of problems on your plate, the worst thing you can do is let them all bleed into each other. You've got to break them up into bite sized pieces. Much easier to manage that way. I've got a few bites on my plate right now, but after taking some time to clear my head and focus on this, I'm confident can weather any trouble coming my way.

Let's talk about your first bite...I mean, problem.

Showtime. First up on the list is Showtime. You know, I'm not to going to go off on a guy for walking out of a match when he knows he's beat....oh wait, yes I am!

[Gordito looks up at the camera.]

Cougar, I know you were rattled by Ty. I know it got a "little too real" for you there for a moment. I can even understand why you'd want to conserve your energy for Kingdom Come. But had you stuck around not a minute or two more, we'd have had that tag match. So what was the problem? You think you should save your energy for Ty? Afraid of showing up at the big one, Kingdom Come, and not having enough to go over the World Heavyweight Champion?! Very valid concerns, I suppose. But now you have a different problem. Now you have The Dirty One to deal with.

That's right, coming up on Meltdown 53, Showtime will be up against you in a "Pick Your Poison" match. Constantine and Reynolds have picked you two as their champions, and this match will determine who will get to pick the stipulation for their match at Kingdom Come. With the recent breakup of the Showtime Powertrip, one has to wonder whether Showtime will even care about this match or not.

Oh no, don't walk away from this one, Showtime. That'd be too easy, even for you. Take me on. Come at me, baby! I dare you to make an example out of me! Let's see first hand what the world has in store from you at Kingdom Come! No Constantine, no Reynolds, no Burna. Just you and I, mano y mano. Forget the stipulation. Forget about all of that. Let's just focus on this smaller picture for a little while together, and let's see how ready you are. Personally, I don't think you have a chance. You see, you cut John loose a little too soon. Your support structure is falling apart all around you, and you turned away the one guy who probably would've stuck by you to the end if only because he thought he'd have gotten something out of it. You've got to actually get across those bridges before you burn them, amigo.

But Showtime is no friend of Reynolds, either. Do you think that maybe that would be inspiration enough for him to take this match seriously, unlike your guy's tag match at Meltdown 51?

I hope so, baby. Man, do I hope so. You see, I've got this fire inside of me. It's what pushes me on through tough times like this. And that fire is fueled by the people who believe in me. The fans at home, boys in the back, even the guys in the offices. Everyone of them who believes that I have enough to endure this storm...everyone of them who believes in the power of will to come out on top in the face of overwhelming odds...that is what pushes me on to become better and better each and every day. We've all lost friends. We've all had people turn on us. But we keep breathing. We keep moving forward. They keep watching me, hoping for the best, and I intend to deliver.

Some of your fans may be worried that all of this is keeping you from focusing on your own match at Kingdom Come as part of the King for a Day Chamber match. Any thoughts on that?

[Gordito looks to Becky as he replies.]

That's the second bite, Becky. A lot of talented, capable, and powerful men will be locked up with me with only one of us able to lay claim to the throne. Make no mistake; I have every intention of being the last man standing, of rising above and taking my place as King. But unlike some of the others around here, I'm not going to take it easy from now until then. I have fought hard to get where I'm at, and none of that included taking the easy way out. There are no shortcuts for me, no easy outs like walking away. Each battle I have is as important as the last. The Dirty One only knows how to give his all, and the path to Kingdom Come is no different.

[Gordito looks to the camera.]

And that brings me to the final bite. Baez. How long has the jealousy burned behind that mask, old friend? How long have you lied through your teeth to me about how you really felt? Does it keep you awake at night to be so duplicitous, or does it just come naturally to you? It seems we are at an impasse; I've never beaten you, but you've never broken through like I have. Now we have a date to settle this for good: Kingdom Come. Show me, Baez. Show everyone. Show us that you are indeed ready. Show us that you are here to stay. You better bring everything and the kitchen sink, baby, because I'm not just going open some Kickassery on you, I'm going to drown you in it! I will not be bullied by some two-faced brat that couldn't manage to make an impact of his own without turning on someone who believed in him. I did, too, you know? I believed in you. I looked up to you. But at Kingdom Come, I'm going to be looking down at you. I'm going to be looking down at you while I rise above your pettiness. I'm going to be looking down at you, and then I'm going to look up...

[Gordito closes his eyes, leans his head back as if looking towards the sky, and raises his arms.]

And know that all of my hard work, all of my passion, and all of my dedication will carry me through Kingdom Come!

[He lowers his head and opens his eyes to see the camera again.]

I shall walk through the valley of the shadow of doubt, and I shall endure, baby, because I know that the WZCW Universe is with me! The Dirty Train makes no stops for traitors and liars. No stops for cowards and bullies. I am going to fight through Showtime, and then I'm coming for you, Baez. You wanted anger? You wanted rage? You wanted to get under my skin and get me to lose my cool? You don't hold that power over me! You never will! You've brought something far worse upon yourself, old friend. You've made yourself an obstacle of mine! I want you in that chamber! I only hope that you're sure that's what you really want yourself. Once that door closes, there's no going back, baby.

Scene opens at MD 52. Clips are shown of Showtime David Cougar searching around backstage, talking with various stage hands and backstage workers, are overall looking quite annoyed. Showtimes voice can be heard as the clips are shown.

Cougar: February 19th... Meltdown 52. My search for a man known to me as Trent Stonewall has gone cold. I called all the numbers Trent had given me and they were either not in service or the person on the other end had no clue who he was... or they were lying about it. I hired two private investigators whose searches both brought up no information. Maybe they were in on it as well. Maybe everyone was in on it. No one I talked to backstage had a clue who I was refering to. A joke it must be to the boys backstage. Laughing at the thought of Showtimes identity being stolen... or that he has gone completely mad in his search for what appears to be nothing. I'll show them. I'll show them all that Ty is the man responsible for this and all the bad things that has plagued WZCW. I then spotted the one person I knew wouldn't lie to me, the one person I knew would know about my former agent, Leon Kensworth.

Leon: Oh yes Show. I've heard you talking about Mr. Stonewall many times before. The man behind the star it seems. I would love to meet him one day when he's not too busy and sit down for an interview with you two.

Could it be... was Leon lying to me as well.

What are you talking about Leon. He's been at the studio many times.

I explained to Leon what Stonewall looked and sounded like. Leon shook his head and again lied to me about how he had never met Trent Stonewall before. What has Ty done to WZCW? He's brain washed them all and dilluted their very minds. No wonder he has remained champion for so long. No wonder he has been able coast through his reign facing easy and unproven wrestlers like Barbosa and Gordito. Ty had to be stopped. He has caused me to distrust everyone in WZCW, even my associate John Constantine. And that's when I saw her, Serafina. She was sitting backstage... alone. Ty barely addressed her as he stormed out of his dressing room on his way to his match with John, Serafina followed slowly behind. She was the answer to all my problems. She was how I could get back at Ty. I looked around quickly and grabbed a black sac. You know how they always say, “don’t poke the beast”. Well I was about to do a lot more than poke it.

Ty Burna has his championship returned and has his hand raised in victory. He looks around and can’t find Serafina anywhere in sight, he asks the referee what came of her. Suddenly the titantron cuts to a live feed from the parking lot where Showtime Cougar is carrying the bagged Serafina over his shoulder still, with a limo nearby, he drops her off and throws her into the back area of the limo and shouts "Drive!" when he gets in with her it screeches out of the arena. Ty gets out of the ring and runs up the ramp without any hesitation, heading through the curtain and straight to the backstage area, with the carpark in sight, he reaches there and the limo is gone as Ty stands there staring intensely at the exit as Meltdown fades out to black.

Scene reopens later that evening. Showtime and Serafina are both sitting in living room of Showtime’s Penthouse Suite. Showtime is pouring them both a glass of champagne, Serafina sits across from Showtime, a look of concern and confusion across her face.

Here is your drink my dear Serafina, and again I would like to appoligise for the way I simply snatched you from ringside. I was in quite a hurry to get you back here.

Serafina seems quite uncomfortable. She forces out a quick “that’s okay” and takes a long sip of her champagne.

Serafina: Can I please return to my Master?

Not quite yet Serafina, for I need you. You are the key to my salvation. The one that can be the answer to my prayers.

Serafina blushes, not quite sure what to make of Showtime.

Ty has had a personal vandetta against me for a very long time and the well being of me and every superstar in this company is at stake if we don’t but an end to him and his diabolical plans the Ouija has set out for him. I need to know what he’s planning on doing next and why he sent this Trent Stonewall out to distract me.

I... I do not know what my Master is planning.

What do you mean you do not know?

He... he doesn’t tell me anymore. He hasn’t shared anything with me in a long while.

But surely he must have said something to you in passing. About Trent, about what his plans are for me. He doesn’t listen to you anymore, but I am most certainly doing it right now. ANSWER ME!!!

Serafina is now upset. She downs the rest of her drink before crying back.

No... he hasn’t... or he won’t. I told you I don’t know anything. Why don’t you confront him? Why do you want me?

Because you’re real to him... or at least you used to be.

Showtime takes a moment and sips from his champagne. Serafina looks less upset and looks at Showtime strangely.

Ty once promised you the world. That you would be his queen when he has the WZCW Heavyweight Title. But has he delivered on that promise. Has he gone and taken you out and pampered you with nothing but the finest that a women such as yourself deserves. Ty has lied and deceived you into being nothing more than his loyal pet. He cares nothing about you right now, he only cares about keeping his WZCW Title Belt and he will continure to ignore and mistreat you for as long as he has the belt.

Showtime puts down his champagne glass and places his hand on Serafina’s leg. She looks up at Showtime with warmness in her eyes.

I don’t have anyone else that I can trust right now. Ty has made it so that I don’t know who’s real or who’s being real to me. What I do know my sweet Serafina is that you’re real. That your wants and your desires are real and I want to make them all happen. When I become WZCW champion you will be my Queen and we will go out to the biggest parties, you will be able to shop and dine to your hearts content. I will not lock you up and keep you from the world like Ty has tried to do. You will be free and together we can make Ty pay for the way he has mistreated you. Serafina, I see the want in your eyes. The want to be free from the shackles of a barbaric mad man, the want to be accepted and loved by a man who wants you back. Serafina, all of this is possible... all you have to do is say yes.

Showtime moves in closer till he is face to face with Serafina. Serafina shyly turns away a bit before staring straight into Showtime’s eyes. They share a passonate embrass.

Yes... I want you... my Master.

Please, don’t call me master. Call me The Showman.

Showtime pushes her back against the couch as the scene fades.

----------

Scene reopens a few days after Ascension. We are still in the same penthouse suite and the camera moves along the floor, spoting various articles of clothes and undergarments and sexual toys. The camera makes its way to the bathroom where Showtime is standing in front of a mirror, looking exhausted but content.

Damn... the things Ty has gotten this women into. It’s a greater workout than that dojo in Japan.

Showtime’s blackberry beeps and Serafina, lying under the sheets in the bed, grabs the phone.

Master Showman, you have received a message.

Showtime chuckles upon hearing “Master” and struts out of the bathroom.
What does the message say my sweet Sera-fine-ass.

Serafina smiles before reading the message.

It says that John Constantine has picked you to represent him in the Pick your Poison match this week against Gordito.

What... no incounter with Ty. Who the hell is he facing this week?

Serafina checks the to see the rest of the matches for the week.
Jordon Lights.

Hmm... Ty continues to have his way with managment, facing little minos of competition before he comes face to face with a real shark. Well to hell with Constantine and to hell with Gordito. I don’t need to compete in this match. John continues to whimpper and beg beside me after I kicked him to the curb and Gordito is nothing but a big clown who’s ballon will simply be popped.

Showtime sits at the edge of the bed. Serafina holds the sheet against her chest and slides to the edge of the belt and wraps her arm around Showtime.

But my Master Showman, there is lots that can still be gained from this match. You owe it to John as a favour in his battle against Austin Reynolds. Remember how Reynolds came to WZCW at the same time Trent did.

Showtime ponders at the sudden realization.

He came to replace you and you were able to stop that wannabe Showman in his tracks. Now we can help John finish the job and rid WZCW once and for all of your imposter

And Gordito... I know that Ty has confided in Gordito. It will further irritate him if you stop Gordito in his tracks. Show Ty that anyone we can beat, you can beat worse
.

Oh my dear Serafina, you always know exactly what to say.

Showtime pushes her back against the bed and lies on top of her. They are about to kiss when Showtime pulls out a credit card and puts it his front of her face,.

Here... go downstairs and buy another bottle of champagne and some sexy clothes I’ll have you take off for me later. I want to address Gordito privately.

Serafina nods her head and grabs the card, leaving the room in nothing but the sheet covering her. Showtime stares at her behind as she leaves the room.

Well Gordito... are you ready. Are you ready for the spot light, the big time. Sure you’ve been in two World Title Matches in the past two PPV’s, but you haven’t been to the main event until you face off against the highest rated superstar in WZCW, the most deorated champion in WZCW, you haven’t been in the ring with anybody until you’ve faced off against Showtime.
I know that thought must get you pretty excited. I’m sure you must’ve thought a lot about this match. You probably will talk about MD 51 and how I left you in the ring. Don’t dodge the real issue here Gordito. You thought you had that match won, you were sure that you had beaten one of the big boys and finally, that after months of losing big matches that you would finally win one. The fact is Gordito you didn’t and it had nothing to do with me and everything to do with Baez, actually it didn’t. It had everything to do... with you.

You lost the match... because you weren’t there for your friend. Because you took everything that he wanted and deserved and he was sick of watching you flub it all up. Gordito you may think the fans will help you get through this all. That they will push you to bigger things. The only thing the fans will push you towards Gordito... is an early grave. You have talent and your hard working so that put’s you above half the roster, but Gordito you have to realize there is no room in the main event for an overweight bar owner.

Gordito I don’t need John... or anyone to secure my victories. Unlike you... I’ve already accomplished the two things you have been unable to do. I have beaten Ty and I have beaten Baez and come this week on Ascension I will add your name to my ever expanding list. Gordito feel that fire, feel that drive and desire to compete and fight that the fans give you each and every week, because after our match, the only thing that you will be feeling is emptyness. Emptyness as you lie back down on the canvass. Emptyness as the fans say my name as my arm is raised. Emptyness... because I am Showtime... and I take whatever I want. Gordito you say you’ll bring me competition. That is good, because after Ascension, I’m gonna take your fire, and I’m gonna lit up WZCW with it. At Ascension Gordito I’m going to move one step closer to becoming champion at Kingdom Come. And as for you... when the poison sets in it will feel just like a dream when your shoulders get counted 1... 2... 3. The same dream you will live and die through for the rest of your days. Now that will be something for you to chew on for months to come.

The Dirty One faces off, mano a mano, against Showtime this Sunday only on Ascension. Gordito be prepared to clean yourself off... after I mop the ring with your blood. HA HA. Now hows that for focusing on the smaller picture.
