MD35 - Dr. Steve Kurtesy vs. Garth Black

[Phoenix]

Champion vs. Challenger of the Tag Team kind as Garth Black will take on Dr. Steven Kurtesy in his first ever singles bout. No doubt that Black will look to set an example having lost the tag titles to his opponent in his first ever WZCW match, will lightning strike twice for Kurtesy against his experienced opponent? Or will the Welshman make a big mark as Kingdom Come draws near?

[Viola Moonlight]

Sandy Deserts is seen at the reception desk taking the mail from the postman early in the morning. She thanks the postman, he exits and Sandy walks down a corridor to Kurtesy's office. Steven is seen at his desk writing down something when she enters.

Deserts: Morning doctor.

Kurtesy: Hey Sandy, did it come through the mail?

Deserts is seen sifting through the mail.

Deserts: Okay, let's see here... water bill... electricity bill... jury duty... cable tv bill... a bottle of Jack Daniels... jury duty... Playboy maga... oh wait, that one's mine... Ah, here we go. A letter to Dr. Kurtesy.

Deserts hands over the envelope to Kurtesy who examines it. He turns it over and carefully opens it. He pulls out numerous pieces of paper, along with a note on a coloured sheet. This takes Kurtesy's attention and he picks it up to read it.

Here are the notes you requested for during our appointment two days ago. I hope these can clarify that I am not going insane and that this is really happening to me. As you can tell with this letter, those notes clearly aren't written in my handwriting. I thought you could use these as well for your own personal study.

Please let me know when you have come to a conclusion and would like to discuss the matter. I appreciate all of your help.

Kurtesy lifts his head and stares into space directly in front of him, carefully thinking. Deserts is rummaging through all the papers, proof-reading all of them.

Deserts: Hmmm... these papers are certainly creative to all be written in rhyme. And the way Becky was describing all of those situations...

Deserts trails off as Kurtesy grabs the bottle of Jack Daniels that came through the mail and pops open the cork. He pours three glasses, one he pans off to Sandy and the other two he takes for himself. They begin to drink and read the notes together.

So, who wrote these?

Kurtesy: Someone who thinks they are a psychological mastermind... one of the men I will be defending my championship against at Kingdom Come.

Deserts: Well, it can't be Phoenix. If you put him and mastermind in the same sentence the Microsoft Word grammar checker would correct you. By process of elimination it has to be Garth Black, right?

Kurtesy: I have taught you well Sandy. Indeed, it is Garth Black... and it sickens me that I am agreeing with your statement as I am subsequently considering him in my area of expertise.

Kurtesy drinks the rest of his glass of scotch and puts it down on the table. Kurtesy leans forward in his chair and puts his elbows on his thighs with hands clasped together.

He is no psychological mastermind by an stretch of the imagination... nor is it any of that dark arts or black magic some say he possesses. It's him abusing the knowledge to manipulate the surroundings to how he sees fit, whether it be via confusion, doubt or frustration. Even then, these methods are done through cowardice as it is easy to blind and trick the untrained.

Unfortunately for Garth, I am anything but untrained. I have accomplished as much as Black but in a shorter span of time. We both claimed the tag team titles, but unlike Garth... it didn't take me forever. I walked into this business and almost immediately took the championship. I gained mine from Garth Black, but he did not gain his from me. We both have used psychology to outwit people, but unlike Garth... I didn't stoop down to a level where I have to challenge a defenseless woman like Rebecca Serra. I took on a man who is willing to fight, Jordan Lights, and I came out the better man. I got inside his head by making a statement when I gave him the Shock Method and defeated him when he got the chance for revenge.

Deserts: You know I support you 110% Steven, but the man isn't all about psychology. His fighting style in the ring is much different to yours. You can't rely on being able to out-psych him to win matches.

Kurtesy: Trust me Sandy, I'm a Doctor. I am already well-versed in the luchador style with all the times that you and I train together. You used to be one of the best luchadors in the business, and I have the privilege of facing you in sanctioned matches at any given time. If I can hold my own against you, what makes you think it is going to be no different when Garth takes to the skies?

We're outside the arena and Becky Serra is pacing about, waiting for an interview with Garth Black. Naturally, he doesn't show. A taxi pulls up and a German Taxi Driver opens the door

Hallo, Frau Serra?

I'm Becky Serra, I don't know who Frau is.

Oh, I haf been told to pick you up madam. For you, pacing around the arena is over, we are going to see Herr Schwarz

Herr Schwarz?

The camera pans around, past the wall, to reveal Garth Black on the other side, signing autographs on a makeshift table. He looks at his watch, shrugs his shoulders, and continues to take photos with the audience.
