It seems as though there are few videogames not in development these days and Max Payne has always appeared to be a natural fit for a film.
So its not very surprising that 20th Century Fox has nabbed the rights to the game, which finds a cop still grieving his murdered family. His tragic loss has left him a lone wolf maverick warrior, who throws all the rules aside while investigating a series of weird slayings.
And just who does Fox want to play Payne? Mark Wahlberg, who if he signs will move from Peter Jacksons The Lovely Bones to crazed gunplay.
John Moore, who last brought us The Omen, will call the shots from Beau Thornes script early next year.
I'll watch this. Love the original game. It's one of the only level type games that I've ever stuck with right to the end. Not sure about Wahlberg though. When he's on form he's awesome. Only problem is that he's hardly ever on form and he's a total bore. If it's Departed Whalberg then cool. But if it's usual Wahlberg then bad. He also has some quality control issues from time to time as well.
