Madden 12 addition?

Sully

Pre-Show Stalwart
The Madden franchise needs a lot of improvement, but one thing they must have in the game, would be for Chris Collinsworth to tell the story about how Mike Wallace stopped practice once, to mention how Ben over threw him.

They need to put this in the game, and make it realistic too. Collinsworth has to tell the story twice, at some point during the game, and it has to at least be every 3 games. Doesn't have to be Collinsworth either, whoever is the color commentator should be the one doing it.

The first time during the pre-season games when they told the story, ok cool. But whenever they told that story every other fucking game, it got really annoying. It kinda reminded me of Madden, how Collinsworth often repeats things. I pictured that story to be something he'd say during a Steeler game on Madden.

They could tune up the frequency at which a penalty is called, at also have teams who get penalty's often in real life, get penalty's often in the game, even if some are bad calls. They should put bad calls, and referees suck chants in the game too.

I was joking about the Mike Wallace thing, but a cool thing in Madden would be off field issues, suspensions. They could use a ranking somewhat like the Old Spice Swagger ranking they added this year. Say a guy like Michael Vick could have an 85 in it. The higher the number, the higher the chance of getting in some type of off field trouble.

Whether it be a fine, or a suspension. They could also have news reports or articles about it in the top news section. I don't think that would happen though, because it could cause some controversy with real players, or people getting angry at the levels they had.

That would be cool. Who was it who got in the car accident this year? Broke his leg?

And some illnesses could take a player out of the game, and some could just lower their overall (or other skills such as strength, speed, etc.)

And Ryan Clark has that one thing....
Clark suffers from sickle-cell trait, which can cause complications during extreme exercise conditions and hypoxia from high altitudes. In 2007 during a game against Denver at Invesco Field at Mile High, because of the altitude he had to be rushed to the hospital in the middle of the game to have his spleen and gallbladder removed. Since recovering from his crisis in 2007, Clark has been involved with sickle cell disease awareness, research, treatment and programming in Pittsburgh.

They could have that affect his performance in areas like that as well. Madden thinks because they are the only game with license to NFL teams, that they can just half ass their way thru the games.

Haha. Reminds me of the guy when ran out, and Favre gave him the ball. He almost ran all the way back, and even juked a security guard. Sadly he got tackled round the 15. Set the Packers up for field goal range though. :lmao:

Or when James Harrison nailed that Browns fan. Suprised Harrison didn't get a fine for that.

They should actually take the year off if there's a lockout to actually put some improvements into the game, but we all know that wouldn't happen since it would hurt the bottom line too much.

I know they're completely overhauling the Franchise mode as well as the Online features, but it was going to take them about two years to do it so they started working on those changes right after Madden 10. Madden 11 was basically a stopgap solution for a year so they could put all the major changes into Madden 12.

Madden 12 should be a great improvement. And I'm hoping to see a Steeler on the cover. Thankfully, I don't think Brady wants to be on the cover.

I'm hoping for the same people I'm hoping for Superbowl MVP. Ben Roethlisberger, or James Harrison. Wouldn't mind Mike Wallace.

Uh, dude, no you don't. Madden Curse. Brady for cover.

The following is said in complete seriousness for what I would love to see involved in a Madden Franchise..

1. Off-season activities. (anyone remember the workout drills that helped give extra pts to your players? BRING THEM BACK)

2. Personal issues. (drug abuse, players unhappy at coaches/vise versa, rape cases, suspensions, threats of retirement, all of it.)

3. Superbowl Halftime show. Seriously, I get most people would skip past it, but they HAVE a ton of music on every game - just add in generic white/black/brown dancers/singers, and have a halftime show with one of those songs play every year.

4. (Online mode)- Salary cap. CPU teams cut/sign players, so the commish doesn't have to do it. Ability to trade draft picks, or workout deals with multiple teams.

I have no problem with them having a Steeler on the cover, just keep Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews or any other Packer as far away from the madden cover as possible:lmao:

I'm almost sure it'll be Tom Brady, or Michael Vick (for the second time) - has there ever been a 2x cover guy?

Besides John Madden, that is.

I was once playing a game with the Jags against the Browns or Bengals. Collinsworth randomly goes off on a tangent that took half a quarter about how TE's are the most athletic players on the team and how great Antonio Gates is. I was baffled by him just listing Gates' accomplishments during a game that didn't even include him. I didn't know they recorded that kind of stuff for games. I got me a good laugh.

But I like Collinsworth, he always sounds drunk to me.

And please put one of these players on the cover:

Peyton Manning
Dwight Freeney
Reggie Wayne
Arian Foster
Matt Schaub
Andre Johnson
Chris Johnson
Kenny Britt

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning both don't want to be on the cover. If they did, don't you think they would've been on it already?

The Madden Curse has not inflicted Drew Brees yet, maybe it's broken. Although, there is still the off season. Maybe he'll get in some car accident, or a crazy Madden fan will take out his knees with a baseball bat. We can call him bad knees Brees.

They shouldn't put guys on it twice. They're are so many people to put on the cover, don't put a guy who didn't even make it past the wildcard. No offense to Vick, he did great this year, but he was already on the cover.

Whoever wins the Superbowl, give it to one of them. I want to see James Harrison. The guy who's been ranting on about being the NFL, about being the penalty posterboy, well put his face on the cover. Ben Roethlisberger, I'm more dedicated on him getting the MVP of the Superbowl more then anything else, but I wouldn't mind seeing him. I think I'd rather it be another Steeler though. Like Mike Wallace or Hines Ward. Mendenhall maybe.

If Green Bay by chance wins, then it will probably be Rodgers. I want to see a Steeler though. When we win a superbowl, they stick two guys up there. I want one Steeler up there.

But since I brought up MVP, if Pittsburgh wins, it should be Ben. Without a doubt, it should be Ben. I expect him to throw at least 300 yards. If they screw Ben Roethlisberger out of another MVP. That is if we win. If not Ben, then Harrison. If not Harrison, then Mike Wallace. I don't want Wallace getting it till later though.

As a Steeler fan, it's my duty to say we're going to the Superbowl every year...but to be honest, I think the next year we go, will be 2014. I have a good feeling about that year. 2012 too, I have a good feeling about 2012 as well (I'm talking about season, I hate it when people refer to it by the actual year, for example..whenever they say oh, the Steelers are 2009 Superbowl champions. No, we're 2008 Superbowl champions).

I can actually believe this to be true, and every bit of the reason why.

The Madden Curse has not inflicted Drew Brees yet, maybe it's broken.

Uhm, he threw 22 INTs, (more than he ever has before) and his team lost in the Playoffs. Not to mention, 2 of the 3 other teams in his division impressively got better - good enough, that the Saints are now going to struggle being on top and could end up as low as 3rd place next year.

I'd say that was a pretty bad year.

I don't look at the Curse as being something that means the player has to be involved in a serious injury. Just sorta a disappointing season, or a far drop from the previous year.

Before the cover = Superbowl Champion
After the cover = Thrown more INTs than ever before, his division rivals improved by leaps and bounds, and his team fell apart with injuries all over the place.

Came across this article, looks like we are going to see at least some new things in Madden 12. :)

The Super Bowl halftime developer blog delivering the first substantive information on Madden NFL 12 has arrived. Surprise onside kicks have been added and “Tuner Sets” will be implemented in the game. Check out the full blog which includes some video here.
The “tuners” have been featured in the NHL series and NCAA Football series as well as the upcoming Fight Night Champion. It allows for updates to be made to the game without going through the typical patch process. Those games have received several gameplay related tweaks that otherwise would have not have come at the same rate and has proven to be a valuable feature.
Of course the surprise onside kicks have been debated heavily on Twitter. Check out some of my earlier back-and-forth discussion with Ian Cummings. The big instance came in the Super Bowl last year making it a glaring omission (especially given it was in the opening video of Madden 11) and then it became a more heavily utilized coaching decision throughout the season. There were something like 14 of them attempted which would be more than some plays included in Madden already.
The question has always been how to implement something that relies on the element of surprise. Going into this year the surprise onside kicks have been successful at an over 60% rate so obviously it can’t just be used all the time and work at that percentage. It will be interesting to see what type of restrictions have been placed on the feature. I would be satisfied with it being limited to one attempt per game.

I've been calling for surprise onside kicks for the past few years, as it is just near impossible (at least for me) to do an onside kick. However hopefully this isn't incredibly easy and you get one every time. If that's the case it will suck.

I've always wanted them to add in an expanded roster during the offseason. That way you can build up some players and even have a practice squad where you can store late round picks/average FA signings to get better. Hell, even allow the computer to steal (and you from them) if you want a practice squad guy.

Practice Squad Rosters would be AMAZING. It would give you purpose to have a use for crappy C-potential draft picks, while waiting for them to progress.. instead of just cutting them into FA obscurity.

They used to do this with the college football games. It wasn't nearly as interesting as it seemed. It was usually more of a hassle than anything else.
