One of my favourites. In fact tapes of this and James Bond Jr. kept me entertained for hours as a kid (I had a depressing childhood). The only shame was that this show only lasted a year, like so many other Saturday morning cartoons in the 90's. Feel free to contribute and discuss others that have been swept under the rug and will likely never have the privelege of being released to DVD.

Batman The Animated Series (well what else was i going to say?) which later on became The New Batman Adventures and then became something else which i can't quite recall the titles of.

As the series evolved, it became more and more dark as time went on. They frequently had the Joker killing civillians as opposed to simply trying to kill them, only for Batman to have a magic antidote or some shit.

HMV only ever released the first two seasons on DVD here in the UK and every other availbale collection is region 1. If only the PS3 were region free.

Freakazoid was always a laugh, as well as Earthworm Jim, Toxic Crusaders, and the one and only Pinky and the Brain..... BEST-SPIN-OFF-EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the shows listed here like Batman and James Bond Jr were on monday-friday. Maybe they were on Saturdays as well though. I enjoyed both.

I miss the days of Saturday morning cartoons. A few weeks before each "season" there would be a preview special and it always hyped me up but these days not only does that not happen but there are only a minimal number of cartoons. They even stopped with the teen shows. There were several saved by the bell like shows like California Dreams and whatever. Obviously I don't watch them now but when I have kids I wish that they'd have better options like we did on Saturday mornings and even weekdays

The number of cartoons that I loved was huge including Captain N, Xmen (before that ended up on weekdays too), TMNT (same thing) and so on. This doesn't refer to Saturdays but the USA Cartoon Express had so many great shows, usually hanna barbara based.

There were four cartoon/animated shows I watched on Saturday mornings when I was a kid.

Doug - Interesting show that was originally on Nickelodeon (I think it moved to another station eventually, although I am not sure of this) about some kid names Doug who was either in middle or high school. He had some blue friend whose name (if I remember correctly) was Skeeter, a crush on a girl named Patti, and a green tormentor named Roger. Eh, it was better than most things on television at the time.

Ren and Stimpy - Frickin' awesome show about a chihuahua and a cat who are roommates. This show was way ahead of its time and, even though it was on Nickelodeon, was geared more towards teenagers and young adults.

Rocko's Modern Life - Another Nickelodeon show about a wallaby that was similar to Ren and Stimpy but that was, in my opinion, nowhere near as good. But, given its similarity to Ren and Stimpy, it was inevitable that I would like it.

Bobby's World - I think this show aired on Fox. Anyway, a show about some huge-headed kid named Bobby and his family that was created by Howie Mandel. Pretty good, although it definitely doesn't appeal to me now like Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life still do.

used to live for saturday mornings. a cup of hot chocolate and some vegemite on toast sitting in front of my TV was my ritual. there was nothing better.

My favourites would of had to be Rocko's modern life. Everything about that show entertained me. I used to watch it every day without fail, but the best episodes was always on Saturday. Even now at 19 If i see Rocko on TV i will sit down and watch it.
That was a hoot.

Catdog. A cat and dog stuck together? who in the hell wouldnt want to watch that. I loved that show.

Hey arnold. the old football head with the possesive stalker. Arnold was everything he had the moves and lived a very wierd but interesting life.

Rugrats- I had to watch this one in secret because my mom thought it was "crude". I have no idea why, but whatever. I always liked the twins and Chuckie.

Doug- My favourite character was Skeeter, which didn't seem funny at the time, but now a lot of names in that show seem questionable. Skeeter looked like Waldo but blue. The rest were pretty plain.

Big Comfy Couch- This was an adult woman dressed as a little girl clown with a puppet doll she would talk to. The show took place on a giant couch. She was also friends with a postman who rode a unicycle, and they'd go visit her grandma every day and shenanigans would ensue.

Captain Planet- Nobody remembers this show but me. It had a song that went "captain planet, he's a hero...gonna take the villains down to zero!" and it consisted of Captain Planet and his squad of teenage environmentalists to save the world from pollution created by evil corporate CEOs. I loved that show.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch- Okay, this was Friday night, not Saturday morning, but it was my favourite show as a preteen and I watched it religiously.

The Bugs Bunny and Tweetie Show- They were always my favourite WB characters, and when I watched that show it was a real treat. Tweetie outsmarting Sylvester...ah, good times.

Hey Arnold!

This show had so many little quirks to it that made it great. The characters were developed and different and the stories never got old. Everything from war to humor, this is a classic.

Mrs. TM, my user tag used to be Earth, Fire, Wind, Water Heart. I LOVED Captain Planet. He was just such a great character that for some reason was addicting as hell. Although it's gonna take pollution down to zero.

Doug-Own seasons 1 and 2 on dvd. Simply classic. I identified with him so much.

Saturday morning was the best time for cartoons. Usually you'd get double bills of all the best shows throughout the morning up until the afternoon, and then the same on Sunday. Some of these cartoons still remain my favourite shows:

Dick Dastardly & Muttley In Their Flying Machines

My favourite cartoon of all time. Everything from Dick Dastardly's hilarous voice and catchphrase "Drat, drat and DOUBE DRAT!" to Muttley's weezing laugh made this show a definite standout as a child.

Dexters Laboratory

In the UK, this show originally started as a Saturday morning programme until it gained mass popularity and the original run ended in 1998, which many, including myself would call the glory years of Dexters Lab. When it went back into production in 2000, a new team took over and it just wasn't the same.

Anyways, a funny show about a boy genius who has a laboratory hidden in his bedroom, whon feuds with his sister and arch-rival Mandark over who was the bigger genius. It also featured short shows within itself, such as "Dial M for Monkey".

Some others greats include Gargoyles, Cow and Chicken, I Am Weasel, Hey Arnold! and Johnny Bravo.
