In the WWE magazine for the past couple of months they've had a Battle Of The Ring Gear thing going one. Basically who has the best prop, or entrance attire in wrestling. Ric Flair won with his robes. Well they looked cool in the 80's. Now he looks like an onld cat with matted fur. But still.

I know WWE magazine is harmless fun, and childish. But some of the choices are baffaling. Flair's robe beat out LOD's shoulder pads. Ric Flair was more than his robe, yet LOD only had there look. So I don't see how he wins.

Cena's pumps went over, The Godfather's Hoes, Boss Man's nightstick & Mr. Socko. Cena wears pumps? Big deal. Edge wears thongs. Who gives a shit.

Other odd choices were Sgt. Slaughters whistle, Hornswoggle, MVP's necklace, Candice's wand, JYD's chain. MVP has a necklace? They were really scraping the barrel on that one. Where are Angle's medals? TNA presumably.

Anyway what do you think is the most iconic piece of ring gear?

I'd have to go with either LOD's shoulder pads or Diggan's 2x4. None of them really offered much. LOD used to have shitty squash matches, and Duggan was an ok brawler 20 odd years ago. It's debatable weather either would be as big without their items.

I'd have to go with the Legion of Doom shoulder pads. Their look got them over, without their look they would not be as big as they were. Those shoulder pads made them. That's why they should win this.

Ric Flairs robes were big, but they are definately not what made him big, he had alot to back it up with. Undertaker's urn only worked when Paul Bearer was around, so it shouldn't be the best ring gear. John Cena's pumps deserve it the least, as they were only for his rapper gimmick, the gimmick is over, and the pumps are forgotten.

I went with the urn. It was around forever and had so many different shapes and sizes. It was a perfect piece to add to the Taker character as it made him seem almost immortal. When I was a kid and Dibiase stole it and took the lid off the smoke scared me to death, and when Paul Bearer turned on him for mankind I freaked out, all because of the urn. It's the symbol of the deadman.

You can,t beat the nature boys robe. Its iconic. Its been around for at least 30 years. Its something a wreslting fan can never forget-Colourful,lively,and caught you attention. The perfect package.

But Flair would still be Flair without the robe. Unlike a lesser wrestler who is only his gimmick. Flair could have come to the ring in a God awful Edge style jacket. It wouldn't have mattered because he could still get it done in the ring.

But would people really care about The Road Warriors if it wasn't for their look?

Without a doubt, it has 2 be bret harts sunglasses...more than 1 person came down 2 the ring in a robe in the wrestling world so sorry flair, even though urs looked fairly nice, bret hart has the edge on u by a long shot..the shades were highly unique, was a great addition 2 the overall hitman character, and the way he actually went 2 a fan and placed them on their head is not sumthing u see everyday in the wrestling world...that also made his character as a face stand out tremendesly and that was part of what put the hitman character over...plus! They looked awesome and I'm proud 2 announce that I hav a pair and got them signed recently wen I met bret a couple of months back

I took Flair's robe just because of how it sold the nature boy gimmick, it just fits his persona perfectly. Next would have to be the Bret Hart sunglasses cause it made him the ultimate face the fans always wanted to win when he was doing the sunglass thing and third has to be the hulk hogan rip away shirt, if it wasnt for that hulk would just be a bald, bulky guy who hit a leg drop

I definately have to side with Jake on this one. And ill explain why.

When talking to people who arent real familure with the sport, has anyone ever reffered to Bret Hart as "the guy with the glasses"? Mr.Perfect as "the guy with the towel"? Ric Flair as "the guy with the robe"?...probably not. But I can almost GARUNTEE that u have, or have hear of people referring to LOD as "the guys with the spikes" and to Hacksaw Duggan as "the guy with the 2X4".....LOD was as much about the look, and the intimidation, as what went on in the ring. That look, and entrance for that matter, was as much a part of their persona as anything. Same with Duggan and that 2X4. His american flag shouldve been mentioned as well. Duggan was loved becuase of the hokeyness of the 2X4, the flag, and the "hooooooooo". Which is why he can still get by and work a crowd doing the EXACT SAME SHIT all these years later, and while he will continue to be able to do that. The flag and the 2X4 shall remain, as nothing else he does has really diminished, becuase outside of the Flag and 2X4, there wasnt much else there anyway.

Al Snow!! Referred as the guy with the mannequin head. Had his figures taken off the shelves cause they were dangerous (proud owner of one :))

If anyone in that list is reconised by there gear it's Al Snow.

I don't think it would count, but you also would have to consider Jake Roberts with teh big fucking bag.

However, I tend to agree that this should be LOD's spikes or Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the 2x4. Hell I can joke around with the guys still and pick up a 2x4 and yell Hooo, and everyone will know what the fuck I'm doing. As stated those other guys would still be who they were without the ring gear they had, specially Flair. Hell, i would wager to say Perfect's gum spit was better then anything he did with his towel.
