Kenny Omega

Occasional Pre-Show
It was only 2 years ago that I really started watching wrestling outside of America. I would go to PWG shows, or watch ROH if its on TV, but it was just recently I started watching wrestling in Japan. And I love it, I don't know much of the history behind matches, I just watch it to see awesome in ring action. And one match that I seriously love was between Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi.

Now both are talented, but I seriously wonder why TNA hasn't picked this guy up. I know WWE had him in developmental awhile ago, and I don't know why they let him go, but right now he seems to be just on fire. He's young only 32, has an amazing look, and I feel as if he could be a top guy in TNA, or be one of the bigger stars in WWE.

Though I've only seen him cut a few promos (which were pretty good) I feel his in-ring skills and look would make a great addition to WWE or TNA.

I know he just recently had some great matches at Bola this year, but I hope he continues to rise next year.

Thoughts on Kenny Omega?

I'm a huge supporter of Kenny Omega! One way or another, that guy should be a north American based superstar.

To give you an idea about him, he's canadian, but he speaks Japanese fluently. I don't know what it is about these "kids" in wrestling now a days, but a lot of them seem to be heavily influenced by Japanese wrestling. There's some sort of weird nerd link between video games, comic books, and non-wcw/wwe wrestling a lot of these 25-35 yr old guys share.

Like if Kenny did join TNA/WWE/GFW, someone would have to talk to him about his japanese-centric style of wrestling. Sometimes he acts like a guy(or girl) straight out of anime. Like at WK9, his heel character could of walked out to the ring calm and cool like Steve Austin at King of The Ring 96', but he kind of geeked it up. I don't know whether it's needed or not in Japan, but in the US those mannerisms would have to change.

Like once he was on national tv, no more street fighter moves. Now I say all of this as a big fan of Kenny Omega because to me, he's one of the few guys I rather watch and would like to see become a big star.

Kenny has done shoots recently and has said that his match with the 7 yr old girl didn't help him job wise and that in Japan he doesn't make as much as he'd like because he's not Japanese. He may have recently signed with New Japan, but before that, I don't see any reason why he would of turned down a decent deal from TNA because he was not making a substantial amount working for companies like DDT. He even said he was envious of the money AJ Styles was making, basically.

My hope is that Kenny was brought into New Japan for WK9 because he was brought in by Jeff Jarrett, apart of the Bullet Club, and that Kenny is already a member of the eventual GFW debut. He part-timed for New Japan but could not get a full time spot with them until Bullet Club so I think it had more to do with GFW.

As for TNA, it's another indy guy on a long list of indy guys they missed out on. That really is a strike against their evaluators that they could of not picked up more promising prospects in the past years then the ones they have. How hard would of it been to grab Dean Ambrose from CZfreakingW?

Whoever scouts talent for them needs to be fired cause they really suck. Remember that guy on gutcheck they had who couldn't even wrestle Gunner who was fat and yet had a six pack and saw his brother get shot?

Anyway, my hope is Kenny Omega is now a Jeff Jarrett guy and will be apart of GFW, which will hopefully get a tv deal. With all the garbage we see, it blows my mind this guy is just sitting in Japan making "foreigner" money when he should be a huge star for a company based out of North America.

For those of you who might not know, WWE has offered Omega three contracts, and he turned each of them down. He was in WWE's developmental territory in Deep South Wrestling, but left with a bitter taste in his mouth. He has blasted Bill DeMott and WWE on their training methods.

In plain English, Omega is much better off in Japan and in the Indies. I do not see GFW becoming anything more than a media go between for the Wrestling community.
