Kanye's Newest Project

Say what you want about Kanye... he may be an absolute douche, but the man makes amazing music, whether as a performer or a producer. And his newest project is something that is incredibly risky, but is definitely going to sell huge, especially when it comes out right at the holiday season.

The album is set to be called 808s & Heartbreak, and it's in reference to the Roland TR-808 drum machine. He's going to be singing with a program called Auto-Tune, and there's going to be little to no rapping on the album. The album isn't even due to be released until December, but he's already premiered his newest single, "Love Lockdown" last week at the MTV VMAs and now has debuted the single. There is no rapping at all on the track and I love it. Kanye keeps reinventing himself and is without a doubt the best hip hop artist out there today.

I've always been a fan of Kanye, actually he is one of my favorite artists. The man is basically a genius and everything he touches is great. The man makes all kinds of music from rap, Hip Hop to what ever you wanna call this. He showed his ability when his last album sold more copies than the 50 Cent album. More than likely this is going to be a huge success. This is on my to buy list along with Eminems new CD coming.

Believe it or not. As much as you see me say about Rap. I am an avid Kanye West fan. The man simply brings it, and he raps about stuff that is very relevant and from the heart. With that being said. This is very risky of him. But I think its great. Like said before everything the man touches turn to gold. His state of mind when it comes to anything but music is questionable. But he keeps innovating the music scene. This is going to be huge.

He's kind of awful. In fact not kind of, he just is. Completely. Never have I heard a song from him which hasn't ended in me wanting to go deaf just so I wouldn't have to hear anymore of it.

I don't know what you mean by 'innovate' Monkey, he sounds exactly the same as all the other worthless rappers out there. He isn't original, few rappers are. I bet most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Kanye song and another rap song.

And now this new style? Um, what the hell? You weren't good at rap, you're not good at this either. Do the world a favour and stop making music.

you can criticize Kanye West but people love him. The man is a fighter. 50 Cent put a challenge out about record sales, Kanye was so confident he accepted it. Not only did Kanye win, he literally destroyed 50, and he broke a a first week record set by Maroon 5. Too say he isnt a good artist is absolutely ridiculous. You might not like em, but that doesnt mean he's bad. I dont like Metallica but that doesnt mean they suck

Kanye is innovated because he stands up for what he believes, he doesnt rap about woman, drugs or killing people. I can easily tell the difference between a Kanye Song and a 50 song. there styles are completely different, 50 is more of a "rapper" and Kanye's music is hip hop. Kanye has won awards worldwide so to say he's bad is just highly ridiculous.

kanye west is prob one of my fav rappers in this generation of fake wanna be rappers that dont do anythin but rap about the same thing drugs,money,and women. kanye beats and lyrics are a nice change even though his lyrics may not be the best there about real things everyday ppl can relate to. but i cant really get into the whole t-pain sound effect that everyone has been bitting on it makes him and weezy sound stupid as hell

I haven't heard the song all the way through, but it doesn't sound amazing but it doesn't sound horrible. I haven't heard anything but the verses though.

I just wanted to note that the version posted here, is a crappy version. The leaked version is NOTHING compared to the mastered version. There is a massive difference in quality.

Like they do every other rapper. Why? Because they all sound the same. Originality is lost in these guys, which is one of the main reasons I hate generic rap music. I like artists who have something different, who have emotion in their music, who don't feel the need to conform into what everyone else is doing. One artist finds a formula that works, and every copies. It's the same with other genres, yes. but usually you can at least tell the difference between them.

Kanye isn't overly bad at what he's doing if you're a fan of rap. But he's nothing special.

I think he's music is alot different from most rappers. Listen to Stronger and tell me which rap song it reminds you of? Also Love Lockdown sounds totally new and fresh to me. Alot of people don't like his music which is fine, but I personally love his music. And Love Lockdown is a great song. He actually sings in the song also which is nice, and this is my favorite song from him since All Falls Down or Gold Digga. Also if you don't think his music doenst have any "emotion" check out a song of his called "Hey Mama" from his second CD, songs like it has emotion.

As a huge Kanye fan since day one, I am really nervous about this one. The auto-tuner effect is rather annoying, and Love Lockdown is not anything special. That being said, I have faith in Kanye, I never thought he would do better than College Dropout either. I have only liked half of the songs he has used the auto-tuner thing in. I have a feeling he is going to pull it off, like he always does, but it's still making me nervous.

I'm another Kanye fan, but this new single does not really sound that great. It's ok, but I prefer his older stuff. If this is what the rest of the album is going to be like, it will just be an average album. Kanye is obviously trying to branch out even more than he already is, but this just does not work. His sound is different to other rappers, why couldn't he stick with the sound he already has? It's unique and it works for him.

I really like Love Lockdown and am glad Kanye is changing it up a bit. Love Lockdown sounds fresh and unlike any other song on the radio right now. Also people seem to love it as well since it has been #1 on ITunes for almost a week and in 4 days sold 200,00 downloads(which is impressive) and it debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at #3.

An emphatic bump.

I cannot stop listening to this album since I obtained it this weekend. It's such a good album, and there is not one bad track at all. It's something that is such a departure from his CD last year, which I loved, but grew tired of after a month or so. You can tell that this album meant a lot for Kanye, as he's gone through a lot of personal issues over the last year, and he pours his heart out with 11 excellent tracks.

This is something brave and new from one of hip-hop's most original artists, and he's really outdone himself. From what I've read so far, this album is something you're going to love or hate. He's come under a lot of criticism from straying from what he usually does, but he's truly evolved with this album.

 

[Minor League Brian]

I'm sorta torn on this album. I actually love the album...but at the same time, I can't stand it. Its so repetitive, like really bad techno, but the story behind it is superb and then you've got great breakdowns like in RoboCop, but somethings are just too drawn out. I kinda equate it to Angels and Airwaves first album, his "timing" is off with this new style but if he tries it more in the future, it can ONLY get better.

After listening to the album a lot this past weekend, I have decided that I enjoy it. For one, the beats are absolutely magnificent. The auto-tune I enjoyed on almost every song and all of the lyrics were very creative. But I still prefer the more rap-orientated songs such as "Amazing" and "Welcome To Heartbreak." All in all, an album that is by no means a failure, and is always entertaining. That being said, I am already anticipating the next Kanye rap album, because it will own.
