Jobbing In Home Towns

To me this is pointless. I honestly dont see why they job people out in there home town. Especially on Raw. Why did Candice get pinned last night? She's the home town girl. Yeah Candice sucks, but did you hear the pop she got? And yet who does the job in the match? Candice. Couldn't Jeff have got pinned? The result would have been the same and the home town hero wouldn't look stupid.

They do the smae with Regal. In 2004 I saw an episode of Raw in Manchester. Regal's pop was on par with Austin in 1998. I'm not joking. He was over huge. So what do WWE do? They have him and Tajiri lose to La Resistance. What is the point?

Now I'm not saying that certain superstars should never lose in there home town/state/country. There are acceptions. If it's a big show, sure give the right person the victory. And If the loss would mean something.

The British Bulldog never lost in England. He was invincible. But at One Night Only 1997 he did. And it got some of the best heat ever. There was a reason for it, and it worked.

My point is, how are the home fans supposed to care about there local wrestlers if there not going to win in there specific home town?

agreed on this one. I was there when Regal was beat and all around us expected it to happen.

Candice's pop last night was great, but they had to further the angle between Beth and herself, so they thought the best thing would be to have Beth get the pin.

Personally id of had Candice get the pin, and then build it up more over the next couple of weeks

Candice didn't need to win per se. But she didn't need to be the one who was pinned. Everyone expects Phoenix to beat her, so that doesn't matter. But now she looks like a jobber in her home town. Jeff Hardy should have been the one to take the fall. There trying to build up Benjamin so it would make more sence than having somebody take the pin who you already expect to win.

This could go either way.. I mean, for obvious reasons you'd understand why.. but take for example all the original jobbers that are from local indy wrestling companies?

Tons of local indy wrestlers, who may be undefeated in their own indy federation may be brought in & squashed in less than 10 seconds to a W.W.E. guy.. how do you think that makes them feel about their local indy guys? I mean, sure.. an indy guy is going to lose 9/10 to a known wrestler almost all the time, but how he loses is what makes you change how you look at the indy company too.

Now, regarding Candice, her pop (as much as I want to say it was all her) was more for them mentioning she's from there. Fans are awful with that, they hear their hometown being mentioned on t.v. & go all pudding & childish.

Anyways.. Beth Pheonix needed the win more than Candice, to get a rematch. How would you explain Beth deserving a rematch, after she cleanly lost at Unforgiven? Her winning a #1. Contender's Match could've worked.. but the classic way is by having them defeat the Champion.

Hometown losses are kind of a tradition. The one place you don't want the wrestler to lose, they lose. Mickie James lost the title near her hometown, and she lost a tag team match in her hometown back in June. Trish lost the Women's Title match at WM 18 in her hometown, Edge also lost the WWE title there.

Candice doesn't look like a jobber. One loss is not jobbing, especially since Candice has not been pinned for 4 months or something. Beth Phoenix winning just makes her look even more dominant, and that's the whole point right?

By having Shelton pick up the victory. Same result but the home town girl doesn't get pinned.

It's ok for them to job at a big show like Mania, Rumble or to a degree a B Show. But if you frequently job them out when there at home it will get to the point were fans dont care about them. Regal & Taylor could barley get polite applause when they were last in England. Sure nobody cares about Taylor but 3 years earlier Regal got a monster pop.

The only one I can remember is when Edge lost a match against Cena for the title... it might have been at unforgiven last year, they were hyping it up for being in toronto and edge loses... I dont understand it really. Like jake said, the british bulldog only lost once in england so why is it more common these days??

there was a rule in thew 80's i think that you couldnt job in your home town but these days you need to see what irt does for individual story line, they arte trying to make candice the new trish, so she is expected to job to the monster heel in non titlew matches to build up the storyline which i think is well presented at least shes not having a mysterio run where he was jobbing to every 1 and he was the world champ!

Personally I don't like the entire idea of picking victories just because it's in your hometown. Even though it would give the people in attendance to mark for if their favorite wrestler from their home-town "overcome the odds"; such as I would definitely mark out if I see CM Punk picking a win during a WWE event in Chicago. However, for the rest of the viewers it's just too predictable for EVERYONE to ALWAYS be winning in their hometowns. And hell, even John Cena lost in his hometown last year at SummerSlam against Edge I believe.

I remember when Mysterio was World Heavyweight Champ, he returned to San Diego for his homecoming, and had to face, of all people, The Great Khali. That was a non-title match arranged by JBL, and Mysterio got completely squashed in the match. It's happening a lot more and we have one person to thank...

Bret Hart...

I think Vince is booking people to lose in their hometowns because he doesn't want another incident where someone can refuse to lose in their hometown or home country. Bret had it in his contract that he had creative control and refused to lose the belt to Shawn Michaels in Canada because he felt it would hurt him. Now, I think that weighs heavily in Vince's mind so he's making sure that when the WWE is in someone's hometown, they don't expect to automatically be the winner. Remember that Cena lost a WWE Title match at Summerslam in Boston, Edge lost the belt in Toronto, and Candice losing, among others.

I think Vince and the rest of creative feel its a way to get someone over or just to kill the hometown love a wrestler gets IMO. I mean they do it on such a regular basis that is something you expect now. I can understand them doping to a heel as you don't want the face pop, but when there a face WWE could let them win and let their hometown fans enjoy it. Though they will continue to do it for why i have no idea.

Thats a fair point, its the same reason why the wwe refuses to work with hogan as he only wants to do the big three pay per view programs and never job to anyone, it totally wrecked his feud with HBK, imagin it could have turned into somethin amazing instead Hogan refuses to job and then the whole thing gets called off after summerslam and its a damn shame.

Besudes i think it doesnt matter weather its your home town or not, if it furthers a storyline you need to job simple as...
