Jesse Ventura - Navy SEAL or Underwater Demolition Team?

Behold my diction
Apparently some folks have tried to research Jesse Ventura's status in the Navy, in an attempt to scrutinize whether or not he was really a SEAL.

For some perspective on this subject, Bob Shipley -- retired Navy SEAL -- shares his insights on the difference between a SEAL and a UDT.

I've heard for years that Ventura was a former Navy Seal, and to tell you the truth he doesn't seem like the kind of person who would lie or make up a claim like that.

This guy ran for and won a public office, Governor of Minnesota I believe, so if at any time his claim as a former Seal was in question, you'd have thought it would have come out then. Also read about the Seals and the UDT's, so if in fact they are the same, then what is the issue?

Some people try to be intellectual contrarians and say something to the effect of "You know that Jesse Ventura wasn't really a Navy SEAL? Look it up, he was on a UDT team." without realizing that they both go through the exact same training and that official status as either type of Navy special forces is really just a random pick by a Naval Officer.

Bob Shipley outs people who falsely claim that they were Navy SEALs, so I figure that if he's willing to acknowledge Jesse Ventura as a Navy SEAL then there's no reason why anyone else shouldn't.

I try not to shit on a guy that did military service for our country, but the Ventura hate train can be traced back to his altercation with Chris Kyle. Kyle is the military version of Jesus for hard right wingers, Ventura didn't worship the ground he walked on.

Mostly because Kyle lied like a motherfucker. I've seen rugs that lied less. Proven by records .

Very true. He was a frequent guest on Fox News, and I remember thinking he was full of shit then. Obviously he did a lot, just not all he said.

And anyone who says Ventura is above bullshitting obviously missed his conspiracy-themed show.

Jesse Ventura fascinates me, but I don't think there's a decent biography or autobiography about him.

There's that one really indecent biography of him, "The Jesse Ventura Story".

To me; he's a really inspirational person, who took a trip to crazy town and has never looked back. I won't mention the subjects of some of his more cringe worthy conspiracy theories, but it seems like they're the only thing that make him note-worthy these days.

I didn't say he was above bullshitting, the guy was a professional wrestler after all.

What I did say was he claims to be a former Navy Seal, a fact that can be very easily disproved, so I believe him when he says that. There are records kept to back that up. Oh and I did watch that show of his, wasn't impressed.
