The title seems to have distanced himself from Orton. He's having too much trouble beating current stars now.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Jericho defeat the 3 old guys in Piper, Steamboat and Snuka, as well as beat up old Ric Flair. And then I started wondering where will Jericho go from here now. While the possibilities are endless for Jericho, one idea did run itself across my brain. Why stop with the legend beating. Jericho was incredible at verbally destroying the legends and everything they believed in. It was as real as your going to get and the emotions were running high. Jericho already got this ball rolling the same way Orton did before, by feuding and in the end beating Shawn Michaels. Then Jericho moved on and defeated a bunch of older legends. Now there are currently two real big legends in the WWE that Jericho could try and defeat next, namely HHH and the Undertaker. The draft is in 8 days and a move to SD could be in the works for Jericho.
A feud with HHH, especially for the WWE title, has real beef from the real life comments HHH has made upon Jericho's return. HHH has a plain view that Jericho isn't championship material. HHH in my view does not have really anyone to feud with now that he has destroyed Orton again. Another match with Orton would just seem pointless. A win for Jericho would be huge, but if HHH wouldn't put over Orton I doubt he'd do it for Jericho. Jericho could intervene in a HHH/Undertaker match, putting the title on Taker and then having Jericho beat HHH without a title on the line. Bottom line, even though questions still loom about Jericho's ability to draw, he still needs to be champion. In a time when faces are getting booed and heels are receiving cheers, Jericho has finally mastered his heel persona and gets nothing but boos, something more of WWE's heels need to do.
And then that brings us to Jericho/Undertaker. This match has never happened before and Jericho's said he wants to face the Undertaker. What's more, he'll want to out show Michaels by beating the Undertaker, even if it's not at Wrestlemania. Since this is one of the few match ups the WWE has that they haven't used yet, they should really save it for Summerslam. Have Jericho beat Undertaker and of course have Taker get his revenge as well. It may well be the last money match they have so they should use it well.
So in conclusion, my outlook for Jericho in the next year, have him feud and beat HHH and Undertaker and at some point become and hold the WWE title and face Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania. Shawn deserves to be champion one last time and because he's MR. Wrestlemania, should walk out of his last match there a winner. Contrary to popular demand, a match with HHH would scream, been there, seen this, and HHH kills another sole. Having Michaels overcome Jericho in the end and win the WWE title at Wrestlemania and then retire, like-long awesome Wrestlemania moment. Then, we have a 32-man tourny to crown a new champion. It'll keep everyone guessing.
What are all your thoughts of what Jericho's 2009 will be like?
