I was a witness to a fight between a crazed fan and Chris Jericho after the show on Feb. 7th 2009 in Victoria BC. Chris Jericho was in his white SUV and leaving the arena when a crazed fan started chasing after his car and pounded on the window. Jericho was stuck in traffic and the car came to a stop, and then the fan pulled on the door and it opened! Jericho stopped his car and came out to pose for pics, when suddenly the same fan lunged for him and Chris Jericho threw a punch in self defense! A woman was pushed into Jericho as well and security was pretty lax, but finally they pulled the fan away and Chris was able to get into his SUV and drive safely away. The police arrived shortly after and hopefully arrested the fan for asult. Chris Jericho had taunted the fans in the show saying that he would take on anyone, but this fan took him seriously. Glad that Jericho got away unharmed!!! It was very intense!!!

This is my problem with some (dare I say MANY?) wrestling fans? Some people take this stuff WAY to seriously. I've been to shows where people tried jumping into the ring, others where people were bawling (not crying, but bawling) when a wrestler lost a title, and have seen a fight like this between fans and a wrestler (Hardcore Holly).
Does anyone remember the clip on Jimmy Kimmel where it showed a fan at a wrestling convention and he breaks down crying when he's talking to a wrestler?
Some people take this shit WAY too seriously and stuff like this incident with Jericho is what happens.

Well I've heard about this on other sites too and now it's on the main page so there's obviously a lot of truth to it. Things like this luckily don't happen often, which is good for the fan's sake. Jericho isn't a big guy but I can pretty much guarantee he could take most of the fans there with little to no issue at all. Jericho luckily did the right thing and left immediately which was the smart thing to do. In that case with someone lunging at you, how do you know they don't have a knife on them or in their hand? If it happens fast enough it's possible you couldn't see it coming. I'm glad he got away safely as a fan like that needs some help and I'd bet a fair amount he was drunk.

Having just watched the videos, all I can say is WOW. It looked like Jericho swung at a girl but it's hard to say. He's freaking out with more than just reasoning yelling at security to do their fucking jobs. He looked like he was more than willing to pose for pictures or sign autographs or things like that, but this was insane. Soemone lunged at him and he stopped dead, then the fan came at him again and he snapped. After seeing it, I have no issue at all with what he did. None. It's one thing to want to meet Jericho or shake his hand etc, but that was too far.

The fan who went to open Chris Jericho's door to his car to challenge him because his character during the show that he would take anyone, had no right in hell to go and open Chris Jericho's door. Jericho's just lucky, as KB said, that the fan did not have a knife or anything.

Chris Jericho done the right thing, he was willing to pose for pictures but one fan had to take it further and had to go and stir Jericho up. Obviously Chris Jericho is doing his job as a heel better than anyone else for someone to want to start shit with him outside and fight him.

i couldn't really tell what happened by the video, but it looked like the fan got owned, i hope this is the case. what an idiot. he must be old enough to realise that jericho isnt his character, kane isn't a psycho freak, and vickie isn't married to edge lol.

People like this are ruining the fun and are a more than a bad example for wrestling fans in total. I just hope that this person will be banned from the shows permanently. And as some of you mentionend there really are people that take this way to seriously. I just hope the media won´t take this idiot as an example for other wrestling fans or even blame Jericho for this incident.

It is fans like these that make me ashamed to be a wrestling fan.

Chris Jericho did the right thing. He was in trouble, he was being followed, so he threw a punch in self defence. I haven't seen the video but I read a few articles on it. Following him while he is in his car is just terrible. Couldn't this fan just wave at him or beep at him or something like that? And if I was Jericho, I would have been pretty scared too. Anyone could have came up to him, knocked on his door whilst holding a knife and threatened him.

Luckily this was not the case, but you just don't do that when somebody is in a moving vehicle. This fan makes me laugh though, he actually believed Jericho when he said he would take on anybody in the arena. Seriously, how naive and idiotic can somebody be? The WWE should be more protective of their superstars when they are not inside the arena. Anything bad could happen to them. Do I need to mention the weekend that Chris Benoit had off?

A fan should never lunge at a wrestler, inside or outside arena, heel or face. I'm glad this person was arrested for assault and I'm glad with how Jericho handled the situation. Self defence is very important, and Jericho sure did what was right at the time.

I'm not sure I agree with the sentiments of everyone in this thread. Sure the fan was a complete nutcase but I dont think Jericho should have thrown a punch. Not because the person didn't deserve it, because they did, but because of the 50 or so other innocent people that could have been hurt because of his actions. If you see the video it looks like he punches a girl, which I really hope isn't the case and after seeing the other one it doesn't look like it. But he could have very easily miss cued the punch and hit someone who was only trying to get a picture with him. The reason I say this is because if you look a Jericho he is angry when he throws the punch, that wasn't simply a punch to keep the guy away from him, that was a punch in anger and when you throw your fists around in anger your not in control of how much damage you do to someone. Jericho may not be big but as someone above mentioned he would have had no problem taking out half the crowd, and that's the problem here... Jericho is trained in fighting... it's basically his job (I wouldn't call a wrestling match a fight, but you get the point).

I think it's a messed up situation, and the security were not doing their job properly so Jericho may well have had no choice, but like I said it looked to me as if he threw that punch in anger not in self defense and those are two extremely different things.

So yeah, this is awesome. I assumed it was just the usual type of altercation you hear about. The ones where a fan lashes out and the wrestler ***** them back. But yeah, it looks like Jericho hasn't got thick skin and he hit a woman. I hope she get's compensation and has her roots done.

That's not a girl, if you watch the video again you see the side view of the person and its defiantly a guy.

To put it bluntly, Jericho flipped shit. Both are at fault right now, but I can understand why he did it. Everyone's allowed to have a bad day, but if you're a "name" in the world, you have a bad day and you get crucified for it. Gotta say though, Jericho looks like he's got one hell of a right.

That is fucking hilarious. Fantastic. I was hoping for some controversy. It's been fucking ages since something controversial happened. I mean, before the Benoit incident it was probably Shawn Michaels getting beaten up outside a night club in, like, the nineties. Would've been better the fans rushed him and he had to lay them all out though.

I can only encourage more wrestlers to strike fans. If Kurt Angle ever comes back to HMV, I'm gonna start a fight with him.

Jericho could take them all, or so some people in this thread think. I'm unconvinced that he could take on 10 plus fans. Especially wrestling geeks who've spent a large portion of their life learing martial arts over their Playsation.

Then again he did beat up Goldber, who's MMA record is how many again?

That'd be embarrassing for Jericho. Michaels got beaten up by sailors, I think. I guess all those months at sea make them incredibly tough, or something. But getting beaten up by a dozen or so wrestling fans? Oh man, you'd never live that down.

I can just imagine IC desperately trying to save him.

So I met Alex Shane, and he asked me what I thought of his match one night. I thought it was shit and I told him as such. He told me I had no right to criticise a wrestler when I wasn't one myself. I thought he was going to start a fight with me, I was unconcerned. He's about a yard longer than Jericho and twice as ugly. The moral is that wrestlers aren't scary, except Umaga.

You should have told him his article was shit too. It is.

The first time I saw the Jericho video, it looked to me like Jericho lured the woman in by promising to pose for a photo and then hit her. I thought it was absolutely awesome. I'm annoyed that has since been disproven. Or has it?

It was in 2005. If only I'd known. I would have.

Is it me or is Jericho really handsome? Which leads me to believe is he's some sort of super-stud. One of those cool kids at school who was handsome, good at sport and fighting.

He beat up Goldberg 1-0, beat up a women with silly hair 2-0. All this makes Cena look stronger. Watch Triple H squash him on this weeks Smackdown.

I look forward to A Lion's Tale #2.

Jericho is my new fucking hero. Too bad he is going to to get jobbed out of the ass for this one. Even though he was probably in the right, hitting a cunt, and a bunch of other wrestling fans, is going to be a PR nightmare for the WWE,

Here is another account of the incident with Jericho. This one comes from angrymarks.com:

Several different versions of this Chris Jericho story have surfaced this evening, but the most accurate so far seems to be the one sent by Matt to Figure Four Weekly. There's also a YouTube link to the fight LOCATED HERE until WWE manages to get it pulled. Another video from a different perspective can be FOUND HERE.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what actually happened, as my girlfriend and I were literally 5 feet away from the altercation (the total incident was about 5 minutes) and saw the whole thing happen. Here's what happened (I already had it typed out because I had sent it to another site, so I'll send it to you as well):

This afternoon after the WWE house show in Victoria, my girlfriend and I went to see the wrestlers leave the arena (this was my girlfriend's first WWE event and she wanted to see them leave). The following is exactly what happened right in front of me and about another 50 wrestling fans who happened to be there are well:

Chris Jericho exited the building, and walked over to his white rental vehicle. The crowd watching him leave was heckling him, but he was ignoring it. He gets in his vehicle and drives out of the arena parking lot, right past the crowd of us. As Jericho stops at a stop sign, a fan runs into the street and starts banging on his rental vehicle. At this point about 50 people rush into the middle of the intersection, blocking traffic in several directions, with no police and very inadequate and incompetent security (no WWE security guards period). My girlfriend and I were literally in the very front of the crowd, and this all went down literally five feet away from us.

Chris Jericho opens the door to his vehicle in the middle of the road, and the fan shuts the door back on him. Jericho then gets out of the vehicle completely, and punches the fan in the face! This prompts another fan to jump in (he was friends with the first) and attack Jericho, and Jericho scuffles with the second guy. At this point, a woman who knows the second guy who attacked Jericho starts to jump in and get in Jericho's face (because he was fighting her friend).

This is where the Save on Foods Rent-A-Security Guards stopped standing around watching this happen (I swear they thought they were watching a wrestling angle or something), and stepped in to separate Jericho and the woman, who was shoving him. Looking at Jericho's face he was obviously ready to explode and was restraining himself...but then the shitstorm happened...

He spit in the girl's face, and called her a "fucking bitch". The woman then spit in Jericho's face. Jericho then started cursing out the woman some more, and was getting ready to go back into his vehicle (as all of this is still happening in the middle of the road). While he was turning to go into his vehicle, one of the guys he was fighting shoved Jericho against his car. Another guy then shoved Jericho, and that time he bumped his head on the top of his vehicle. This was where Jericho seriously snapped.

After bumping his head, Jericho went into a shitstorm, throwing and swinging at everybody around him. He knocked one guy to the ground, told another fan that he was going to "fucking kill you". The woman who got spit on was still yelling at Jericho, so he piefaced her away from him (because the arena security couldn't keep them separated). As soon as he put his hands on the woman, ANOTHER fan jumps in and starts swinging at Jericho. Jericho grabs the guy and starts throwing him to the ground, and at this point I have to yank my girlfriend out of the way and into some other people because Jericho had literally thrown himself and the other guy into our direction and we would of been knocked down by the scuffle.

The arena security try again at this point to regain order, and two of them grab Jericho and start yelling at him to calm down, to which Jericho responds by taking a swing at one of the security guards and yelling at them to "do your fucking job and get the fucking police here". Then he shoves the second guard to the ground and tells him to "stay the fuck off me".

Well, as that happens, the chick lunges at Jericho AGAIN, and this time Jericho actually punches the woman in the face, and shoves her to the ground. This stunned everyone, and the girl's friends ended up jumping in trying to fight Jericho, to which he fought all of them off, then storms into his vehicle swearing and speeds off, running through a stop sign in the process.

This whole thing happened over the span of about 5 minutes (of the street being blocked by this ordeal), and the woman ended up calling the cops on Jericho. They arrived 5 minutes after Jericho left, complete with a Paddy Wagon. The WWE's head of security did not see the incident, so he was there trying to figure out what happened along with the cops at the same time while yapping on his cell phone, and the woman is pressing charges against Jericho. As crazy and unbelievable this sounds, it can all be backed up with whatever police report was filed on the scene this afternoon.

I hope this made sense, as a lot of stuff happened. If you have any questions or need clarification, just ask. This was taped by several people with cell phone cameras, but there were only 50 people down there so I hope the video makes it way to the internet. Regardless, this went down as one of the craziest things I have ever seen in my life (even if it didn't involve Chris Jericho), and Jericho could be in some serious legal trouble over this one; although he was provoked, he seriously snapped and crossed the line.

Take care,
Matt

Now the way I was raised if a woman is man enough to try and get into a fight with a man then she is man enough to get hit like one. I also was raised that the only way you involve yourself in a fight (if a family member/friend is involved) is if someone else jumps in and jumps your familymember/friend. Then you jump in and try to help, clearly this was not the case here. Now Jericho should have tried to practice some more restraint and the security should be held accountable too.

A similiar incident happened last year when the wrestler known as Judas Mesias in TNA was being accosted by two guys. They then tried to rob him and his girlfiend, well he beat up one and that guy ran away and his friend got the brunt of Mesias' anger. I always find it funny that people try to fight wrestlers thinking they aren't trained to fight which they are.

I believe Jericho was the one wronged here as people really need to grow up and figure what is reality and what is fake yeesh........

I am sorry to those who think Chris Jericho is in the wrong, regardless if WWE is on television and Chris Jericho has gained celebrity status because of it, it is still Chris Jericho's JOB, as most of us have jobs. The difference is we are not celebrities because of it.

Bottom line to what I am saying is this, if any of us were put in Jericho's position, I can guarantee you would do whatever was necessary to protect yourself. Now would I restrain myself from hitting a woman? Definitely, but I would have taken out my anger from her on her male friends.

So basically Jericho beat up everybody including a couple of security gaurds, well not beat up just punched and floored in anger. I dont blame him either, although his fuse is obviously short I think if anyone is stupid enough to attack a wrestler or whatever then they deserve what they get.

Also the security needed to do their job, if they'd shown more competence then none of it would've happened. Or it might have done but Jericho wouldnt have ended up fighting 5 people or so. As far as hitting the girl well he was obviously pissed and just saw someone lunge at him. Not defending the guy as he can do that himself lol but it was certainly understandable.

And fucking hilarious.

And you've contradicted yourself completely, if you would have restrained yourself then that in your eye's makes Jericho wrong for hitting a woman.

If the account that has been posted is to be believed Jericho is the one that should have been arrested... here's an idea why didn't he just lock his fucking door? Celebrities get chased down the street in their car's everyday and they have the sense to lock their doors... I'm not saying harassing people is right, but some people are idiots and will do it, so why not take precautions and lock the door?

I've had the pleasant opportunity to meet Jericho on two different occassions and he was a very stand up guy. He did autographs, took pictures, joked around, and seemed to enjoy the fan appreciation. It's a shame some douchebag and his dipshit girlfriend had to bring out the ugly in him. But whatever, Jericho can handle himself. GO JERICHO GO! GO JERICHO GO!

Judging by the video the girl totally deserve it cause she charged at Jericho first & put her hands on him before he hit her. I believe he had every right to hit her & the other fan that charged at him cause they were stupid enough to physically provoke him & could have seriously hurt him if he didn't defend himself.

This is not surprising to me in the least, as I have experienced a similar situation first hand.

-When I was at Summerslam, I spotted a familiar person running outside of the arena...it was Punk. So, I approach him, politely ask for his autograph, took a candid picture of him, then he followed by saying that he's not doing pictures as a MOB began to surround him. I got my autograph and scooted because I seriously felt bad for the guy. People were being absolutely rude and still asking him for pictures and stuff after he clearly said that he wasn't doing pictures. There was SOME security there, but they were mainly there to keep people out of the way so wrestlers could drive into the arena when they arrived.

I don't blame Jericho at all. What have we come to as society that we sit and worship these idols simply because they are shoved in our faces by the media and the tabloids. Jericho is obviously not on the cover of the Enquirer, but wrestlers deal with a different kind of fan. But what makes this kind of fan just totally forget that their heroes are actually human beings and not just the cartoon characters they see every week? Is that kayfabe's fault?

Regardless...treat others as you would like to be treated. If you want to be groped and have no kind of privacy...then continue to do this. Otherwise, ask for an autograph, shake the man's hand, then let him go home and be with his family.

Well what the hell was he suppose to do, he was being decent and getting out to take a few pictures, and security failed to do there fucking job when things started getting out of hand, so Jericho handle shit himself, seriously if you are dumb enough to chase down an car, then when the guy inside gets out to pose for a pic with you, and you then try and fuck him up, you deserve to get your ass kicked

I could see Jericho possibly using this to his advantage though, he is a heel suppose be a heel who hates the fans, this only will only add to the heel heat he gets, I could see him mentioning how he beats up fans and shit, that is unless WWE tells him not to mention it in hopes that it just goes away
