January transfer window talk

Lee

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's Supermod!
And the January transfer window is underway as all eyes are on Man City and their 1billion seater stadium.

What are your hopes transfer wise for your team?

Out:

This one is a no brainer, and he's gone but it is Geremi. He's appeared twice for us this season with a wage of £60K a week I am very glad to see him go.

In

Top of the championship is looking good but we seem to be buckling under pressure. Firstly we need another centre back, on top of that I'd like to see right back Danny Simpson's loan move made permanent.

Midfield wise we're good in the middle and the left, but a true right winger would be nice.

Up front we could do with another striker, and maybe put Nile Ranger out on loan for the rest of the season as he does need some full match practice.

Out

No brainer. Gary Caldwell and Glen Loovins. Caldwell has been linked with Middlesborogh. Thank fuck. Loovins is just a terrible player. They have been letting in goals all season and could have very well cost us the title yesterday because of the defense. I also think that Barry Robson and Scott McDonald are on their way out too, although I would like for them to stay.

In

I do not know who I want in, but it would have to be two new center backs. Can't keep leaking goals like this. I am sure through we could rely on the reserves till the end of the season. They win that league every year so I do not see the harm in giving them a run out if the title is as over as it looks.

I too, want to see what Man Cit will do. But I feel they will leave it till Summer. There is a longer time for them to negotiate.

I've heard rumours about Rudd Van Nistelrooy. Liverpool are after him but apparently Pulis is trying to lure him with the promise of first team football, which is an obvious lie, Pulis would make him work for his first start. Intresting anyway and in reality probably the better choice for him. Won't happen though.

I don't really read the rumours about Stoke, not really that intrested to be honest. Last year we did alright with Etherington & Beattie, but as a whole I don't know who half the players we're linked to are. I have heard of Joe Ledley, but six million for a championship player seems too much.

Beattie will be gone, but he's underperformed this season and for the last three months of the previous season as well. But selling him to another Premiership team would probably be a bite on the bottom. Also to leave are those impuls buys from 18 months ago, Tongue, Soares....Kitson and some of the other cast member who don't play a role.

I think that Rudd Van Nistelrooy should go to Liverpool. He is not getting first team football at Madrid, and Liverpool sorely need him. He is one of the best strikers in the world, but Torres is very injury prone. I know he sucked, but selling Keane has now come back to bite them in the ass.

I feel that Keane might well be on his way out of Spurs. And I have a sneaky feeling Bellamy might leave Man City for a rumored Arsenal.

I see that you are a Celtic fan too, Billie. Too bad you cannot spell the names of our own players too well. Nevertheless, Celtic are sure to be linked to hundreds of players during the transfer window. Ranging from the possible to the fucking insane. Nevertheless, here are some of the names.

Out:

Gary Caldwell looks to be on his way out of the door with Gordon Strachan looking to take him to Middlesbrough, along with Scoot McDonald and Barry Robson. I wouldn't like to see them leave at this stage but I could understand if they, with the exception that Mowbray has to get some better players in. Glenn Loovens loos set to go too along with Stephen McManus. If those rumours are to be believed then we literally have no centre-backs and Mowbray will need to get his finger out of his ass.

In:

I have read that Matt Killgallon will be joining Celtic but I have no idea how much truth there is to that, to be honest. I also hear that he is being linked with Newcastle, so that might be a flyer. I have also heard rumours of both Robbie Keane and Anthony Stokes joining Celtic in the January Transfer Market and I would happily accept either of them, if they first manage to get some defenders in.

Out

If anything, I'd say that we seriously need to get rid of Senderos, I really don't know how he's lasted so long. I haven't been able to keep up with most of the current squad and match play, but I think he should be on his way out.

In
Essentually, we need a striker and a central defender. Chamakh keeps coming up, he did a lot this time last year and I think he's 50/50 to join, but we do need a creative mind to cover when RVP gets injured. We need a good central defender to cover for Gallas really, Vermalaen has been superb but naturally I would like a solid backup, I'd welcome Matthew Upson if West Ham sell him. I think midfield we're covered but we need back up for the defence and strikers.

I feel that Keane might well be on his way out of Spurs. And I have a sneaky feeling Bellamy might leave Man City for a rumored Arsenal.

No way in hell would Wenger or the fans accept Craig Bellamy, he's a troublemaker and Wenger has been spending alot of time removing them from the current squad.

A lot of the players in australia are looking to play overseas because the A-leauge season finishes in march meaning theres a 3 month period where they wont play and their chances of getting picked for the world cup team are slim.

OUT Lloyd Owusu

He was signed in May last year as our marquee player. But just before the season starts he's struck with Swine Flu. This puts us in a situation where we cant start the season with our marquee player because he's sick. Since he started playing for Adelaide United He's scored 1 goal. With him being a striker that's a horrible effort . He's missed so many chances right in front of goal its sad. Now he's been demoted and is playing with the Youth Team (Baby Reds)

He's been linked with a team in china. Whethere he will go or not is the question?

IN Adelaide United hasn't even publicly stated whether or not they're going to import players from overseas this year or look for local talent so I cant really comment on that one.

Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan will offer £1.5m for Celtic trio Gary Caldwell, Barry Robson and Willo Flood before launching a bid for Rangers striker Kris Boyd.

Celtic are lining up a loan move for Stoke striker Dave Kitson, who has just completed a temporary spell at Middlesbrough.

Wigan are to rekindle their interest in Celtic striker Scott McDonald, with the Glasgow club seeking a fee in the region of £5m.

This is is really "up and down news", to be honest. The fact that Gordon Strachan keeps being linked to players doesn't worry me, it's that it is happening so freely. I don't expect Tony Mowbray to come out and turn down every one of the rumours that have been said but I would like some assurances that he is not going to sell some of our best players for tiny fees. Given that we signed all Caldwell, Flood and Robson for nominal fees, I have no idea why I feel it is a disgrace to be given £1.5 million pounds for all of them. Gary Caldwell is probably worth that buy himself and Barry Robson is a phenomenal worker and a player that is growing on me more and more. I don't really care about Flood though. They can take him for free, if they like. That being said, I would definitely like some more wages freed up for new players coming in. With Flood, Caldwell and Robson seemingly on the way out, I hope that we can get in a few more players without the hazard of wages arising.

However, we are again linked with more strikers that really do nothing to help us, in all honesty. Sure, we have been slightly goal-shy over the last few weeks but if we are planning to offload a lot of our defenders, we need to make sure that we are bringing people to replace them and not focusing on positions that we have some depth in. Dave Kitson may or may not be a good choice and we might find out how much truth there is to this. However, I would not like to lose Scott McDonald for Dave Kitson. £5 million is a good fee for someone that we got on a bosman so I am pleased with that.

Out
Beckford looks like he is off to Newcastle, hopefully we will get more than 1.5 million for him. Good or bad thing? I'd say bad I like Grella but I dont think he can step up into his shoes and score 20-30 goals a season. I hope we get rid of the deadweight Tresor Kandol and Enoch Showumni.

In
Hopefully Max (Wesley Snipes) Gradel, we have got him on loan till 17th January I hope we can persuade Leicester to part with him. If Beckford goes we need a striker, I could probably see someone like Freddy Eastwood coming in. We were linked with David Healy again but I don't want him back he is too old now. We need a new left back as well as Andy Hughes is shit.

For the team I support... Liverpool
Out
Degan, Dossena, Voronin, Babel
Have a mini clear out to fund a half decent transfer. Maybe get rid of a few more fringe players

In
Van Nestlerooy, Maxi Rodreguez,

And for the mighty Colchester United... I'd love for us to get Kevin Lisbie on a permanent deal from Ipswich as he has been immense this season

Liverpool fan here

Out
well Dossena is already out of anfield for £4.25m, and Voronin's gone for a shade under £2m, Babel has said he wants to stay, but expect him to be going if we get a bid of £10m or above

In
Maxi Rodriguez is just about finalised (hes just waiting to get a loyalty payment from Atletico)

Names we've been linked with;
Nedum Onuoha - with us suffering a few defensive injuries over the course of the season, i would welcome this 6-month loan signing, but i think he isnt too far down to pecking order at city, so cant see us signing him until they buy someone in.

Kenwyne Jones - too many clubs in for him, and to spend 10m+ on a backup striker considering our budget isnt going to happen, a rumoured swap for Babel may be better for us

Jeremy Menez - A rumoured 6 month loan with a £7.5m deal in the summer, a good young player who is very versatile would be a good signing for us, with benayoun not getting any younger, Menez would be an ideal replacement.

Marouane Chamakh - we are seemingly one of a number of clubs looking at this player, if we can get him, would be a very good signing on a free transfer as he can also play in a few positions and would be a good deputy for Torres

DONE DEAL
NEWCASTLE United have completed the permanent signing of Danny Simpson for an undisclosed fee from Manchester United.

The 23-year-old has been on loan at St.James' Park since August of last year and has impressed during his 22 appearances this season.

Simpson pens a three-and-a-half-year deal with The Magpies and will continue to wear the No.12 jersey.

Manager Chris Hughton told nufc.co.uk: "We're delighted to complete a permanent deal for Danny.

"He's a player who has been with us since the summer and has played a key role during the first half of the season.

"Danny is a very popular lad in the dressing room and he took no time at all to settle in.

"He was always a player we wanted to keep at the club and he was very keen to stay given how much he's enjoyed his time here."

Thank fuck for that, this season Simpson has played a pivotal role with Taylor, Coloccini and Enrique in defence. They've only let in 16 out of 25 games. That is one thing that was lacking last season: stability in that area. What's also cool to note is that Simpson is only 23, as well as Enrique and Taylor whilst Coloccini's the old man of defence at 27 it's a young back four that have done great in the championship, time will tell for the long term!

Yeah I have to say that your defence is looking good for the future, I've always been a fan of Taylor, Simpson looks good as does Enrique after an awful season last year.

Another two for us.

Mike Williamson, centre back, 6'2 from Portsmouth. Know nothing about him, but it does give back up in defence which is needed 100%. I guess time will tell.

Wayne Routledge, this came out of nowhere and I'm surprised by the signing. Again I don't know too much about him but a right winger is something we need just for the right backs to feed to.

Now a striker and a left back would be nice!

I think you should save your money unless you're covering for potential injuries. You seem to be doing well with the team you have. Not that I've been paying too much attention.

So far nothing intresting has happened in this transfer window.

Yeah well the Portsmouth guy was needed (Steven Taylors likely out for the rest of the season) and right wing wise we have no one in that position. You are right things have been allright, but we've only won once in six games and a boost is definitely needed.

I think Newcastle did well by signing Simpson. As a Man Utd fan, hes always struck me as someone who can develop into a decent premier league defender. But with Rafael in the team, I suppose Simpson's potential at Man Utd was always going to be limited, so it's good business all around I suppose.

On another note, we've just confirmed the signing of Chris Smalling from Fulham for next season. To be honest I don't really know too much about him apart from that he is young and Arsenal were interested in him, so it must be worth a shot. I know thats not gripping news but that seems to be all thats going to happen concerning Man Utd this month. This hasn't exactly been the most exciting transfer window ever.

Two loan defenders are in.

0,,10278~8316331,00.jpg

First of all from QPR 29 year old Full back 'One size' Fitz Hall, who seems another guy that we need at the back as back up for injuries that are mounting.

0,,10278~8316915,00.jpg

Secondly 19 year old left back Patrick Van Aanholt who is on a months loan as cover for Jose Enrique who is out for a month. I don't know much about him other than that he officially plays for Chelsea and has been out on loan to Coventry this season.

I really like how we've gone about this transfer window, getting in players we need rather than big huge signings. Should be better in the long run (see Michael Owen as an example). Just need a striker with rumours of Victor Moses and James Vaughn being batted round, I guess we'll see.
