It's kind of sad that Sega themselves can't make a good 3D Sonic game, but fans can.

Sonic Robo Blast 2 is as close to a good 3D Sonic game as we're going to get, I'd think. It's a ton of fun, though Sonic is sort of hard to control and sometimes the camera is wonky. The most important part of the game is how fast it is. It really captures the speed of the old games, and there are some great zones in it, coupled with great music. It's still in development and has been for a long time now, but it's still awesome.

I don't have a controller, so it makes the game a total bitch to play on my crap keyboard. However, it isn't that bad, outside of the poor graphics.

I never saw the point in Sonic. Run real fast and get coins, then jump on Dr. Robotnik at the end.

Mario is considered the most important game ever.
