Recently with the return of Brock Lesnar the WWE has been getting some more mainstream attention from newspapers and MMA websites. This may have resulted in a couple of MMA fans tuning into the WWE to see how their favorite fighter is doing and most importantly what he's doing. Lesnar may have lost but that isn't a completely unfixable issue. The problem is if the viewers that made the crossover are going to stay tuned for next week when Lesnar isn't around.
There were rumours that Shane and Stephanie were pushing hard for Vince to see the threat that the UFC imposed on the WWE. Paul Heyman backed that statement up in meetings but Vince maybe because of a lack of knowledge and interest completely ignored it and let the UFC grow.
There was a time when Shane or the WWE decided to buy an MMA company. It eventualy didnt went through but think for a sec. What if Vince bought the company and saw the threat off the UFC? I'm certain that with his skills and network Vince would have crushed the UFC and controlled the MMA market as well.
That beggs the question.. I things continue as they are and the MMA gets more mainstream and popular just like wrestling was back in the 80's 90's ( mainstream.. Dunno but at least popular) will Vince buy an MMA company or start his own? Certainly with his power and inteligence Vince could do it. If pushed far enough.
When Lesnar returned there were a lot of questions unanswered.
For a guy like Vince Mcmahon who has repeatedly ignordd the rise of the UFC to bring in a top dog from their side over to the WWE must mean that Vince has seen the threat that the UFC poses to the WWE. The fact is that WWE PPV's have been declining for years and the UFC has seen a major rise in their PPV's. Coincidence?
WWE mentioning UFC within the WWE world. This may seem like it's not a big deal but think about it. Why on earth would Vince mention a potential rival company ( in viewers) on his ground for no reason? For a guy like Vince there has to be some sort of plan. Just look at TNA when did they ever get a mention on live TV. There were a couple of rumours of maybe Tito Ortiz joining the WWE.
