Is the next Jake Roberts on a current rooster?

[P]So we recently heard that Jake Roberts is in good shape and wants another run. Most people would agree he is 1 of if not the best wrestlers never to hold the big gold belt. Just check out some other forums if you disagree. [/P]

[P]This got me thinking about who is the future almost got there guy. Now for this discussion i will only be talking about the WWE TITLE. Lets face it the TNA belts are a joke, same for the WHT..

OK now my picks.. I have 2 guys that i think will never get there but should.

1 Dolph Ziggler I love his work but think he is getting mixed up in the most stupid feuds. But i think his health will keep him out of the big main events.. No reason to think this, i just do.


2 James Storm. I can see him getting in the WWE he is everything they like except SIZE. When he does get in the WWE, He will be a great wrestler but will not get the big push because of the rush of smaller wrestlers in the main events right now. We all know the WWE has a big guy fixation and with all the Punks and Byrans out there now he might be held down just enough to not get the big belt.. Again this is just the way i think it might happen.

James Storm who is not on the CURRENT roster.
That leaves open a shit ton of fantasy ideas of who we could add here.
Fact is James Storm is 36 years old. If the WWE was going to bring him over odds are they would have done it by now. He isn't a big enough name to give a major push to upon his arrival and he's at that too old stage to develop.

For people on the CURRENT roster who may deserve a run with the WWE title but won't get it?
That's kind of hard to say.
At one point you could have said Wade Barrett but he has shown over time that he's just not a top guy.
It's hard to say what young guy could be that person because they are still developing and who knows where their career could go.

I didn't know there was a rooster to currently be on.

If we are talking about the WWE Championship, there are several on the list I think should be top tier kind of guys, but not secure the gold. Wade Barret instantly comes to mind. So does R-Truth. I wouldn't mind seeing Kofi capture the gold years from now, but as I live in the present that's highly unlikely.

I don't really keep up with TNA. Year or so ago I would have said The Pope. So far, I'm still right.

That being said I stand by my point on James Storm.

Plus Jake Roberts never held a single title in the WWE. James Storm and Dolph Ziggler on the other hand are former World Champs with very stacked resumes'.

Obviously at the moment Wyatt is the guy that is closest to a Jake Roberts. Not in fantastic shape but has a very devious, sadistic and controlling mind, and wrestles with good psychology ie not just doing moves but knowing how to plug the gap in between. But in many ways Bray Wyatt has already exceeded Jake Roberts' accomplishment so it's not really worth the comparison.

Reading the question, though, I see you're talking more about and almost over guy as opposed to one that fits in with his character. In that case I'm going with Ziggler as well.

Why is the TNA world title a joke compared to the WWE one?

OMG a damn typo. Really I have seen my share on these forums and for some reason I get the business about it. Granted it is a funny typo but still. This was supposed to be a discussion about the possibility of certain wrestlers never getting the WWE title after being pushed several times IE Jake Roberts was. Now I dont care if someone held a WHC or whatever other belt. Also for the record Jake did hold a belt in his career not in the WWE but that not my point.

I agree with Wade Barrett being considered. Now I know his career is far from over and it is likely that he might get the gold. but this whole topic is a hypothetical.

Now lets be serious about the TNA title. It isn't worth comparing to the WWE title right now. They are obviously on different levels.

Also i dont mind if the discussion turns into the character type IE Bray Wyatt. He does have a similar evil smile thing happening.

Guys like Jake Roberts and Ted Dibiase didn't need the WWE Championship to have a relevant career. Guys like Ziggler and Barrett haven't achieved that level of success.
