Is John Cena A Bully?

I got this article from Lords of Pain and its Michael Tarver talking about John Cena injuring him on purpose.

His side of the story about John Cena purposely injuring him with a chair:

"That night, David Otunga and I knew that we were taking chair shots and we knew when we were taking them, something of that magnitude can be dangerous and we were prepared for it. I had my reservations about it because on an independent show in 2005, a guy I was working with hurt me pretty bad with a chair, hitting me in the back of the head and necking leading to me being temporally unconscious and paralyzed for 45 minutes so I had reservations about taking chair shots. (During the segment), I look over and see David Otunga taking his shot and it sounded like it was a lot harder than it show have been so as I prepared for mine, I felt it and it felt like he was trying to swing for a home run so I dropped out and I wasn’t selling it because I was legit hurt. As I’m laying there, I see David Otunga taking multiple chair shots, more than the one that we were told we were taking so when I saw that I decided to get out of there because I was thinking about what happened in 2005 and when I get up, I see part of a chair swinging towards me and I put my left arm up to protect myself.

"Now before I continue, when you are in a situation like that in pro wrestling/sports entertainment and you know there is something that dangerous planned, there is no reason for you to have to protect yourself in that way from being legitimate hurt. There is a reason to protect yourself in a match to get that part over but to protect yourself like if you were getting shot at is something different. I’m not trying to say Cena was trying to maliciously hurt me, I’m just saying he wasn’t being very careful. So when he swung the chair, and I put my arm up to project myself, the point of the chair caught my left arm and immediately felt bones crack and knew something was seriously wrong so I ran because I wasn’t going to take another shot as I knew I couldn’t protect myself.

"I get backstage and its customary being a rookie, being as it is entertainment and we work together, for you to shake hands and thank the person, especially someone like John Cena, to shake his hand and thank him for that experience because he didn’t have to work with me or any of us for that matter. I’m in the back and I’m kicking all the trash cans and I’m angry and I’m trying not to yell because I didn’t want to lose my job. As he came back, I put my hand out and said “Thank You” and he just looked at me and walked past and of course I was even more angry. He made it about five more steps, looked over his shoulder, laughed and said “How’s the arm?” and I said “It’s fine” and he laughed again and walked off."

So what do you guys think? Is Cena a bully? Is Cena a RACIST? Or is Tarver simply lying? Discuss.

i dont think cena is a bully or a racist i think tarver was just trying to make people talk about him again as he was never really talked about during his run with wwe minus when he debuted with the rest of the nxt rookies as nexus but thts just what i think

I think Tarver is just angry over the injury. Granted, we hear reports sometimes about faces, the supposed nice guys not wanting to put people over, but Cena has never to my knowledge done that. If he has no ill feelings towards his coworkers, he certainly wouldn't jeopardize a guy's career, not to mention his own, by intentionally injuring somebody.

I don't blame cena at all for saying what he said... that's how it works. tarver shouldve just taken the shot to the back... it wouldn't have been near as bad and cena knows that and cena knows tarver made a mistake by putting his arm up. So by cena making that remark he wasnt being a bully he was simply laughing at the fact that he knew tarver shouldve known better then to try and block it with his arm.

What a load of bullshit. Tarver got released and is pissed off with the company so he targets the major face of the corporation. John Cena is far from a bully, Michael Tarver is just pissed off about getting fired and is telling these stories to keep his name out there. I doubt that any of this is true and I would need to hear it from a real source (LoP isn't something I trust). A guy that does so much for the Make a Wish foundation isn't going to be a racist. Michael Tarver needs to go away and stay there. Nobody cares about Tarver, he is gone and thank goodness he is.

And I doubt someone who has put so many people over in his career (Edge, Miz, Nexus, CM Punk) is going to be a bully to anyone. John Cena seems to be a nice and friendly guy from what other WWE superstars have said.

Really? Really?? Tarver messed up a spot, so Cena was a little hostile. Veterans being "bullies" to rookies isn't new.

Wait Micheal Tarver is alive I thought he was dead.Come on who is going to believe this shit he is a nobody trying to be a somebody by doing what ever it takes.Cena is a guy that respects the business and wouldn't tarnish the name of the business by doing this.

Tarver didnt take the shot to the back because he noticed all the extra chair shots being dished out. When you're in the wrestling business and you notice someone might have the slightest intention to hurt you, the smart thing to do is walk away and live to fight another day. Remember Bruiser Brody?
--------------------------------------------------------

Cena shouldnt have been a dick about it, especially after his little impromptu chair shots. This doesnt surprise me, the older guys always think they need to hurt the younger guys. Its kind of like breaking them in.

There is no way this is true. Wrestling is a contact sport, you are going to get hurt. Its a steel chair, what did he expect would happen? A human's body is not supposed to be hit with steel chairs (or any chair for that matter), so an injury shouldn't be suprising. Cena never meant to hurt him, he did it by accident. Tarver is just being stupid.

Call me crazy but during the last 4 years that I've watched Cena, the only people that I saw whom Cena seemed to have a real problem with were the Nexus, and I think most of it returns to The original Nexus attack they did.

I mean even Tarver hasn't talked about how Cena was warned about the attack. I remember they put the springs which hold the canvas out of function and then proceeded to attack Cena on that. It might have hurt Cena in a really bad way I guess.

With exception of Otunga most of them either got released or were sent to SD ASAP. So again, call me crazy but I really think Cena was really pissed off at them after that first night. I remember last year's MITB ppv where Cena threw the steel steps at Tarver in a really scary way, and he delivered one of the harshest AAs ever on Barrett TLC.

Coming up with this story is the most interesting and creative thing Tarver has ever done. Talk about too little, too late. John Cena bores me. But if I had to write a short list of people that bore me more than Cean -- Tarver would make it.

Its a steel chair, what did he expect would happen?

I think I can answer this he thought rainbows were going to come out.He also thought he was going to get hit with flowers and sunshine .Man Micheal Tarver has nothing better to do than bash the face of the company.

It's a known fact that there are times when a wrestler gives someone else a little more extra oomph than they normally would. Usually to a rookie. I could see Cena doing it. No, he wasn't trying to hurt him, more like giving him a lesson that he had to pay his dues first in the company. So if that meant harder chair shots, so be it.

No one better disagree with me because like it or not it's very true.

Well it sounds to me it was tarvers fault, cena is a veteran and he would not do something like this...
So just because Cena has more years in the business that means hes not capable of being unprofessional? Assuming that this is all true, Cena is the ideal person to pull something like this. Hes the only person in the back besides Orton who could get away with anything he damn well pleases. Bob Holly was also a veteran and he was disciplined various times for being too rough on the younger talent.

Cena is capable of making a mistake. Yes he does have a lot of power in the back but he would never do something like this. Holly was just a jackass and was a VERY stiff worker. Cena is not a jackass and doesn't seem to stiff (Maybe he does, I don't know) people a lot or at least as much as Holly did. Its a steel chair, STEEL. Your not supposed to get hit with steel, so when you do, your body will react in a FUCKING OW kind of way. Just because some people don't like Cena, doesn't mean Cena is an asshole. Cena is very professional, he would never do something like this. Vince would not allow someone to go out there and hurt people on purpose.

WADE BARRET also stated in a interview for the UK that personally .................(he said it in a honest manner-if he was kidding than that was good acting)
he does not like CENA as a person, he didn't explain but he just said.

Wade Barrett just seems like an a**hole in general. Have you seen his Twitter? He just comes off as a pompous ass and if he's in character THERE, then he can be billed as a good actor.

hahahah Tarver got off easy. Veterans being harsh on rookies is nothing new. Hogan had his leg broken on purpose his first day of training because Hiro Matsuda wanted to see if Hogan would come back. If Cena did it on purpose kudos to Cena...if it was an accident Tarver is a grown man crying over spilled milk.

Having checked out the incident in question (Night of Champions 2010), I have to say that none of Cena's shots looked as hard as many unprotected head shots that have occurred over the years and, although the angle isn't 100% conclusive, the shot he blocked with his arm does not appear to be a Hardy.

I think Mr Tarver should have realised that somethings in professional wrestling still, you know, hurt!!

For his benefit, here is a section from an article in Brit Wrestling Mag FSM celebrating the life of Randy Savage...
"The first time I locked up with Randy at a house show,it was like dancing" DDP recalled. "He was so soft and so smooth (in the ring). He'd barely take your arm, and barely hit you - it was amazing. I was like, 'Oh my God, no wonder this cat's been around so long!'. I could barely feel it." Page wondered whether the wrestlers who complained about Savage's stiff work had just gone soft themselves, but he quickly came to understand the difference.
"When I first wrestled Randy, there were no cameras on," he said. "The first time he hit me when the cameras were on - Wham! I saw a big blue flash. Then I got it. Okay, cameras off: we go easy. Cameras on: shit's on!"

The angle here was that Nexus had screwed Cena into being defeated by Barrett and were about to cause Orton to do the same, when a recovered and pissed (kayfabe) Cena made the save. If Cena was pissed (reality) at Tarver, it was probably because John realised that he had hurt him but wouldn't have if Tarver hadn't put his arm in the firing line - a second flat back shot might have stung but it wouldn't have caused any lasting damage. Someone should send him the video of Rock whalin on a handcuffed Foley's unprotected head, maybe he'll gain a little perspective then and be grateful that he worked in the company at a safer stage in history!

Wade Barrett doesn't completely break kayfabe. He alway appears to be insulting the people who he's supposed to be at odds with. He's just doing what he should do.

Tarver on the other hand is a talentless moron who is too stupid to know what's good for him. He's burned his bridges with the WWE and I doubt any other wrestling company will want to touch a guy who makes these kinds of unfounded statements. I don't Ring of Honor or TNA will want to risk having this idiot bad mouth them in the press. He's done.

I think this thing with Cena and Tarver is the same thing that was going on with JBL and The Miz back when Miz first came in. Cena probably doesn't have anything against Tarver.. He was just treating him like that and hazing him to see how Tarver does. I can't honestly see someone like Cena being a dick in real life he's made over 200 wishes to the Make A Wish Foundation. Plus he's always busting his ass off for the fans.

It's just the way all the newbies start. They get hazed in the locker room to see how they do so it's all just a test really.. At least that's how JBL put it in a recent interview.

really.

just because cena donates charity which frankly is most likely for good publicity doesnt mean hes not a dick in real life. and the same goes for each and everyone on the roster.

none of us know what happens behind the scenes. batista was suppsosed to a be charity guy too. what does he do. he criticizes guys in his own company, bashes tna and has a fistfight with booker t.

for all we know cena is a dick backstage. hell i act like an ass sometimes but at the same time volunteer at a childrens hospital on weekends. doesnt mean i cant be a dick sometimes. and once again same goes for all the guys backstage.

ortons supposed to be the face of smackdown. we all saw the way he spoke abt kelly kelly. true or not that was a pretty ******** thing to say.

y is cena any different. because he fulfills wishes. newsflash. hes a celebrity. its whats expected of them. especially when theyre supposed to be heroes to kids.

cena may have hit tarver and tarver did speak about it. tarver probably isnt lying but at the same time i dont care if he is. y. because cena is acting like people do. a person cannot be goody goody all the time. a person can be a dick sometimes and we shouldnt hold it against them.
