I just had a serious nerdgasm. Iron Patriot.

Unfortunately, it's not a delusional Norman Osbourne under there, but some weird cyborg guy I've never heard of called Coldblood-7. Still, the potential for this character is insane: a villain masquerading as a hero. Sexy.

1: Pet Peeve on the Osborn thing, sorry.
2: Who?
3: I was certain they'd head that direction if they ever did the Wizard in anjy of the Marvel franchises, particularly the FF.

1) I'm deeply ashamed.

2) No idea. Here's his Marvel Wikia entry: http://marvel.wikia.com/Eric_Savin_(Earth-616)

Warning: It's horribly written.

3) The Wizard masquerading as a hero? That dude is far too out there to be viewed as a hero, not to mention I don't think he has any interest in being viewed as a hero. He's also fairly B-list for a Marvel movie villain, but then again, so are most Iron Man villains so far.

Have you ever seen that episode of the 2006 Fantastic Four animated series where the Frightful Four were masquerading as heroes? That worked out pretty well and could come across as a different, more personal battle. Of course, that'd be more FF centric.

No, but I did read the comic where The Wizard and three other villains team up, but I don't think they called themselves the Frightful Four, they were just being assholes.

I'm hoping they reboot the Fantastic Four as they were really were a revolutionary series and will always be great, but I have my doubts that Hollywood will ever be able to do them well. Unlike Wolverine, Iron Man, or even Spidey, there's really no edge to the Fantastic Four.

As per a number of sites:

Latino Review debunked the rumor by saying it wasn’t until they saw Don Cheadle on set that they realized that the suit was not that of Iron Patriot but of the War Machine with a new paint job. As for the so-called actor sighting? It wasn’t Dale but was a stunt man giving Cheadle a break. Apparently, the newly painted War Machine is also named Iron Patriot in the film but it’s not the Iron Patriot from the Dark Avengers. The scene in which the suit was caught on film had Tony Stark surrounded by some military personnel and is being described as the unveiling of the new suit.
