Inserting History

The ONLY Franchise
I chose to put this in the Spam Zone because at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. This is just something I want some opinions on.

I just finished watching the post-Chamber Chris Jericho rant, and he asks CM Punk how he could call himself Champion when Jericho wasn't even eliminated from the match. The World Heavyweight Championship Scramble Match from Unforgiven 2008 immediately popped in my head. As we all know, World Champion CM Punk was attacked by Legacy and received a punt from Randy Orton, leaving him unable to defend his title in the Scramble Match. Chris Jericho, who had already lost to Shawn Michaels earlier in the night, took Punk's vacant spot and became the World Heavyweight Champion.

Over the years, WWE has often rewritten history or just plain ignored events that have taken place (having Daniel Bryan say he will be the first Money in the Bank winner ever to reveal exactly when he'll cash in is the only thing that comes to mind right now). That being said, I love when wrestlers reference past events in their feuds. CM Punk referenced the exact same night in his feud with Randy Orton last year. Since Jericho will most certainly repeat his rant tomorrow on Raw (or sometime before Mania), I think Punk should once again bring up the unfortunate occurences at Unforgiven 2008...the night he never lost his title, but it was taken away from him by Chris Jericho.

I know this feud is about Jericho's frustration with Punk's supposed plagiarism, but since he's ranting about never losing, why can't Punk throw it right back in his face? Like I said, it doesn't really matter. I just thought I'd throw in something to add to the realism of the feud.

Thanks for reading, and as always, get over yourselves and enjoy some wrestling.

Jericho had a cage match rematch with Punk either the night after or the next week and won, thereby legitimizing himself as champion.

Also, hypocrisy is a good trait to have for a heel. And this isn't the only thing Jericho's a hypocrite about. His entire shtick is that everyone is copying him, when he, himself, could be considered a copy of luchadores and Japanese wrestlers, although he's long since transcended that.

I guess that rematch has been wiped from my memory. Thanks for bringing it up. And I didn't mean that the hypocrisy wasn't a good thing, but that Punk could use it against him. Now that I think about it, saying "Well you did this to me first" is kind of childish (heelish in the wrestling world), so it wouldn't make sense for Punk to do it anyway.

Case closed I guess.
