Occasional Pre-Show
With all of these reports stating "He'll be there", "He'll won't be there", "He'd like to be there", etc., The Rock's Wrestlemania status is pretty unknown at this point. But throw out all of the reports and everything and state your own personal opinion on how he'll be involved at Wrestlemania. I've listed choices above in the poll, but feel free to explain more.

IMO, from most likely to least likely from my poll, it would be 4, 5, 3, 2, 1. So 4 would be my choice. They could at least have him cut a pre-taped promo so we can get our little fix from The Great One at WMXXXI. Won't take him long to do that.

if i was a betting man i would bet on the following legends/big names wrestling at mania31:

Definetly:
The Rock
Sting
Triple H
Brock lesnar

The potentials:
Taker
Kurt angle
Hulk hogan (tag match only)
Y2J

Low possibility to no chance:
Stone Cold steve austin
HBK
CM PUNK

Rock will wrestle he missed last year but still made the effort for the promo, i don think we wll get brock vs rock i think he will do a program with triple H or roman reigns.

If the reports on The Rock from today & from last week are true, the odds are he won't even be at WrestleMania XXXI. Fast & Furious 7 hits theaters 5 days after WrestleMania, which means The Rock will be spending heavily promoting the film and hyping it in the weeks leading up to the premiere. Earlier today, it was announced that he'll be in a buddy comedy with Chris Hart that's due to start filming right smack in the middle of WrestleMania season.

As far as Kurt Angle, he won't be appearing at WrestleMania as he's either fully expected to or already has signed a new deal with TNA. Reportedly, WWE offered Angle a full time deal but Angle wasn't physically up to it. That makes me think, and it's just a guess on my part, that they weren't all that interested in Angle returning anyhow and made a token offer that they knew he'd turn down because they know as well as anyone that his body can't take the strain of a full time schedule. So if he does sign or already has signed with TNA, he won't be at WrestleMania XXXI.

As far as Hogan goes, it's highly unlikely he'll ever wrestle in WWE in any sort of match. Hulk Hogan has said, yet again, that he's currently training for an in-ring return but even if he is, it doesn't mean squat if he can't pass the WWE's physical. WWE has very, very strict physicals for talent, especially talent over the age of 45 that was put into effect since Jerry Lawler had a heart attack smack in the middle of a tag team match. When Hogan signed with WWE, he underwent the barrage of medical exams WWE puts all talent through, so that leads me to think that they were thinking of putting him in a wrestling role at some point. However, while we obviously don't know the particulars of the exam, Hogan didn't pass and as a result hasn't been allowed to anything physical whatsoever. Hogan may well be part of the event somehow, but I see almost no chance of him wrestling.

As for Brock Lesnar, unless he suffers some sort of injury, he's contractually obligated to be at WrestleMania XXXI. If the various reports from the past few months are true, he's expected to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the event.

All of the other guesses I think are probably pretty spot on.

I would like him to show up just to cut a promo at least. Maybe like what he did to Rusev on raw? that would be pretty cool. It can even elevate another star.

Rock coming back to face Brock in the headliner would be the biggest possible match they could put together for the event. Purest can hate all they want on two part-timers taking the spotlight but this match would garner major attention for the event. A match against Triple H would be very nice for nostalgia reasoning but I am not sure it moves the views without another blockbuster on the card.

With all the recent reports it looks as if Rock will have very little to no time available to make a commitment to build a worthwhile program with any opponent(s). If this is the case I say the E saves the money they would need for an appearance fee and let Rock sit this one out. They had that nice feel good moment with the three kings at WMXXX and no need to try an attempt at repeating it just a year later. The E can reach out to a number of other legendary names, likely at a much cheaper price, to sort of fill his shoes.

WWE needs to be careful, though. While they will get a lot from ticket sales, the fact is most people who are going to watch WrestleMania are either going to do so on the Network, the Netpak, or likely try and stream it for free. I'd cut down on all the high-priced part timers. Hell, Brock's cheque alone would probably offset the difference. I'm all for seeing the Rock but if they do then we probably won't see anyone else except for this year's HoF class.

Rock will face Triple H at one of the next two Wrestlemanias. I have no doubt that is why they had that exchange on Smackdown. I guess it depends on what happens in the Survivor Series main event. Originally I thought perhaps Rock would be the mystery 5th partner for Team Cena, sadly it looks like it will be Ryback :(

Regarding FF7 - Rock can still heavily promote the film before WM and directly after, in fact the timing is near perfect.

I think the fact that Fast and Furious hits theaters 5 days after Wrestlemania makes it even MORE likely that The Rock appears in some capacity tbh. If we're talking about promoting something... what's a bigger stage than Wrestlemania? Having The Rock in a live segment at Wrestlemania would bring massive exposure to the film (or so I would think) and get WWE their buys for Wrestlemania, it's a win-win situation logically.

If WWE REALLY wanted The Rock at Wrestlemania and were smart, they would offer the entire cast of FF7 tickets and put em in the front row.

With that being said, it would be cool to see The Rock cut some sort of promo and set the seeds for a match at Mania 32, but I don't really want to see him in a match at Mania 31. I think the roster is too stacked right now and the WWE can put on a great Mania with their main roster (Lesnar included).

I didn't see this option up there but I think he'll be the host of WM 31. Hogan was the host last year. I'm couldn't see WWE having Hogan guest hosting the show 2 years a row which is why I think they'd go with The Rock - biggest action star. Best person to draw casual WWE fans to watch/attend WM 31.

I completely agree with the OP, I think the options from most likely to least are him doing some kind of promo (most likely pre-taped), then not being there at all & then lastly being there in any capacity.

I would actually love to see Rocky wrestle again at WM this year but it just doesn't seem that likely to me right now & if he does it seems like it would be more of a gimmicky type of match with Triple H & The Authority, which I don't really like the idea of.

So even though he surprised many of us & returned to knock Rusev's block off, I think it was basically a one time deal this year & if anything he will probably only be seen in some kind of backstage segment or something like that.

I don't think we will see The Rock wrestle for a number of reasons. Rock will wrestle again but the timing doesn't look good due to film commitments for Mania 31 and I think with so many part timers rumoured to be involved Rock may sit this one out again and come back for a match Mania 32. The guy isn't done and anyone who suggests otherwise probably said the same a few years ago.

Rock did the host thing at Mania 27, I dont see him doing it again. IF Rock is to wrestle, it looks like Triple H, due to the tease the other week is the most likely.

Personally I would have him involved in the rumoured Reigns vs Brock match, the Rock could really give the rub to Reigns and help get him over. Special enforcer, special referee or simply in Romans corner.
