I'm sure this will be said shortly hereafter, but it all seems too perfect not to note. Paul Heyman is finally getting (some level) of control over the product and it is most definitely showing. This past week's show was an excellent blend of the tamer WWE style, with an ECW tweak. Think about it. Joey Styles signed off the show with an apocalyptic one-liner, with his trademark, PPV-status hesitation. His (Heyman's) public whines and complains--inlcuding myself--that we are fine with knox, and test, and kevin thorn, and CM PUNK (of course), and, to an extent, the rest of the WWE guys, just give us an action packed, fast paced, well written hour of wrestling (all extreme rules would be nice too). Use the men you are paying to be part of your company, we said. It was granted.
Tonight, we saw RVD wrestle Danny Doring, and while RVD clearly, definitively defeated Doring, Doring did well, he showed what he can do. Inherent in the match itself, though, is a cynical Heyman-eque message: RVD f*cked up, he has to wrestle back, he needs to start at the bottom; but, with Doring's ability to land a few almost devastating moves, the message also read 'Doring is not a nobody, he's a wrestler, and a sound one.' We see CW anderson, obviously jobbing, but at least in fashion to CM Punk (who demands an excellent crowd reaction). We see the weekly antics of Kelly Kelly, but this time intertwined with Torrie (a WWE superstar on ECW in order to keep NBC happy), AND a tag match between the hard-pushed heels, Knox and Test, against the ECW Crusaders, Originals and Innovators: The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer.
We get our one hardcore match, with a clean, unpredictable finish (other than the fact Thorn was going to win). But we also get a sadistic, hardcore main event. Wherein, the challenger clearly had the champion beat--but his tendency toward genocide tempted him to try and kill the small nation that is the Big Show. We get hardcore, and DQ, but with the building of an awesome feud, with a 500 pound man who is allowed to use stiffer and stiffer moves, and more innovative moves for a man his size, week after week. Did you see that f*cking clothesline? Damn. And, at the very end, Show happened to crash through the table we all conveniently, almost forgot.

It's getting better, I would daresay that this week's was the best. Thank God for Paul Heyman.

Copied below are the comments of RealBlackHart, not in jest or in a demeaning nature, simply as a commentary. The train of thought realblackhart expressed matched that of mine exactly, and explains, only in broken, chronologically distanced bursts, why the show succeeded.

how and why are they still selling new ECW guys as hardcore (like Depree, and Holly) if ECW isn't really that hardcore anymore. they only have 1 hardcore match a night.

well old school ecw used to be an hour but they only had ECW commercials. the matches were good, and they wulda been better if they were longer. i like this weeks show cuz they were able to squeeze in 5 non-squas matches. not badd, thats an improvement
no major things happened but it was a better show then in earlier weeks. 5 non-squash matches, and the promos were very short. Kelly and Tori in a bikini contest (no francine, perfect time for her) Depree and Striker had promos. they showed the reject. danny doring fought RVD and holly jumped in after RVD got the win, Hardcore Holly and RVD feud comming sandman and dreamer beat knoxx and test fair and square, cm beat CW anderson, Kevin thorn beat BALLS Mohoney, and Sabu beat the crap out of Big show and got DQed. but not in that particular order

the ECW alumnis jobbed but it was kool to see more than 1 of them on the show

whats this CM Punk like? ive never cn him wrestle, but ive heard a lot about him

It'll be a matter of time before the WWE brings back the ECW World TV Title and ECW World Tag Titles.

i see you agree with my comments throughout the show. the show isn't great, and far from perfect like ive said in the past but it was pretty good, and hopefully it keeps going in that direction. we'll know ECW is ok when a ECW original gets a clean win but it has to be one other than Sandman, Dreamer, RVD, Sabu, and Balls.

look at the show this week compared to the show last week, what the hell happened, last week was an alright show. this week wasnt that good. i think the long ass commercials really hurt them, they REALLY need the 2 hours. i know that sounds redundant as just about everyone here who hangs in this forum has allready said that but I really do think the show can be good every week. sci-fi needs to let heyman do the show running by himself (assuming Vince has given him more control). i know this product can be good, and i kno many have lost hope but i still think it can be good.

You may think its heyman tailored but its really not. At the end of tha day everything that you watch has to go through Vincent Kennedy McMahon so whilst heyman might come up with tha start of an idea for a good fued vince can see it change it and then go from there.
Think about it this way also, if it was really tailored by heyman would so many ECW Alumni be jobbing out to the new wwecw guys, I for one think not. Paul would never do that to the alumni, no matter what type of spin they try to put on wwecw like paul is the one giving most of the ideas for the show it still reeks of WWE programming and that will never go away, WWECW is turning out to be nothing more then another generic Entertainment show.

Sorry guys but thats just how i feel about it.

as long as it has sabu, rvd, dreamer and the sandman ill be watching :D

I will be watching to, But its not really heyman orientated at all is what im saying its very much still a vince mcmahon product, we are just all in denial.

Honestly, I'm quite fine with Knox and Test in ECW. They have this attitude about them as if they won't take any from anyone. The guys in ECW who should not be there are Big Show, Matt Striker, and Kevin Thorn. Smackdown/RAW talent that belong on ECW are Super Crazy, Psicosis, Chris Benoit, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, and Sylvester Terkay
