I just closed for the first time.

I work at a fast-food place. Let's just say they're famous for their unique shaped patties. I just started last week. Making minimum wage. I was set to work from 5-close tonight. Just got off about 45 mins ago. I didn't realize how much work goes into closing a place at night. lol. My feet are killing me right now. I'm mastering the grill, and pretty much got making sandwiches down. Epic dislike @ mopping though.

Yeah, closing can be quite a chore. I worked my way up from Staff, to Swing Manager, to Assistant Manager, and then on to Store Manager for a McDonalds and somehow managed to go to College Full-time and do this Full-Time. One of the most stressful periods of my life trying to maintain a social life to go along with it.

I was a pretty strict manager all-around, as well and was pretty picky. I guess that doesn't help make the close go faster. But a lot of it is in organization, quality of training, and proper staffing.

The more you do it, the more you'll get it down ... establish your routines ... and ultimately the easier it will be, and the quicker you'll get out of there.

I work at a local pizza place. Actually, I just went back about a week ago, after taking a year off to work for my uncles construction company, but that job just wound down. Anyhow, I close on a regular basis, and can confirm that it does indeed suck more balls than Jenna Haze and Sasha Gray combined. Worst part is the wiping off of counters, especially if they're stainless steel. One crumb can stick out like a sore thumb......

More balls than Jenna Haze and Sasha Grey can suck combined? Is that even possible? Where do I find this ball-sucking heaven?

Yeah, it's possible. Sweetheart of a girl too. Her name is Liz Vicious.:lmao:

Seriously, though, Food Service is horrendous. Especially if half of your customers are either meth-heads, crackheads, or boozehounds who can't handle the liquor and get hostile. Douchebags give the rest of us alcoholics bad names.

They keep bouncing me around. It's hard to establish one routine when I gotta keep learning everything else and getting confused. I was on front sandwiches, then I went and did something with chili. Then the manager stuck me on the grill, which I sucked at to begin with. I finally got that down and impressed the OTHER manager. She left, then the lone manager put me on drive-thru sandwiches. The customers were being douchebags and ordering all these odd things tha were difficult to make. Then I had to scrub floors and etc etc. Just got overwhelming. I never had like.. a REAL job. I worked at Family Dollar for a while but the corrupt management didn't want me to find out they were stealing off the truck so they had me fired or some shit. Then a BBQ place and it was so easy and like.. simple. I had no problem with that. This place is a wholeee lot different. More hectic.

I prefer opening where I work. The only downside to opening is having to get up at 6a.m.

However, beyond that its nothing but counting the drawers, taking the money to the bank from the night before, and getting all the movies checked in from the night drop-box. Beyond that, I do a wall-check for any movies that are marked as late - but may have been returned and missed, then I call the late list.

Closing isn't actually much harder for me.. but the stressful part with it is if a drawer is short the "closer" is always the main guy responsible for it. Which is harsh, because at times upwards of 4-5 people may have used it within one day. Outside of that, a little more work goes into closing.

Return movies, properly space/face/fix the wall, clean/vacuum, clean bathrooms, wipe down windows, make sure safe is locked, as well as all other doors, and on Monday nights we have to put out all the new movies that are set for release on Tuesday. THAT can take upwards of 20 minutes, or longer, alone. I'm unfortunately the guy mainly responsible for that task as well. :disappointed:

The things I do, while aspiring to become Manager.

I hate working fast food! Did it when I was younger in High School! Yuck! You'll never catch my bottom at a fast food place. The fucking uniforms are beyond hidious and they don't let you spruce them up or anything. Gross all around!

For thoes who do work fast food, I commend you! Eeek

Burger King was my official first job. I quit within a month after they fucked up my first TWO checks..

I didn't get my first one, it was later added into my 2nd one.. and on the day I was suppose to be paid, my check was messed up and didn't have the correct amount, so I had to wait an additional 2 weeks. (to add to it, I was due to be paid before Christmas.. didn't get paid until after.) I was furious, to say the least.. my first "big time job", and they do that shit.. I'm surprised I was able to ever trust another business again.

None the less, I have respect for those who work in fast food as well. I'd never do it again, based on the above story alone.. but even beyond that, a lot of stress goes into those jobs. More so than what you make out of it. (albeit, a friend that works at McDonald's makes over $15.00 an hour..)

I'm making.. $7.35. I'm usually like.. shy/nervous. Screw up alot when in pressure. But i'm getting it. It's money regardless. I couldn't find anything better. Not a big market for 19 year old's with no real previous work experience and a GED. At least it's helping pay the bills and put food on the table. Im grateful for what I have. The job is rough. The lady that was running the grill was dumb as shit. She had no clue what to do with the meat, or just wasn't paying attention. 3 stages of meat, Done, cooking, raw. She had one stage of.. cooking. I was pissed. We had a rush and then we ran out of buns, and chicken. So we were fumbling around and we had to have like 5 cars pull up and wait. I finally got pissed enough to where I yelled at the manager to get something going, and made someone else get the buns out the warmer, then for the lady to hurry up with the meat. :lmao: Like my 7th day there and i'm already more knowledgable then most of them.
