The title says it. A thread to discuss exercise. People have different ideas of how to work out and such. So let's discuss.

For me, I do 1 hour of walking/hiking. Afterwards, it's some warm-ups and finally 20 minutes of beating up a punching bag. I try to do it at least 5 times a week, but work tends to interrupt it. I don't favor weight training much. I prefer cardio. Issues with my shoulder joints also don't help either. Cycling has also been a nice exercise I enjoy. Sadly, i don't have my bike available, but given the chance I'd go riding for miles.

So with that said, what exercise do you favor? A sport, a workout routine or such?

I'm with you about the cardio. A person can work up a sweat with strength training, but getting the heart pumping with a good cardio routine is much more beneficial in the long run.

I'm on the treadmill and stairmaster four times a week, always before work. I work crazy hours, making it even more important to not abandon the exercise. After I do it, I feel better for it the whole day. I can also attest to the promo from a health club a few years ago, claiming that "A body in motion tends to stay in motion." In other words, if I miss a scheduled workout, I feel sluggish.....although that may be more in the mind than the body.

I mostly just go walking for 30 minutes a day with my Ipod, mainly to think about stuff. Sometimes I take that walk about 4 or 5 times a day, sometimes twice a week. But lately I don't think it's as healthy due to the fact that I'll light up a cig halfway through.

Well, I hit the gym everyday. Usually at around 7 in the morning, but if I want to sleep in I go later. A few friends accompany me, my old football teammates. Basically, it starts off with 15 minutes of "warm up", then 30 minutes of cardio, then an hour on the weight machines (abs, arms, whatever), then the last 15 minutes are "cool down." Then afterward, when I'm done with my exercise, I was down a protein drink/shake, I prefer EAS Myoplex. That, along with just being physically active all the time and playing sports, helps me maintain a very well cut body. It also makes it easier to do activities that would normally strain you, because at the gym you build up strength, cardiovascular endurance, etc. In my opinion, it makes life more enjoyable.

I don't overdo it exercise wise, I just do enough to keep healthy. Usually, I'll do a cycle a day, an hour, or half an hour. If I do half an hour, I just up the average speed from what I do with the hour long cycle. I don't do much else as I'm stumped down with school and projects a lot of the time. If I have the time, I do some simple trampoline exercises. After that I'll play some sport with some friends for awhile before heading in for the night. At weekends I do two hours of badminton. I usually do a cardio warm-up at home before I go to badminton practice to limber up for it. I do plenty of walking, around the house, outside, to shops and so on, doesn't sound like much, but it adds up.

I mostly do cardio and yoga. An hour on the elliptical 4 times a week and an hour of yoga everyday except sunday. Keeps me hyped up and energized for the day. I mostly favor an early afternoon workout which is where the bulk of my free time comes from so from 2-4 I'm moving. Don't do much else outside of that.
